Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: The Fall of the Daister Family

The area was filled with overflowing sewage, emitting a nauseating stench.

In this polluted place, countless "zombie" monsters were gathered densely, making it impossible to determine their exact numbers at a glance. A rough estimate put the number at least in the hundreds.

The monsters were insatiable, constantly howling, and their presence was overwhelmingly powerful, all of them being at least at the bronze tenth level!

A figure scanned the area, nodding slightly. He selected dozens of zombie monsters and instructed, "You go towards the church. If there's any movement, immediately intercept them. We cannot allow the church's people to pass through easily."

He quickly assigned tasks.

The figure believed that the church most likely wouldn't come to the Daister family's aid unless there was something to gain. But to ensure everything went smoothly.

He decided to be cautious and make extra preparations.

After arranging everything, the figure's expression turned grim. He disappeared in a flash and stealthily moved into the ambush set for the Daister family, quietly waiting.

"In the end, I still have to use the Blood Servants."

"The church probably won't rescue the Daister family, but once they detect the Blood Servants, they'll surely go insane."

"Once I get the item, I'll leave immediately."

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. Acquiring a relic disguised as a bloodline artifact should not have been so complicated. However, he had been forced to expose the Blood Servant army he had spent years secretly gathering in the city's underground sewers.

"This will surely cause Lord Dais to question my abilities, and it might even jeopardize our bloodline's grand plans!"

But it wasn't just the Blood Servants hidden beneath this city; similar setups existed in the underground water systems of many cities in the Saint Phidys Kingdom and neighboring realms.

The figure mobilized his forces, intending to retrieve the item from the Daister family's vault.

This could also lead the church to detect anomalies in the sewer system.

"Even if the True God's power has become decadent, they won't ignore the resurgence of our bloodline."

"If the Blood Servants here in the sewers are exposed, the church might expand their search to other cities."

"Then, our plans must be initiated ahead of time."

The figure's expression darkened.

He had no other choice.

Sivis was just a weakling, with strength far below the silver level. If he asked for help from the clan, not only would the bloodline be stretched thin with insufficient personnel, but the figure would also be punished for failing such a trivial task.

At that point, even if the mission was completed, there would be no hope of advancing in the bloodline.

Between personal interests and the interests of the clan, the figure ultimately chose to protect himself first.

Moreover, he couldn't take direct action himself. If the Blood Servants were exposed, the church would likely take drastic measures. A true bloodline member's appearance would send the church into a frenzy!

The figure could only take a risky approach, hoping the sewers wouldn't be exposed.

He took extra precautions, arranging for the bronze-level Blood Servants to leave the sewers, disguise themselves, and gather in various parts of the city near the church. This would help prevent their origins from being traced.

At the same time, the figure instructed the Blood Servants to cast a special spell—Blood Shift.

This spell allowed the Blood Servants to move quickly through shadows. The most important aspect was that, once activated, the spell released a strong scent of blood, which was enough to cover up the foul stench of the sewer.

While the mysterious figure was busy with his preparations, the Daister family had already descended into a hellish nightmare.

After the figure left, Conning and Flora, their throats hoarse, continuously called out to the family members to gather near them and actively hunted down the infected.

With each wretched scream, more and more "zombies" were born.

Reina stood guard at the warehouse door, trembling in fear at the horrifying sight before her.

She had always been terrified of creatures like these since she was a child. Sivis, to amuse Reina, had told her many modified versions of zombie apocalypse stories. Now, as she recalled those terrifying scenes, her body stiffened.

Reina's legs had gone numb from standing.

But despite her fear, she remained calm. She didn't feel sorrow for the family members who had been "infected."

"Conning and Flora attempted to seize the young master's inheritance, and the entire family turned a blind eye to it."

"They got what they deserved!"

Reina muttered to herself.

Sivis had always been suppressed in the family due to his lack of cultivation talent. However, he had demonstrated exceptional business acumen, which led to constant pressure from the family head, Dailon, and others.

Because of this, Reina had long known that her young master intended to leave the family and make his own way in the world.

When Sivis was forced to become the Lord of Monsters, his decision to distance himself from the family had not raised suspicion from the young maid, who willingly stayed behind to protect her master's assets.

Now, as she watched those who had once hurt her young master turn into zombies one by one.

Reina felt that, though they may not have deserved to die, she had no sympathy for them.

She lightly closed her eyes. "None of these people are good. They all deserve to die!!"

"Those who harmed the young master's interests should end up like this!"

...

The girl was naturally kind-hearted, but when it came to Sivis, her concern was always whether his interests had been harmed.

"Wait! Conning, Flora, have you two lost your minds? I am the family head, what are you doing? I am your uncle! Wait, don't—"

Soon, accompanied by a terrified scream, Reina saw a figure rushing toward the warehouse.

The newcomer was a pale-faced, paper-thin mage wearing a dark gray robe—it was Dailon, the family head of the Daister family.

With his hurried steps, a tense and oppressive atmosphere began to thicken, even becoming tangible!

Reina soon realized that it wasn't just an ordinary atmosphere, but rather a strange flow emanating from the large number of Blood Servants surrounding them.

The flow was like a thick fog, completely enveloping the entire Daister family's territory.

Dailon's face was a mask of utter horror as he continuously retreated.

His strength had not yet reached the silver rank, and facing the Blood Servants, a special type of creature, he had no ability to fight back.

Once someone was turned into a Blood Servant, all their life force and potential would be triggered and transformed into pure physical power in an instant.

Even the weakest servant in the family, after being infected and transformed, would at least possess the combat strength of a bronze-level five, or even six, or seven. What was even more terrifying was that while the Blood Servants didn't understand combat techniques, they were fearless and took a reckless, life-for-life approach to fighting.

The bronze-level techniques were simply unable to counter the strength gained from this suicidal fighting style.

Additionally, the Blood Servants could infect anyone they even brushed against, and the plague-like toxin they carried was something that even bronze-level fighters could not withstand.

Of course, the immense strength of the Blood Servants came at a great cost. Their lifespans were dramatically shortened, and they could only live for about five years unless they were supplied with a large amount of fresh blood. Even then, their lifespan would only extend to ten years at most.

As a mage, Dailon dared not let any Blood Servants come near him. Once struck, he would be transformed into one of them.

He ran toward the warehouse, his objective clear. He immediately made a beeline for Reina.

Dailon thought to himself, as long as he captured the little maid, the Blood Servants would hesitate. If Reina detonated the alchemical bomb, the item that the shadowy figure wanted in the warehouse would be destroyed!

As for whether Reina would trigger the alchemical bomb to stop him from capturing her…

Dailon didn't care at all.

He was as good as dead! He could only gamble!

But just as the family head was rushing forward, hope flashing in his eyes.

He froze.

Dailon saw a hint of fear and panic reflected in the maid's eyes, but it wasn't directed at him.

She had merely seen something terrifying!

What was going on?

In an instant, Dailon felt a sharp pain in his body.

As Conning and Flora ran towards him, they suddenly launched their own heads like cannonballs, crashing into Dailon's ankle and sinking their teeth into him!

Dailon knew of the Blood Servants' existence and their terrifying abilities, but he hadn't fully understood the strange powers of these creatures!

His steps faltered instantly, and he was yanked to the ground.

In the next moment, a swarm of Blood Servants surged forward like a tide, piling one on top of the other, completely engulfing Dailon's body.

"No! No! Have you all gone mad? Why are you doing this?"

"Conning, are you trying to destroy the entire family?!!!"

The family head let out a short, sharp, and agonizing scream!
