Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Plan

Wang Yong studied tirelessly day and night, quickly advancing to the level of a third-year student at Hogwarts. However, many areas of knowledge were still incomplete, and he needed to reinforce his understanding by studying at the Hogwarts library. After all, many books and materials were unavailable for purchase outside the school.

Moreover, his magical talent was somewhat lacking, making it difficult to perform advanced spells. In the magical world of Harry Potter, one's magical ability could be enhanced both through constant practice and with age. As Moody mentioned in the fourth book, even if they mastered the Unforgivable Curses, at that time, all it would do was cause Moody a bit of nosebleed. Yet, by the time of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, in just a year's time, Harry could perform the Unforgivable Curse, albeit with limited power.

Practice, of course, played a crucial role. Snape, by the time he entered his first year, already knew many dark curses that even seventh-year students weren't familiar with.

This magical world was vast, and what had been written so far was just the tip of the iceberg.

But Wang Yong wasn't planning to immerse himself too deeply into this world. His primary goal was to learn more to show off in the real world later. However, considering his lazy nature, it remained uncertain whether he could even pull that off in the real world.

After his magical studies slowed down, Wang Yong's life gradually fell into a more regular routine. He spent his time reading books related to the magical world, though he had to pace himself because he couldn't afford to buy many books and would have to wait until he enrolled at Hogwarts. He had already read through the books in his home library within a month, except for a few mysterious ones that he couldn't study yet.

He also spent some time playing with Susan, though she mostly stayed with her parents. Occasionally, he'd visit the Weasley household, and he had become quite familiar with both families.

As summer break began, the Weasley brothers and Percy returned home, and they often had fun playing Quidditch on the hillside. Percy, however, was more interested in studying the powers of Prefect authority and the thickness of cauldrons.

Time flew by, and before he knew it, it was already July.

One day, Wang Yong was reading a Transfiguration book in his study, bathed in the morning light. He gently waved his wand at an empty cup beside him. The cup struggled to grow four thin legs, walked a few steps, and quickly collapsed back onto the table.

Wang Yong shook his head in resignation. His magical talent seemed insufficient at this stage, and he figured it would take another year before he could master this particular spell.

Suddenly, a pale yellow shadow flew in through the window, landing on Wang Yong's shoulder. It scratched his cheek with its beak. "Well, little cat, what have you brought today?"

"Ah!" Wang Yong exclaimed, delighted to see the small cat holding a pale yellow envelope in its paws.

He had been waiting for this moment, his heart filled with a sense of anticipation.

The pale yellow envelope was addressed to "Mr. Wang Yong, London Cottage," written in green ink. He opened the envelope and began reading:

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore

(President of the International Confederation of Wizards, Head of the Wizarding Association, Sir Merlin's First-Class Magician)

Dear Mr. Wang,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Enclosed is a list of required books and supplies.

The term will begin on September 1st.

We look forward to receiving your reply by owl by July 31st.

Sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall, Deputy Headmistress

Wang Yong's heart raced. He was finally going to Hogwarts, a letter many longed for in another world, and he was fortunate to receive it.

He quickly grabbed a piece of paper and wrote his reply, sealing it in an envelope before handing it to the little cat.

However, the cat didn't leave. It stared at him reproachfully.

Wang Yong slapped his forehead in realization. He hurried to the kitchen, grabbed some food for the cat, and only then was it satisfied, nodding before soaring away like a gust of wind.

Wang Yong kissed the envelope. "Hogwarts, here I come!"

"Though there are still other things to do first."

The second page of the letter read:

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

First-year students are required to have:

The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection by Quentin Trimble

Other Equipment

A wand

A large cauldron (standard size 2, made of pewter)

A set of glass or crystal vials

A telescope

A brass scale

Students may also bring an owl, a cat, or a toad.

Parents are reminded that first-year students may not bring flying brooms.

Wang Yong thought to himself that he still had plenty of things to buy. He already had a cauldron and a scale in his lab, but he still needed to get uniforms and a telescope. He planned to go shopping tomorrow.

Just then, he heard the fluttering sound of owls outside the window.

One owl, a gray one, swooped in. Wang Yong immediately recognized it as the Weasley family's owl—Flora. He hurriedly let it in, and Flora proudly perched on his shoulder, eyeing the older, somewhat disheveled owl, Errol, who was from the Weasley family.

Wang Yong opened the letters. Both were hastily written, saying that they had received the Hogwarts acceptance letter and were scheduled to visit Diagon Alley the next day.

Wang Yong carefully wrote his reply.

The next day, he accompanied the Weasley brothers and Percy to buy the necessary supplies, eagerly awaiting the start of school.

But all the while, Wang Yong was secretly planning something. He kept reviewing a book he had purchased earlier—Analysis of Legendary Artifacts—while repeatedly practicing a particular spell: the Summoning Charm.

...

On the afternoon of August 1st, a tall man in plain Muggle clothes walked along Charing Cross Road.

It was around midday, and he seemed to be waiting for someone.

His face was concealed by the shadow of his hood. He stood out among the crowd in London.

Before long, he saw a giant figure and a small boy emerging from the Leaky Cauldron. The man had messy black hair, and his arms were as thick as barrels. His shoes looked like small dolphins.

He was carrying several packages, striding forward while the small boy hurriedly followed.

Once they disappeared from view, the hooded man murmured, "Hagrid, Harry Potter."
