♧Throughout the Heian era of Japan, whispers spread around of a being from an unknown world one who offered mortals the chance to wield unfathomable power. This entity, known only as "Kesshō", was neither god nor demon, yet its influence reshaped the era. Those who dared to seek its favor were granted supernatural abilities, but at an irreversible cost.
☆This exchange came to be known as "The Law of Sacrificial Recompense." Power was never granted freely. It demanded tribute be it one's flesh, memories, emotions, or even the life of another. The greater the sacrifice, the greater the ability bestowed. But as generations passed, a terrifying question arose:
How much can one surrender before they cease to be human?
■Kesshō did not judge morality, nor did it warn of consequences. It merely fulfilled requests. The choices were left to those desperate enough to make them:
◇"Sacrifice your arm to gain the ability to soar through the skies." "Kill your dearest loved one to achieve immortality." "Surrender your ability to feel love in exchange for the power to transform into a fish."
For some, the sacrifice was too great, rendering them hollow husks of their former selves. Others reveled in their newfound dominion, unburdened by what they had lost. But as history marched on, one thing became clear: how far can it create the impossible.
But those with a strong enough will, such as the main character and his team can counter most effects. But how far can they go without sacrificing eachother.
