Kai paced back and forth in the cramped living room, his heart racing as he faced his foster parents , " you don't understand, who I'm I! I need to know my identity. Why won't you tell me anything." His voice cracked with frustration, the words spilling out like a dam breaking. Mr and Mrs Davis exchanged worried glances, their expression a mixture of concern and irritation. " We're your family now Kai. You need to let go of the past. We found you in the woods, a tiny baby with no identity . We took you because we couldn't leave you there but we do not know anything about your past," his foster mother replied, her voice calm but firm. Kai felt stifled, trapped in a cage of their expectations and the shadows of his unknown heritage," that's not good enough. I'm not some stray animal you found. I deserve to know who I am."
Ignoring their calls , he stormed out of the house, the door slamming behind him. He finds solace in the quiet of the woods, where the Serene environment calms his troubled mind.
As he wanders deeper into the forest, the familiar scent of pine and damp calmed him slightly . He sank into a mass- cover log, burying his face in his hands. He needed answers desperately but where could he find them.
As the sun began it's descent , casting long shadows along the forest floor, Kai noticed a figure in the distance. A man , his back to him, was photographing the vibrant tapestry of autumn leaves that surrounded a babbling brook. The man's beauty struck Kai, his features sharp and defined, his hair the colour of burnished copper . He was captivated, his earlier anger momentarily forgotten.
The man , Ethan, turned and moved towards the river, his gaze down to the shimmering water. He unbuttoned his shirt, revealing a toned physique that sent a wave of awareness through Kai. He watched hidden in the underground as Ethan removed his cloths to his boxers and waded into the cool water . As Ethan emerged from the water wiping his eyes, a group of men approached their faces shadowed by the dimming light. They tried to engage Ethan in a conversation, but he ignored them, clearly uninterested. The men grew more insistent, their tone threatening . Kai's heart pounded in his chest. He couldn't stand by and watch but he was paralyzed by fear. He knew hai secret, the truth of his nature was a burden he couldn't bear to share.
Ethan's terrified scream ripped through the silence, breaking kai's paralysis. He was forced to confront his deepest fear. With a gruttal growl, he shifted, his body transforming into a powerful wolf. His fur the colour of a midnight, his eyes glowing with primal energy. The men startled by the appearance of the sudden wolf stumbled back, their threats forgotten. Kai attacked, his teeth bared, his claws flashing. The air cracked with the sounds of snarls and growls, the scent of blood filling the air. He fought with a ferocity that surprised even himself , injuring several of the men before they retreated .
He returned to his human form, trembling and panting, the adrenaline fading. He looked down at Ethan who fell on unconscious on the ground, his face pale, his chest rising and falling in shallow breaths. Kai's fear returned, his shame overwhelming him. He knew he had to get Ethan to safety , but he was terrified of what might happen when Ethan wakes up. He carried Ethan back to his house, his heart pounding in his chest. He explained what happened, his voice hoarse with exhaustion and fear. Me and Mrs Davis initially shocked still agreed to help.
As Ethan slowly regained consciousness, he's opened to meet kai's , " who are you?" he whispered , his voice shaky. Before Kai could respond, Ethan scrambled to his feet, his fear showing . He bolted from the room, his footstep echoing around the house.
Kai watched him go , a wave despair washing over him. This was the reason he hated himself, the reason he hid. He was a monster, a creature of darkness and everyone he touched would eventually run away terrified. He had been rejected by his biological parents, and now, he was rejected by the only person he was drawn to. He felt a sharp pang of loneliness, a deep ache in his chest.
