Chapter 2 - Leaving

Meghan's POV

I went back inside, and on my way I was stopped by Lolita and Bella.

"What part about you missed a spot don't you understand? Who's going to clean all of this?" Lolita said.

"Maybe she is expecting us to do it, mom."

Anger swelled inside of me all of a sudden. "This is my husband's house and I can clean it whenever I want to. I wish you both can leave already."

Their eyes widened as I said that. No one believed I could dare speak back, even I didn't believe that.

"What was that? You're growing some balls, aren't you?" Lolita snapped.

"This is why I want you out of here soon. So you've been pretending like you're a good girl all along, huh?" Bella questioned.

"I have done everything you always ask. Even I answer to you Bella, like you're my big sis and not actually four years younger than me." I said back, receiving shocking glances from them.

"See Mira isn't like this. What a sweet girl." Lolita said, getting a suspicious glance from her daughter. Right there, I too was forced to frown.

"Why would you bring up his secretary in the midst of what we're saying now?" I said in fear. I hoped it wasn't what I was thinking...Alec wasn't a flirt even though all the girls liked him. But with that forward secretary of his, I always suspected she was trying to seduce him.

Bella smiled as she glanced at her phone. "Sorry, we've been trying so hard to hide this. But now it feels good that you know."

"That I know what?" I could feel my breath quickening.

"Alec went on a date with Mira tonight. He just texted me a picture of the two of them together. And they are so cute!"

"Oh Bella, what is wrong with you? We didn't want to tell her until he handed over the divorce papers to her." Lolita said.

"What? You see how brother still acts around her. He's unsure whether to divorce her or not. She must give him good sex, because I don't see why he hasn't handed over the divorce papers to her yet."

"Maybe. That's why I hope things work out fast with Mira and Alec," Lolita said and she and Bella both nodded as if it was something normal. Then she turned to face me, "all this while you've been using yourself like a slave, meanwhile Alec has been thinking of a way to divorce you the past 6 months now."

I was standing in shock, frozen completely on spot. I couldn't move even if I wanted to. It was like my legs were glued to the ground to hold my balance, and if I moved I could faint. I had my suspicions with that Mira girl, but I didn't think their relationship was serious enough that he would think about handing me a divorce paper!

"So you know all about this and none of you told me before?" I asked, realizing I sounded like a fool now.

Both Lolita and Bella laughed out. "Oh you are so stupid," Lolita said, shaking her head.

"He doesn't love you anymore. Why is that so hard for you to believe? Just leave already." Bella said with a warning tone.

My shoulders ached as they dropped, my chest hurt. Slowly, I managed to find my way upstairs to our room. This was too hard to believe. As I crashed on the bed, I got a notification from Bella and I saw it was a picture of Alec with that darn secretary.

Alec barely smiled, he was always too serious and overwhelmed with work. But here he was smiling so happily with his secretary! I felt dumb and disappointed in myself. No matter what I did, Alec would never love me.

Exhaling heavily, I looked around the room and didn't know when tears had began to drop freely from my eyes. So this was the end?

Maybe I needed a break at least. He was about to divorce me anyway, so why don't I just leave first?

I dialed a number that in my wildest dream, never believed I would be calling. It was our family's butler, Gabriel.

"Hello miss, it's been too long." He said in his well toned voice.

I sniffed in, "Gabriel? Please come and pick me. I want to come home. I would have called grandpa but I'm too scared of what he would think of me!" I blurted out my fear, waiting for Gabriel to give me one of his fatherly advises.

"Okay miss. I will send the driver over right now." My heart was overwhelmed with joy at his reply. "But might I just ask, are you doing alright?"

I blinked back a tear, "let's just say that I'll be fine once I leave this place."

"Okay miss. Give me one hour." He assured before hanging up.

I laid on the bed like a little baby, "this is it, Alec. Goodbye." After a while seeing I've gotten my strength, I got up and began to arrange my bag. My grandpa's mansion wasn't too far from Alec' place so I knew the driver would be around in the next thirty minutes.

Before I knew it, I had gathered all my bags and arranged in three boxes. I came in here mostly with my clothes anyway, and that was what I would be leaving with. I left all of the gifts I had received from Alec...they never came from his heart anyway. But the one he got me that day for our anniversary, a pair of a lovely diamond earring was too beautiful to abandon, and too special for me to let go. I threw it inside my purse and realized I was all set.

My phone buzzed and I saw it was Gabriel. "Is he here now?" I asked and after getting a confirmation from Gabriel, I went downstairs to check.

On my way downstairs, Lolita and Bella were still relaxed on the couch, this time playing loud annoying music and singing loudly to it. I ignored and walked past them, then came in with the driver to help me carry some of my stuff.

"Hey where are you taking this stranger to? This is your husband's house and we're even here. Have some respect!" Lolita queried.

In a calm tone, I replied. "This is Mike, my driver. I'm leaving, Lolita. Just as you and your witch daughter have always wanted. I hope you live happily ever after with Alec."

Lolita and Bella only stared with eyes widened in shock and I realised I had called her name so direct instead of sweet words like 'mother' or 'madam Lolita'.

"Who are you to disrespect my mom!--" Bella was saying but got cut off by Lolita.

"That's okay. This is good news, don't you get it? Let her get the hell out of our lives for good now! Leave her." She said and they both got out of my way, whispering and giggling in a corner. I ignored them and went upstairs with Mike, gathered my stuff and was walking out when Lolita called out my name.

"I hope you didn't steal any of my son's property! I should have the security search you actually." Lolita said behind me.

"Respect yourself, Lolita. Otherwise, you'll regret it." Even I was surprised at how commanding I sounded. Lolita instantly backed off, holding on to her daughter's arms. They said nothing again and that was when I turned to leave.

Hopefully, I never see them again. Because if I do, it would be a different me, one who would no longer sit around and take their insults.
