I tried calling Nicole, despite idris' advice on the contrary, but she wasn't picking up.
"What would you tell her when she answers? Idris asked but I was not about to let my only chance of becoming a father slip through my fingers. I continued to call her, until Idris brought out a phone from one of the drawers in my office.
"I believe this is the phone you have been calling." Idris said, stretching the phone to me. It was Nicole's phone from that night, and it was ringing. It had me as the caller id, and I realized how much I have been wasting my time.
"Why do you still have the phone?" Idris asked. He was irritated, and he didn't hide it.
"It doesn't matter right now." I said, and I suddenly remembered the meeting we were supposed to attend, and my men who I believed were still standing outside, waiting for me.
