Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Firsts steps in Hogwarts

The Hogwarts Express finally arrived at Hogsmeade Station. The students got off the train amidst excitement and the murmur of conversations. Noah, still in his role as Theo Campbell, blended into the crowd, making sure not to stand out too much.

"First years, this way!" The loud voice of a giant man caught the attention of the new students.

Noah immediately recognized Rubeus Hagrid, the Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts.

Following Hagrid, the students walked to the edge of a large black lake. Rowless boats waited, lined up in formation.

Noah climbed into one alongside a few unfamiliar students, avoiding the group of Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

When they reached the castle, Professor McGonagall greeted them and explained the Sorting process in the Great Hall. Noah listened quietly as some of the children around him nervously whispered about the houses and the Sorting Hat.

One by one, names were called and students sat beneath the Hat. When it was "Theodore Campbell's" turn, Noah stepped forward calmly and sat on the stool.

The Sorting Hat was placed on his head, and immediately a voice echoed in his mind.

"Well, well… what an interesting mind we have here. Intelligent, logical, but also quite cunning… And secrets, so many secrets… You'd do well in Ravenclaw, though you've got a strong affinity with Slytherin too…"

Noah kept his mind calm as he listened to the hat's musings. Slytherin wasn't an ideal option; it would draw too much attention right away. Gryffindor was completely out of the question. Hufflepuff might be too social… Ravenclaw, on the other hand, would allow him to operate more freely.

"I hope it's Ravenclaw," he thought.

The Hat seemed to consider his choice for a moment before announcing loudly:

"RAVENCLAW!"

The Ravenclaw table erupted in applause.

Noah sat at the Ravenclaw table, observing his surroundings as the rest of the students were sorted. He was glad to have distanced himself from Harry and his group. Keeping a low profile was his priority.

Shortly after, the sorting ended and the headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, stood to give his welcome speech.

When he finished his speech, food suddenly appeared on the tables. Noah watched as the students began serving themselves eagerly. He took some food and ate quietly, paying little attention to the conversations around him.

"Hi!" A cheerful voice pulled him out of his thoughts. He turned and saw a blond boy with round glasses.

"I'm Terry Boot. Welcome to Ravenclaw!"

"Theo Campbell," Noah replied with a slight smile.

"Are you from a Muggle family?" asked a dark-haired girl sitting nearby.

"Yes."

"Wow! It must be amazing to suddenly discover magic," said Terry.

"Although, there are quite a few Muggle-borns in Ravenclaw, so don't worry."

The conversation continued with general topics about Hogwarts and the professors.

After the feast, the prefects guided the first-year students to their dormitories. Ravenclaw's common room was in a tower, accessible only by correctly answering a riddle posed by a door knocker shaped like an eagle.

"The more you take away, the bigger it becomes. What is it?"

"A hole," answered the prefect, and the door opened.

The Ravenclaw common room was spacious, with tall windows offering an impressive view of the castle and the grounds. The elegant furniture and blue-and-bronze decor gave it an air of sophistication.

Noah received instructions about his dormitory and withdrew quietly. Once in bed, he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

The next morning, he woke up early. The dawn light filtered through the windows of the Ravenclaw tower, bathing the room in a soft glow.

He went down to the common room and found a few students already awake, some reading thick books, others practicing spells with their wands.

After breakfast, the first-years received their class schedules. The first lesson of the day was Transfiguration with Professor McGonagall. Noah headed to the classroom along with the other Ravenclaws.

The class began with an impressive demonstration: McGonagall transformed her desk into a pig and then back into a desk.

"Transfiguration is one of the most complex and dangerous forms of magic you will learn at Hogwarts," she said in her strict tone.

"If anyone plays the fool in my class, they will be expelled immediately."

The students exchanged nervous glances. Noah, on the other hand, analyzed the technique with interest. Transfiguration seemed to have similarities to the Henge no Jutsu, although far more advanced.

The rest of the class was spent practicing turning matchsticks into needles. Noah pretended to struggle at first, copying the others, but gradually showed a natural improvement—just enough not to stand out too much.

After Transfiguration came other classes like Charms, where Professor Flitwick taught the importance of proper pronunciation, and Potions, where Snape made it clear he had no patience for incompetence.

Throughout the day, Noah kept a low profile, limiting himself to observing and learning.

The following week flew by for Noah. The days blurred together with classes in Charms, Herbology, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and long hours of studying in the library.

At night, while the others slept in the Ravenclaw tower, Noah dressed silently and left his room.

He knew there was a cursed vase on the third floor that, if struck with a spell, would burst into uncontrollable laughter, alerting the whole castle.

He hid around a corner and pointed his wand.

"Flipendo!"

The vase trembled… and then exploded into sharp, shrill laughter.

Within seconds, hurried footsteps echoed.

"What in Merlin's name is that noise?!" Argus Filch's voice thundered down the corridor.

Noah waited until Filch ran toward the commotion, followed by Mrs. Norris, his cat.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, he quickly slipped toward the caretaker's office.

The lock was simple. Noah formed a hand seal and whispered:

"Kai."

His chakra flowed subtly, manipulating the lock mechanism like a lockpicking jutsu. The door opened with a faint click.

Inside, Filch's office was a mess: dusty files, rusted chains hanging from the walls, and a seemingly endless list of punished students.

Noah searched through the drawers and quickly found what he came for.

An old, wrinkled parchment with golden letters engraved in the corner:

"The Marauder's Map."

He took it carefully and slipped it into his robe.

When he heard Filch's steps returning, he closed the drawer and used the magic door to return to his room.

Back in the Ravenclaw tower, he unrolled the map on his bed and touched the surface with his fingers.

The ink lines began to draw Hogwarts Castle with impressive precision.

After obtaining the map, Noah returned to his normal routine until Halloween arrived.

When Halloween came, Hogwarts was filled with enchanted decorations and a spectacular feast in the Great Hall.

Noah enjoyed the food while observing the other students. Everything seemed normal… until the Great Hall doors burst open.

Professor Quirrell came running in, pale and trembling.

"T-t-troll! In the dungeons!"

Chaos erupted in the hall as students began screaming, some even standing in panic. Dumbledore, his voice amplified, ordered:

"Silence! Prefects, lead your houses. Professors, come with me."

Noah remained calm, though inside he was analyzing the situation. He knew the troll was actually in the girls' bathroom on the third floor, where Hermione was trapped.

And that meant Harry and Ron were about to face it.

In the bathroom, Hermione was cornered, trembling against the wall.

Ron was trying to cast a spell, but his wand shook in his hand.

Harry jumped onto the troll's back and clung to its neck.

Ron shouted:

"Wingardium Leviosa!"

The troll's club floated into the air and dropped onto its own head, knocking it out cold.

The incident with the troll confirmed something Noah already knew.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione were destined to draw attention at Hogwarts.

While everyone talked about their "heroic feat" the next day, Noah stayed out of it. He didn't want to be involved in those kinds of events. He had other goals.

"Let's practice the Disarming Charm," announced Quirrell in his nervous voice.

"Please, pair up."

Noah ended up paired with a Slytherin boy named Terrence Higgs, a second-year who looked down on the first-years with disdain.

"Don't hold back, Ravenclaw," Higgs sneered, raising his wand.

Noah smiled calmly.

The duel began.

Higgs cast a Flipendo without warning, but Noah dodged it with ease.

"Expelliarmus."

His spell was so fast and precise that Higgs's wand flew from his hand before he could react.

There was a brief silence in the room.

Even Quirrell seemed surprised.

Noah lowered his wand calmly. He didn't need to prove anything more.
