"Oh? It seems you didn't need my help after all," came a familiar voice from behind, smooth and calm like the eye of a storm.
Welt Yang appeared as if summoned by the tension's release, his silhouette framed by the soft hiss of the Astral Express settling behind him its arrival a quiet promise of respite after chaos.
"Mr. Yang!! Over here!" March called, her voice bright as she waved both arms high. Relief washed over her features like sunlight breaking through ash.
Sepharos stepped down from the carcass of the Doomsday Beast, the ground crunching beneath the adamantine soles of his armor. Smoke and stardust clung to the fractured battlefield, his every movement scattering the remnants of war like falling ash. His crimson visor gleamed, scanning the silence.
Stelle stood nearby, unmoving. Her eyes weren't focused on the ground or her surroundings but on something beyond the veil of space, beyond sight. Sepharos approached, his voice low but firm.
"Stelle. Are you alright?"
No answer. He waved a gauntlet before her face.
Still nothing.
"Huh? What's wrong with Stelle?" March asked, jogging over, concern tugging at her cheerful demeanor.
Sepharos glanced down, the expression behind his helm unreadable, but his voice bore a faint edge of unease. "Not sure. It's like she's... seeing something we can't."
Then came a ding a sharp, synthetic chime that only he could hear.
[SYSTEM UPDATE AVAILABLE]
The HUD flickered in the corner of his vision, but he ignored it for now.
Stelle blinked. Slowly, as though surfacing from a deep, cosmic ocean.
"Stelle?" March leaned closer. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
"I… I think I saw something," Stelle murmured, voice ghost-thin. "Like... the universe stared back."
March winced. "Yikes. Space trauma. That's definitely a thing, right?"
Sepharos stepped forward, each move a mechanical hymn of precision and power. The ceramite plates of his power armor whispered with servo-hisses, painted in deep cobalt blue and adorned in gold the proud sigil of the Ultramarines glinting against the fractured starlight. He wasn't just a soldier. He was a relic of another galaxy, a myth made metal.
"We move," he said, voice calm but commanding. "The others await."
Together, they made their way toward the platform where Himeko and Welt stood waiting. Himeko's eyes lingered on Sepharos for a heartbeat longer than expected, and even Welt ever composed tilted his head slightly, curiosity sharpening his gaze.
"Good work out there," Himeko greeted, her nod inclusive but pointed.
"Mr. Yang, this is Stelle and that's Sepharos," March said brightly. "He kind of saved our butts. Like, seriously."
Welt stepped forward, extending a hand toward the armored giant. "Welt Yang. And you are...?"
Sepharos matched the gesture. His gauntlet enveloped Welt's hand like a knight greeting a scholar.
"Sepharos of the Ultramarines Chapter, 1st Company. Son of Guilliman. I serve the will of the Emperor across stars, through shadow, and into the unknown."
Welt blinked. "A... Space Marine? What is that?"
Himeko gave a soft, incredulous laugh. "Well... I guess we've officially seen everything now."
Sepharos said nothing. His HUD flared again as the system pulsed a message in silent boldness.
