"Clint, get those scraps to the smelter!"
"Clint, hammer those nails straight!"
"Clint, sharpen those swords! Customers are gathering!
"Clint, get me some snacks down below."
"Clint, I need water fast!"
Babel tower, probably the tallest infrastructure in the world and the only thing stopping monsters from escaping the dungeon. It is one of the most sought out places of Orario, the city of adventurers. Despite being ancient, the tower itself is well taken care of by the guild and it's residents.
Such as the Hephaestus Familia who owns almost 1/5 of the floors for her familia and her business.
Which is where I found myself working in the lower floors of Hephaestus Familia as a Blacksmith's Apprentice.
My master, Old dwarf Gunther is a short and gruff Old dwarf. He got a very glorious beard, still wonder how it haven't caught fire yet with his line of work and how huge it is, a stout build with bulging muscles and a missing eye. The old man himself was a level 4 adventurer before retiring after losing the eye.
Losing half of your vision is actually a career ending injury for adventurers.
So now, how did little old me got to be an apprentice to this old dwarf?
"Please I beg you! I need food and lodging!
"God's above damnit! Get this crazy kid off me!"
I'd rather not talk about it. Especially the lumps on the back of my head that haven't healed yet.
So let me introduce myself, the name's Clint. Unlucky sod who got Isekaid in a Harem Fantasy anime with my very own cheat system.
Sounds neat right?
Fucking dead wrong!!!
Dude? Who the fuck wants to get transported into a another world and struggle to survive with an overpowered cheat? What's even the point?
To show off?
Get the girl?
Get laid?
All this shit isn't worth the damn trouble and people who actually wants to be in this situation is someone who needs a psychiatrist.
Do you guys even know what I did when I got here?
I was scrounging the trash for food for weeks. With no documents or background, I'm a nobody in a strange place. Like an illegal immigrant lost in a foreign country. Unfortunately, I can't be deported cause there's literally now way back to my cozy life on Earth.
So for weeks, I was just nothing more but a trash panda living for scraps.
So why didn't I go to Hestia? She's the Goddess of Hearth and waifu of the story?
No way in hell.
Did you even watch or read this shit?
Gods are fickle beings who you can't lie.
Cheat or without cheat system, I'll be sus out of my origins in a matter of days if I even interact with a God in prolonged time.
Also no offense, Hestia ain't my type and I would rather not be play as second fiddle to our protagonist.
Then what did I do?
Simple, I looked for someone kind.
1. They must be susceptible to pity
2. They have to gullible or experienced as they tend to overthink and miss the obvious
3. They have to be low-key.
Old man Gunther fit the bill. The dwarf's a bleeding heart while I was observing the market (after stealing some food), buying and being persuaded by various local shopkeepers to buy their products.
Old guy must be ancient cause he knows everyone in the market down to second generation.
Scary.
Still, I initiated my plan which what happened perfectly for me.
I'm now Clint the apprentice blacksmith for 3 months straight.
...It wasn't easy.
Blacksmithing isn't an easy profession and no wonder dwarves are experts in the field because blacksmithing takes a lot of strength, physical and mental endurance, and a whole lot of creativity.
From a race who developed advanced smithing and craftsmanship in this world, the dwarves made Blacksmithing an art form.
And I am his assistant.
My duties? Nothing special but an errand boy and doing menial labor to lighten the load of Gunther's job. He might be a level 4 but his age and past injuries is already hindering his work. With half of his vision gone, he have to walk with a cane to maneuver his blindspot. Not once did I found him stumbling after misjudging his movements in his smithy and getting injured.
It's been a regular for him to get injuries at this point.
Thanks to this clumsy old dwarf, I had to learn first aid.
He was a nice employer with a bleeding heart, makes me feel bad in tricking the old man but desperate times needs desperate actions. No time to regret it.
As for these 3 months under Gunther's care, I wasn't idle.
Especially with my cheat system.
Calling it a cheat is stretching it. It's more like a Job class system tracker.
Let me explain.
At the start, it provided a wide variety of job classes to choose from a mighty warrior to intellectual mage class. Unfortunately, none appealed to me one bit.
Why would I want to be an adventurer? Didn't Miss Eina already said;
"Adventurers shouldn't go on adventures."
Why would I put myself in harm? I'm not a suicidal idiot or an adrenaline junkie! I'm a grown ass man with a sense of survival.
All I want is to live!
So I picked the Craftsman Job.
It's a simple Job class that basically covers a multitude of tech trees by my experiments. It basically covers the entire crafting tech tree from building, woodwork, jewelry, metalworks and so much more.
Perfect for an apprentice smith like me!
And here's the kicker, this job class level up by just crafting anything. With each finished work, the system gains a certain percentage based on the difficulty of my work in job exp. Together with my current position as an apprentice smith, progress is abundant every day.
Old Gunther even saw this developing talent of mine and decided to offload some commissioned works on me. This works much better for me, more work means more job exp and Energy.
What is energy you may ask?
It's my Gacha!
....But it's a shitty Gacha.
10 Energy meant 1 roll while 100 energy gives a 10 roll. Meanwhile, Energy income is like 1 energy for finished product.
....That's 100 products. A lot of work.
Not to mention, the drops aren't exactly game changing or mind-blowing.
It has three different drops.
Skills
Items
And Souls.
Skills are either active or passive skills. Sounds good right? Free skills?
Dead wrong!!!
Each skill has a requirement!
For example, Elemental Fusion: Solar Storm is a Master class AOE skill.
It's a massive AOE skill that basically harness the fucking sun into massive waves of Solar Flares.
Just imagine the skin cancer you would get by being exposed to one wave, let alone getting hit by one.
You would be ash by then.
Unfortunately, I can't use it! Each skill has a tier from;
Low
Medium
High
Master
In my current level of the Craftsman Job, I can only use Low to Medium tier skills. As much as I would like to throw around fireballs like a crazed wizard like any dude would love to, I have to sit this one out.
Luckily or unfortunately, there is a skill tier that is available to all levels.
Curse
Unique
Two tiers yet their skill tree is as ambiguous as their name could be. I'm gonna stay away from these ones for now until I have some experiments.
Then we go to the Items.
They are useless!
Common
Rare
Epic
Legendary
They come in tiers, yes! But goddamn the items they spew out are useless.
What can I even do with a Legendary Dragon Heart? Eat it?! No thank you. An Epic Secret Training Scroll, how nice but it's fucking blank!
Good God, I wasted some precious rolls for this!
Then there's the souls.
I'm actually stomped on what to do here. They are all monster souls, mind you but I have zero idea what to do with them.
For now, all unusable skills, items and souls are left to rot in the system drop box.
What? You think I got an inventory? That would be fucking nice ages ago before that Legendary Dragon Heart rotted because I don't I have a system inventory!
... Fuck my life.
On the plus side, my Job class finally evolved this month and got the Blacksmith Job class.
That's when things got interesting because it has a particular skill that may help me in the long run.
Reforge (Active) – Enhances or modifies an item's attributes, with a chance to improve its quality. Items and skills can be used in reforging.
Ooooooooh Shiny.
