Chapter 23 - CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

Tashia was holding an important letter enclosed in its envelope; she was hesitating whether to give it to Sharlene. She knew Sharlene would have to confront this case due to the recent argument.

They should face legal action. Tashia could only shake her head at her thoughts. Her class was over, so she went straight to the hospital, since it was her turn to watch over, and her sister Vivianne went home today.

"Tashia." Someone had called her, so she turned around at that moment.

"I apologize for taking so long; I just bought something. Have you finished eating?" Sharlene asked her.

She didn't answer that question; she immediately helped Sharlene with the things she was carrying. Tomorrow, she will go home to their house to rest as well. She also needs to rest now.

Sharlene is seated beside Tashia.

"Sister." She immediately handed over the envelope.

Sharlene looked at it intently; without a word, Sharlene took the envelope she handed her and quickly opened it.

Tashia was correct; a lawyer had signed the case, and his companion was quietly reading it.

Tashia heard her sister just sigh and quickly hid it.

"Sis." She softly speaks to Sharlene.

"Just leave it; I don't have the time to deal with the two of them." That's all Tashia heard from Sharlene. "Let them be; I need to focus on my child." Sharlene only shook her head.

"Sis, you should be the one to file a case against the two of them, right?" Tashia asked.

Sharlene just looked at her with a meaningful glance and sighed. "Tashia, I don't have the time to sue them." Sharlene only repeats her answer to Tashia.

"Sis, I am aware that you received a divorce decree." Tashia said.

"Yes," Sharlene chuckled softly. "I know they thought about their choices carefully too, but, like I told you today, I don't have time for them." Sharlene explained it to her.

Tashia didn't respond to what her sister said; she just nodded. Moreover, something is also troubling her now.

Should I tell her? She was only confused by her thoughts. Sharlene gave her food and drink; she didn't refuse and accepted it. Tashia is still thinking about whether to say it or not.

Will Sister Sharlene believe it? She asked again in her mind. Tashia hasn't told Vivianne what she saw back then. Furthermore, she experienced a recurring vision in which she saw herself imprisoned.

"Tashia," Sharlene called her.

Tashia just turned around and stared at her. "I know that Grandma Felicia can see things in this world, and she made a living out of it in her youth. Do you know anything about Grandma's past?" Sharlene asked her.

Her mind froze as she processed Sharlene's request. She didn't know how to respond to the person she was talking to. Suddenly, her hair stood on end for no reason.

She just sighed and stared at her food now. She nodded slowly, because before her parents separated back then, it was this that supported them, until they drifted apart and Sharlene ended up with her still-young grandmother.

"D---Don't you remember that when you were under Grandma's care, before Mom and Dad separated?" She asked Sharlene in return.

Gently, Sharlene just shook her head at her while rubbing her forehead. "There is one, but it's not something I can remember." She only just sighed at her question.

"Why did you ask, sis?" Tashia simply asked.

"Ah, nothing. Do you have abilities like Grandma Tashia?" Sharlene asked her.

She furrowed her brow at Sharlene's question. "What do you mean, sis?" She asked while looking at Sharlene.

"Do you see visions and look into the past?" Sharlene asked again.

Tashia's body hair stood up even more.

"Please excuse my questions, Tashia." Sharlene apologized to her.

"Do you see anything, sis?" she asked Sharlene.

"What do you see?" Tashia inquired, her gaze fixed on Sharlene. The surprise was evident on her face.

Sharlene just sighed back then.

"I sometimes see my visions, but I don't pay attention to them. I take responsibility for this, and I believe we both share in it. Ashley and Vivianne suffered injuries. She clenched her fist in frustration.

"We already had warning signs regarding Ashley, damn it, but we ignored them." When Tashia remembers it, she only feels the guilt again.

"Warning signs? Did you see Ashley wearing a hospital gown before the accident happened?" Sharlene asked her.

Tashia simply nodded in agreement. She heard Sharlene gasp, so she looked at her and covered her mouth.

"W---Why, sister?" She simply asked and was confused.

"When Grandma passed away, I saw a child in a hospital gown until—until Ashley became one of them." Tashia noticed Sharlene's voice tremble.

Tashia swallowed; it wasn't just her who saw the child, but also Sharlene.

"It's my fault; why didn't I believe that gut feeling and that warning sign?" Tashia heard her sobbing in regret.

She was also saddened by what she heard.

"Another thing, when Grandma passed away, when she was hospitalized, I kept dreaming about a woman whose name I only remembered." Sharlene even said.

Woman? It made her question in her mind back then, which is why she looked at Sharlene.

"Leah; Leah is her name." Sharlene said to her.

"Sis, is that woman you used to see wearing a funeral dress?" Tashia asked her.

Sharlene just swallowed her saliva and cleared her throat. "Yes, I saw her when Grandma passed away." Sharlene even told Tashia.

Suddenly, the surroundings grew cold, causing the hairs on her body to stand up. She needs to tell Sharlene about what she saw before, including the vision she is seeing now.

"D--- do you mean you're the one Grandma is waiting for? Do you mean you're the one Grandma is waiting for?" She asked Sharlene.

Shalrne just nodded. "I will uncover the truth: the connection between Ashley's soul and that woman."

"Sis, how can we get Ashley back?" she asked, confused.

"I—I don't know. I am the key to freeing Grandma. The one who wore the mourning dress is the same person; she is Leah." Sharlene stared at her.

"K—Key." She suddenly remembered what the woman had said to her.

Both of us were completely unaware of the events, especially regarding Grandma's life back then. Besides, Sis Sharlene didn't remember the past very well, even though she had been with it for a long time. She could only reflect on her memories.

"I will find a way; I can see the past, but I don't know when I will be taken to the past." Sharlene simply said to Tashia.

Tashia saw the determination in Sharlene's eyes. Tashia just sighed at that moment; she needed to tell her sister Vivianne about it.

Suddenly, her head started to ache because she was facing a series of problems, especially with Ashley. Tashia looked at the apparatus attached to the child's body.
