"I've heard about that incident; back then, it caused a huge uproar in almost the entire public security circle of Japan."
Himeno sighed, "Just a little negative emotion can be amplified beyond control... Truly deserving of the title 'Wrath Devil.'"
Aki remained silent, but after hearing the introductions about the Future Devil and the Wrath Devil, he felt that the Fox Devil was still the best choice.
Although in the original work, Aki's contract with the Future Devil came at no cost, since Chiya had crossed over, he was bound to change Aki's fate. A contract with the Future Devil wouldn't be as cost-effective, and the price might be as severe as it was for those two individuals in the past.
Moreover, the Future Devil's power is purely supportive—it has no combat abilities besides allowing one to see a few seconds into the future. This makes the contractor's physical combat skills extremely important.
At present, Aki's martial skills and combat experience are far inferior to his late-stage self in the original work. There, he had three additional years of public security experience and was trained under Kishibe. Given this, the Future Devil's power would be too weak for his current state.
"I understand, but I still want to meet the Wrath Devil." Chiya thought to himself.
After all, aside from the Wrath Devil, there wasn't any other devil in the Kyoto Public Security Bureau that interested him. He needed to see and talk in person to get a clear understanding.
"Then follow me."
Fujii Atomi led the way.
Before long, they arrived at the room where the Wrath Devil was "detained."
Atomi opened the door, and the four of them stepped inside together.
Since Atomi hadn't mentioned that the Wrath Devil was a humanoid devil, Chiya was slightly surprised when he saw her.
She had exquisite features, wearing a golden long dress. Her tall and proud figure exuded an air of dominance, with long crimson hair cascading down her back and ruby-like eyes shining brilliantly.
She sat with her legs crossed on a throne of blood, her bare feet as pure as white jade, radiating an undeniable queenly aura.
"A humanoid devil... I wasn't expecting that."
Chiya muttered in mild astonishment.
"The Wrath Devil, someone wants to discuss a contract with you," Atomi said.
However, the Wrath Devil ignored Atomi because all her attention was locked onto Chiya's eyes.
"Those eyes... such extreme rage" The Wrath Devil exclaimed in awe.
To awaken the Sharingan requires strong emotional stimulation, and upgrading from one-tomoe to higher stages often involves experiencing extreme negative emotions—usually the trauma of witnessing a loved one's death, triggering unparalleled anger and hatred.
The Mangekyō Sharingan's "Kamui" ability followed the same principle. Because of this, the Wrath Devil, who was highly attuned to anger, was instantly captivated by Chiya's eyes.
What shocked her most was that this human possessed eyes filled with boundless rage, yet his sanity remained completely intact!
This overturned her understanding of human nature. To her, humans were creatures that lost their rationality once overwhelmed by anger—something she despised.
But in reality, these Mangekyō Sharingan weren't even awakened by Chiya himself, so the "rage" within them had nothing to do with him. Naturally, he wasn't affected by it.
"Are you talking about my eyes?" Chiya was momentarily puzzled.
After a short pause, he suddenly understood why the Wrath Devil reacted so strongly—it must be related to the Sharingan's "mechanism."
"How?.. How can you remain rational despite such overwhelming fury?"
The Wrath Devil was fixated on this, appearing in front of Chiya in an instant, staring into his eyes at close range.
Himeno, Aki , and Atomi were all startled by her abrupt movement. They instinctively raised their guard, preparing for combat.
"What are you trying to do?" Himeno warned in a cautious tone.
Only Chiya remained unfazed. He had already seen through the Wrath Devil's movement patterns—there was no malice in her actions.
The Wrath Devil completely ignored Himeno. It was as if, in her eyes, only Chiya existed.
"You ask why? I don't know either..."
Chiya had no way to answer her question. He couldn't reveal the truth—anything related to the system was absolutely off-limits.
But the Wrath Devil didn't care about the reason. She only knew that this human boy could remain sane despite being immersed in the purest fury—this intrigued her more than anything!
"I will form a contract with you. My condition is that I must stay with you at all times... in this form."
As soon as she finished speaking, the blood-red throne behind her transformed into a streak of crimson light and merged into her body.
Her body also began to change, morphing into a golden-red twin-bladed longsword. The throne became a "scabbard," which then housed the blade.
This weapon could be called the "Blade of Wrath."
"Let me reside in the palm of your right hand—you may use my power at any time."
The "Sword of Wrath" spoke.
She wished to pursue the dream she had always longed for—through this human boy.
"Alright."
Chiya had no reason to refuse.
Because he realized that the Mangekyō Sharingan could actually absorb anger!
When the Wrath Devil transformed just now, she released faint traces of fury. Out of curiosity, he tried absorbing them—and it worked.
However, it also drained his eye power and life force.
Overall, the Wrath Devil's strength was an incredible boost to his abilities. He wouldn't have to worry about losing his rationality due to her influence, though it did increase his dependence on "vital energy."
But no matter what, this was far superior to wielding an ordinary katana. He had been in dire need of a suitable weapon, and now he had one.
"The contract is sealed."
As the words fell, the "Blade of Wrath" shrank and flew into the palm of Chiya's right hand, forming a miniature blood-red imprint in the shape of the sword.
Atomi, standing beside him, was utterly dumbfounded.
Previously, the only person to have made a contract with the Wrath Devil had merely gained a fraction of her power. Yet this boy had taken away her entire being!
And more importantly, that previous contractor had lost his sanity after just a few uses of her power. If this boy had access to her full strength, wouldn't the consequences be unimaginable?!
At this moment, Aki deeply admired Chiya. The Wrath Devil was evidently terrifyingly powerful, and yet Chiya had essentially obtained her entire might.
However, Aki was also worried—would Chiya be affected by the Wrath Devil's presence? He just hoped this wouldn't turn into another disaster like before.
Himeno, on the other hand, marveled:
"As expected of Otonashi-kun. You're amazing—you even took away the devil girl's entire body!"
