Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: I'm Afraid I'll Break You

"Twelve-Winged Fallen Angel!"

As Ye Chen's martial soul fully awakened, Qiu Xiaoxiao and her brother Qiu Bin's expressions turned grim. This wasn't just any soul. This was the legendary martial spirit—one so powerful that the highest echelon of the Martial Soul Hall viewed it as a threat to the very balance of power.

The Hall's sacred decree was clear: Anyone who encounters a Fallen Angel must destroy them at all costs.

Their own spirits were being slowly overwhelmed, and the situation quickly spiraled into danger. Sharing a look, the siblings launched their counterattack without hesitation.

> "Second Soul Skill: Void Suppression!"

"Fourth Soul Skill: Mental Resonance!"

Qiu Xiaoxiao's Void-Breaking Soul Ring spun rapidly above her head, expanding into a massive disk that blanketed a hundred meters of sky. The air compressed violently within its bounds—space itself felt thickened, distorted. When Ye Chen tried to use his spatial jump, all he could do was tear open a narrow rift—far too small to escape through.

And her fourth skill? A double-edged sword. Once triggered, its spiritual force mirrored back on the user as well. If Ye Chen retaliated mentally, he'd suffer the consequences himself.

Meanwhile, Qiu Bin stepped forward, a dark aura surging from his body. In his grip was the God-Slaying Spear, raised over his shoulder in a throwing stance. Dark, rippling waves of energy pulsed from the spear's tip like lethal tides, slow but deadly.

Despite its quiet menace, Ye Chen felt the weight of death in its presence.

> "You still think you can defeat the two of us?"

Qiu Bin's voice was low, almost calm—but there was tension in his every muscle. The spear's aura had already torn nearby bamboo stalks to shreds, proving its terrifying power.

Qiu Xiaoxiao controlled the expanding void above, pressure increasing steadily. She was determined to keep Ye Chen pinned—unable to move, let alone use powerful techniques.

Ye Chen nodded with genuine appreciation.

> "Impressive. With power like this, even a Soul Sage would struggle to walk away unscathed,"

he said casually. Then his tone shifted, calm but chilling:

> "But against me? Honestly, you're like two fragile infants. I'm scared I might break you without even trying."

Qiu Bin narrowed his eyes and growled.

> "Big words. Let's see if you can back them up."

"Exclusive Soul Skill—Fall of the Gods!"

He hurled the spear.

In midair, it split into over a dozen black javelins, each leaving trailing ripples of destruction across the sky. The bamboo forest shattered in waves, obliterated by the spear's pressure alone.

> "Brother, I'm with you!"

Qiu Xiaoxiao added forcefully,

"Fifth Soul Skill—Spatial Distortion!"

Her soul ring spun furiously, pulling the air beneath it into a massive swirling sphere of compressed space. It barreled toward Ye Chen, trees uprooted and shredded as it passed.

They weren't holding back.

Ye Chen watched calmly as the spear came first. A smirk crept onto his face.

> "So this is the famed God-Slaying Spear… The annihilation it carries is enough to make anyone fear death. I wonder—if it struck a Soul Sage head-on, would they even leave behind a corpse?"

He rose into the air, his twelve black wings slowly spreading.

No soul technique.

No defense.

He simply stood there.

Qiu Bin frowned.

> "He's… not resisting? Don't tell me he's planning to catch it by hand?"

> "Has he lost his mind?"

Qiu Xiaoxiao whispered.

"Or… did we already break his spirit?"

Qiu Bin didn't respond, only watched intently.

The moment the javelins reached Ye Chen—

> "Boom!"

An explosion of soul force erupted.

The shockwave tore through the forest, leveling everything within a hundred-meter radius. Dust and debris filled the air. For a moment, everything was still.

> "That's it?"

Qiu Xiaoxiao muttered.

"Should've known he couldn't take it—"

> "No. This isn't possible…"

Qiu Bin's eyes widened.

As the dust settled, a figure stood unharmed in the sky, twelve wings flapping slowly.

Ye Chen.

Smiling.

In his hands—

Eighteen black spears.

He was juggling them.

And then, without hesitation, he bit down on one.

> "Crunch. Hmm… crispy. But the taste's kind of average."

He finished chewing, swallowed, and grinned at them.

Below, the massive swirling sphere of space still approached.

Ye Chen stretched, then spread his wings wide.

> "Divine Skill of the Fallen Angel: Devour."

He opened his mouth.

And waited.
