"Oh God." Sabrina rested her chin on the table. She was bored out of her wits. She must discuss with Lexis about work.
She knew he definitely did something, that's why no company wanted to employ her.
Staring mindlessly at the blank screen of the laptop, she thought it would be better to take a stroll outside and maybe buy some Chinese food.
Putting on only an over-sized hoodie over the blue baggy jean she wore, Sabrina let her curly hair free.
She was walking briskly down the stairs when she saw a strange middle aged woman, standing by the dining room.
She stared at her in disbelief. When did she come in? And who was she?
Naomi looked up to see Sabrina, "Hey dear." She greeted with a warm smile.
Sabrina smiled back tightly, "Good morning."
She didn't have the right to question who she was, or how she had gotten in. It wasn't her mansion, but Lexis'. The woman might be his relative.
Naomi smiled, "You're the lady Lexis married?."
Sabrina blinked her eyes. Could she be his mother..?
But… there was no slight resemblance between them; the middle-aged woman has blonde hair and blue eyes, while Lexis has black hair and onyx eyes.
"Yes ma'am."
"Good, good, good," Naomi grinned wider as she walked down, "what's your name?."
"Sabrina."
"Sabrina? I'm Naomi, the butler. You have such a nice name."
Sabrina unknowingly breathed out in relief.
She grinned back at her, "Thank you ma'am. Nice to meet you."
Although Sabrina wanted to ask why she didn't see her here earlier.
The first time Lexis had brought her to this mansion, it was a different woman she had seen.
"Same," Naomi picked a cup from the table, "you didn't see me here the first time because I traveled to see my daughter who newly gave birth."
"Oh." Sabrina followed her to the kitchen, watching as she turned the gas cooker on, "I hope the mother and baby are alright?."
"Of course they are." Naomi smiled, and Sabrina wondered if she could ever stop smiling, "the mother and child are well."
"That's good then." No doubt Sabrina would get along with her because she was warm and hospitable.
"You were heading somewhere." Naomi muttered.
"Ma'am?."
She sliced some onions, "You look prepared. Like you wanted to head somewhere."
Sabrina glanced at herself, "Oh, I was preparing to go out to buy some Chinese food."
"Chinese food?."
"Yeah. They are my favourite."
Naomi took a look at her, "You seem mixed."
She smiled, "No, I am actually though. My grandma was a Chinese. Full Chinese."
"I would have wondered why you love their food. Though it's great. You have their blood in you."
"Yes."
"What food will you prefer then?."
"Dumplings?."
Naomi thought for a moment, "Dumplings it is then."
Sabrina widened her eyes, "You know how to make dumplings?."
"Can't be called an expert, but at least, I can. I do make it sometimes for Lexis when he would fall sick."
"Oh."
Naomi brought out a sealed bag of flour from the cupboard, "Tell me about how you and Lexis met. I never knew that as cold as he is, he'd still get married."
Sabrina tugged a few strands of her hair behind her ear, "Well, he…" she decided to fabricate a sweet romantic story on how she and Lexis came to know eachother.

Lexis' office….
"So you're saying you married her under circumstances?."
Zayn, a brown-haired man with grey eyes, who had the same lanky physique as Lexis asked.
Lexis stirred the tea in his hand, "Yeah."
"Do you love her?."
Lexis closed a file and kept mute for a second, "To early to say, but I think I like her."
Zayn sighed, "Lexis, that's simply absurd and stupid."
"I never asked for your opinion."
"Emily is crazily in love with you." Zayn said with a hint of reluctance. He has been in love with Emily since their childhood.
It could be from the moment he had seen her cry in a garden because she scraped her knee. He has treated her wound, and as she thanked him, the genuine smile on her face was what made him fall in love with her.
He even tried concealing his feelings when it was obvious that she liked Lexie, his best friend.
Although he would console her whenever she cried to him about Lexis' nonchalant behaviour towards her emotions, he always tried to hide his jealousy and anger.
Lexis knew how Emily was head-over-heels with him, yet, he didn't bother about her feelings as he married a woman he has never heard of his entire life.
"I take Emily as my baby sister," Lexis ticked his jaw, " any romantic fantasy she's having about me, I'd advise you to tell her to stop because, I'll never reciprocate the feelings. That's incest."
"For Christ's sake," Zayn hit the desk, a bit hard, "Emily isn't related to you in anyway, how the hell is that incest?."
He shrugged, "I don't know, I can only sure you that I'll never reciprocate Emily's feelings, she's just wasting her own god-damned time trying to make me fall in love with her."
Lexis was aware about Zayn's feelings towards Emily, so he knew his reproach and harshness towards her was vexing him.
But, who was he to tell him what to do?
"Lexis, Emily would be sad about this."
"She's the one who told you about my marriage, isn't she?."
The slight hesitation in him made Lexis know without being told that it was her.
She might have told Zayn after seeing the news.
That damned girl.
She must have told his mom as well.
He rubbed his temple. He would really be in trouble if she did so.
His mother—Bridget would be so mad; he got married without her knowledge and blessings.
He didn't even introduce Sabrina to her.
"I'll take my leave now." Zayn adjusted his suit, as he got up, "there's no need advising you. You will never listen."
Then he left.
Minutes later, George walked in with a cellphone, his expression worried.
Lexis eyed him at his concerned look, like something was about to happen to him.
"Lexis, your mom requests she wants to speak with you."
Now, it all made sense why he made a face like that.
Lexis took the phone from him, and George took his leave.
He breathed in, before speaking,
"Hello, mother."
