Their little movements were naturally noticed by Aiden, but he didn't open his mouth to expose them, nor did he care.
Because Annette had met with them too few times, Ada's identity has still not been "exposed," so she still thought Aiden didn't know anything.
"Alright, Wesker is gone, now only you are left." Aiden clapped his hands, drawing everyone's attention, and then said to Sergei.
"Have you considered what to do next?" Aiden asked again, "You are already isolated and without help."
"So, do you want to kill me here?" Sergei had a face full of disdain, "If I want to leave, none of you can stop me."
"Of course, I know very well, not to mention those two big guys, even if only you are left, we would still have a hard time stopping you." Aiden shrugged his shoulders. He knew very well just how powerful Sergei was, as a perfect T-virus adapter, and that he still had two Ivan-type Tyrants by his side, leaving wouldn't be difficult at all.
In fact, Aiden was even hoping he would hurry up and leave, afraid that he'd stay and fight them desperately.
The gene lock's duration was about to end, and even with the protagonist group present, it would be hard to gain any advantage.
But in reality, seeing Aiden's performance just now, Sergei, like Wesker, had also developed serious apprehension toward him. He wasn't confident in a guaranteed win, so how could he go all out? After thinking it over, he chickened out.
Perhaps the word "chickened out" isn't quite appropriate. As a Slav, he had never chickened out, just that the Raccoon City incident required aftermath management, and there was still a huge mess waiting for him to deal with.
So, Sergei just gave Aiden a deep look, and then, without hesitation, left.
Behind Aiden, Jill watched as Sergei disappeared into the jungle. Although she was somewhat dissatisfied, she also knew this was the best outcome.
Just like when Wesker left, she didn't stop it, no matter how much she wanted to grind his bones to dust. But she wasn't the only one here. There were many people unrelated to that matter. She had to think of the others.
With Sergei and Wesker gone, those who remained here were basically the survivors of Raccoon City.
Except for Ada and that man called Carlos…
———
"It's finally over for now." Aiden let out a long breath. He was too tired.
From the 20-somethingth to today, he had almost continuously fought for nearly 100 hours. Although he did rest a few times in between, adding up to only a dozen or so hours, it simply couldn't make up for the mental exhaustion.
This was also the reason why he kept smoking, to refresh himself and maintain the level of excitement in his body.
"Aiden, where do you plan to go next? Back to your country?" Jill, after chatting with Barry and Carlos for a few sentences, came over and asked him.
Aiden nodded, "It's been more than two months. I've been out too long. Besides, I need a good rest, especially want to sleep soundly for once."
"Then... are you going alone?" Jill looked at Ada. "Or with her?"
To her, Aiden and Ada were both looked alike, both from the same country. Of course, they would return together.
Aiden shook his head, "Alone."
"Then what about her?" Jill asked.
"Ask her yourself." Aiden tossed the question to Ada.
Jill looked at Ada.
Ada was stunned for a moment, then said, "I still have to wait a while."
She was a Chinese-American, perhaps hadn't even been to Z Country a few times in her life, but since Jill asked like that, she naturally answered along with Jill's words.
"Alright then." Jill believed it, then she asked Aiden a little unwillingly, "Can't you stay a few more days? You can rest well and then go back."
Aiden continued to shake his head, "I want to, but I don't want to deal with your country's government. Believe me, the moment we go out, they'll come knocking. Too troublesome."
"True." Jill nodded. She was very clear what kind of virtue her country's government had.
"Then when are you leaving?" Jill asked again. "We can see you off. With a helicopter, it'll be much more convenient."
"No need. I'm fine alone." Aiden hadn't forgotten the main mission. It was clearly marked, as long as he left Raccoon City alive before the nuclear bomb flattens it, he could return to the real world. He didn't want to suddenly disappear while leaving on a helicopter. If that happened, it'd be hard to explain next time he came to this world.
"Alright then." Jill sighed, her heart full of disappointment. But somehow, the next second, her eyes became firm, and she suddenly hugged Aiden.
Aiden didn't push her away, allowing her to hug him.
"Do I need to look away?" Ada watched for a moment, then asked with a soft snort.
"No need." Jill let go of Aiden, smiled at Ada, then turned and walked toward the helicopter.
"He's not going with you?" Next to the helicopter, Claire still held Sherry. She waved at Aiden and Ada, then asked Jill.
Jill didn't speak, just slightly shook her head.
Claire looked at her suspiciously, asking, "I thought you two were a couple."
Jill's steps paused slightly, her expression full of loss as she said, "I thought so too before."
"And now?" Claire continued asking.
"She has a rival now." Leon answered in place of Jill.
The overly sheltered little girl Claire showed a sudden realization expression, "I get it. He's stepping on two boats."
"..." Leon helplessly covered his eyes.
———
"Alright, now it's our turn to say goodbye." Watching the helicopter slowly rise, Aiden said to Ada.
"So… should we hug too?" Ada asked tentatively.
"This…"
Aiden scratched his head with difficulty, wondering if doing this would make him a scumbag. Jill hadn't even gone far.
"Alright then, looks like a hug isn't enough for you." Ada misunderstood, took a deep breath, then hugged Aiden, and like a dragonfly touching water, pecked his lips.
Then, she slowly let go of her arms and quickly retreated into the jungle.
"Aiden, I will go to Z Country to find you."
Just as Ada's figure was about to disappear into the jungle, her voice came through.
"Then you'll have a hard time finding me." Aiden muttered, beginning to head out of Raccoon City.
Not long after he left Raccoon City's jurisdiction, a flash of white light passed by. He disappeared on the spot, and a string of system prompts rang in his ears.
