Chapter 16 - CHAPTER 16-KISSING FLAMES

A swarm of emotion clogs my throat, a fragile moth flutters against the storm of emotions . I looked at Yu, at the raw vulnerability etched on his face, the desperate hope that shone in the depths of his dark eyes.

In that moment, all the doubts, all the fears, seemed to melt away, replaced by a fierce, unwavering certainty.

"Yes," I whispered, the word barely audible. Relief washed over Yu's face in a visible wave, softening the sharp angles of his features. A genuine smile, one that reached his eyes and banished the shadows that had lingered there, bloomed on his lips. It was a smile that made my heart flutter anew, a smile that promised a happiness I had only dared to dream of. He reached out, his hands cupping my face with a tenderness that made my legs shake.

His thumbs gently brushed away the tears that had escaped my eyes, his gaze worshipping me. "Aida," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion, the sound sending shivers down my spine. "Thank you."

And then, he kissed me. His lips met mine with a gentle pressure that quickly deepened, a silent language that spoke of his feelings. My arms instinctively wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer, wanting to lose myself in the warmth of the flames of his kiss. The world fades away, everything melting into a foggy backdrop. Only we exist, the feel of his lips on mine, the steady beat of his heart against my own, the addictive electric energy that crackled between us.

When we finally broke apart, breathless and flushed. A comfortable silence settled between us. He kept his arms wrapped around me, pulling me close until my head rested against his chest. We stood there for a long moment, simply holding each other, basking in the quiet joy of finally coming to terms with our feeling for each other. He strokes my hair gently, his touch sending shivers of delight and craving down my spine. A warmth nestles deep into my belly. This so much more than I had with Luke. This is exhilarating.

We cuddled close, finding comfort and solace in each other's arms, the cool night air no match for the warmth that radiated between us. I brush my lips against exploring the contours of my lips, my fingers tangled in the soft strands of his hair, pulling him closer, wanting to absorb every sensation, every moment. Time seemed to lose all meaning as we stood there, bathed in the soft glow of the city lights, lost in the intoxicating world we had created for ourselves. It was a moment of pure, unadulterated happiness, a stolen fragment of paradise amidst the chaos of our lives.

Eventually, a sense of practicality began to intrude upon our blissful bubble. The night was growing late, and the city below was beginning to stir with the first hints of dawn. Reluctantly, we pulled apart, the lingering warmth of our embrace still clinging to us. Yu looked at me, his eyes filled with a love that made my heart soar. "I should take you back," he murmured, his thumb gently tracing the line of my jaw. "But know this, Aida. Tonight… tonight was real. My feelings for you are real."

I reached up and placed my hand over his, my fingers intertwining with his. "I know, Yu," I whispered, my own heart overflowing with a love I could no longer deny. "Mine for you are too."

The flight back to my apartment was just as swift and silent as our journey to the rooftop, but this time, the energy that surrounded us felt different, charged with a newfound intimacy and a shared secret. As we landed gently outside my building, the first rays of the rising sun were beginning to paint the sky with hues of pink and gold. He held my gaze for a long moment, his eyes filled with a promise of a future we would face together. Then, with a final, lingering kiss that sealed our vows, he released my hand. "I will find a way, Aida," he said, his voice low and resolute. "I promise you."

And with that, he was gone, disappearing into the pre-dawn light as swiftly and silently as he had arrived. I stood there for a moment, watching the space where he had been, the warmth of his kiss still lingering on my lips, the echo of his promise resonating in my heart. I turned and walked into my small apartment.

The severity of what I had just done crashed into me hard, so hard, I clutch my knees, breathing heavily, tears mist my eyes. I stared lovingly at my space, the thought of leaving all these behind to carve a new life is slowly choking the life out of me.

The clicking of heels accompanied by the patter of several footsteps made me wipe my tears away, and stared in horror as Min stood before me, flanked by guards.
