Chapter 14
A new person entered the office, and Sunny introduced him as the vice chairman.
Jay looked at him in surprise and asked, "Why are you here?"
The new vice chairman was none other than Jay's college classmate, Chris, with whom he had unresolved issues.
Chris replied, "I am the new vice chairman of the company. So where else should I be?"
Then, he announced, "The fashion brand will continue as before."
He then added, "Bella will not be resigning from her position."
Everyone left the room except Bella, Jay, Chris, and Sunny.
Jay frowned and asked, "Why are you doing all this? You were the one who decided to shut down the brand, and now you're saving it?"
Chris walked closer to Bella and said calmly, "Don't worry. You can continue working here as before. In business, personal matters should never interfere."
Sunny cleared her throat and said, "We investigated the issue and found that the makeup store supplying products to your brand was switching the original products with duplicates before selling them."
Jay turned to Chris and asked in suspicious manner, "But why are you being kind to me and doing all this?"
Chris replied, "I'm not being kind to you. I'm a businessman, and more importantly, I'm the vice chairman of this company. It's my responsibility to set things right, and I don't want an innocent person to suffer because of this."
Jay narrowed his eyes. "You already own a successful business, and you're one of the top five businessmen in the country. So why did you need to become the vice chairman of my company?"
Chris smirked but didn't answer. He simply walked out of the office.
Bella turned to Jay and asked, "What happened between you and Chris?"
Jay avoided the topic and said, "Don't worry. I'll tell you when the time comes."
The Next Morning
As Bella stepped out of her car, she accidentally hit Chris with the car door.
"Oh no! Are you okay?" she asked, concerned.
Chris winced slightly but remained silent. Seeing the small injury, Bella instinctively took care of the wound.
While she was tending to it, Chris observed her closely, his gaze unreadable.
When she finished, Bella pulled back and said, "It's done."
Chris simply said, "Thank you," and left.
Bella watched him walk away and muttered to herself, "He's weird."
Later, as Bella was making her coffee, Sunny suddenly appeared beside her.
"Mrs. Bella," she said seriously. "I want you to stay away from him."
Bella frowned. "Why?"
But Sunny didn't answer and simply walked away.
In Jay's Office
Bella walked into Jay's office with a playful grin. She covered his eyes from behind and asked, "Guess who?"
Jay smiled and replied, "It's my wife, Bella—who is small in height," and chuckled.
Bella pouted. "Hmph! I'm not talking to you!"
Laughing, Jay pulled her onto his lap, kissed her cheek, and said, "Okay, okay. I'm sorry. But what I said is true," he teased.
Bella playfully hit him. "By the way, today, Chris got hit by my car door, and I had to take care of his wound."
Jay's smile faded slightly.
"Later, Sunny told me to stay away from Chris," she added, frowning. "Why would she say that?"
Jay's expression turned serious. Holding her hand, he said firmly, "Listen, Bella. Forget about what happened today. But from now on, keep your distance from him."
Bella looked at him, confused. "Why? What's going on?"
Jay didn't answer. He simply shook his head and repeated, "Just stay away from him."
