Chapter 36 - Family, Matters! (2)

While everyone was eating, Bosa looked over and noticed something that made him curious. "Grandma, are you okay?" He asked, tilting his head with curiosity then shoved more food into his face.

"Hmm? I'm fantastic. Super happy! Why do you ask?"

"Well, your tail, it's moving around a whole bunch. My sister's tail does that sometimes too."

"Pfft, well, my tail does this a lot when I'm with my family, I just can't help but be excited."

Bardock chimed in. "It's not unusual for that. Our tails are good at expressing ourselves. Even my tail does it a little when I get to eat."

Bosa looked to the side, still with large meat on the bone in his mouth, he looked like a chipmunk with his cheeks filled. "Oh,-" He chewed and swallowed before continuing to speak. "That's what my Papa's tail does when he eats too." Then there was a thing he wanted to ask, but didn't know how to bring it up yet.

The feast continued, until everything was finished, and Bosa laid on his back rubbing his stuffed belly. Bardock did a similar thing.

"Hey, Bosa. You've got something else you want to ask don't you?"

"Huh? How did you know, grandpa?"

"Eh, call it instinct or whatever. So what is it? It's just the two of us here right now."

Bosa gulped, mustering up the courage. "Um, what does it mean for you to wrap your tail around someone else?"

"Oh? I uh, I don't really know… I'd bet Gine knows though. She's more knowledgeable on that kind of stuff. I'm only good at fighting."

"Huh? Oh, well I'll ask grandma about it then." He flipped up to his feet and stripped. "Come on grandpa, it's bath time!"

With the bath being large enough for a small family, Gine had already jumped in. She was half curious about why the tub was so big. That was about the time that Bosa ran in, scrubbed himself, and then jumped into the tub.

"Hi grandma! What does it mean to wrap your tail around someone else?"

Gine, a little startled by the sudden company, then noticed that Bardock came in as well. "I see, so that's why the tub is so big."

Bosa giggled, his innocent childish giggle, and stretched his arms in a big motion. "Huh? Of course the tub is big. Baths are more fun with the family!"

"So you take baths with others on the regular?"

Bosa nodded with a big smile. "Yep! I always take a bath with someone… Until I got here. At first it was always with my mother, grandmother, or a caretaker. Then it was with my mother, mama Chichi, and Aunty Launch. And then when I was old enough to really start training I had lots of baths with Papa and my uncles. But I only remember the ones with my little brother and sister, and our cousin."

"Sounds like you were all really close then."

"Yep! We're all very close."

"Alright, so then, you wanted to know more about our tails. I'll answer you, just come closer okay."

Bosa got closer and then was once again pulled into Gine's embrace. She added her tail as part of it too. That was enough to give Bosa the information he needed.

"Oh, so it's about people you love then? I see now."

Later on, the days continued with more training. And Bosa had earned his second earring, placing them both on a single ear. He was now recognized as an apprentice Kai.

King Kai chuckled. "Now that you are an apprentice Kai, I can start teaching you Kai abilities, like this one." A small block of metal appeared floating above his right hand. Then a bead of sweat rolled, as three very curious individuals stared at the block. "Achem, I'm sorry, but this is something that only Bosa is allowed to learn. His tasks as a Kai will eventually demand the use of such abilities."

Bardock frowned, but backed down. "I understand. I'm still working on that idea Bosa had for me. I can't believe I never thought to try and control the Super Saiyan transformation."

Gine pouted a little, not wanting to give up on it. "What is this material? It looks really strong."

"It's called Katchin, it's the hardest metal in the universe." He got a little prideful and then began describing a bit more. "It's also a practice measure we Kai's use to determine just how good we are at our creation technique. So, do you want to see-"

"Can you make me a whole set of pots and pans… No, a whole fully equipped kitchen with this stuff?!"

"Huh? Uhm, I guess…" Actually, that would drain me too much. I'd be far too drained to create those planets that I was assigned the other day. She looks excited now. Perhaps I should but… I know. "How about this, once Bosa has mastered this, he can start making you whatever you like. Does that sound good?"

"Huh? Yes, that'll work. Now, I'm going to practice my culinary techniques, there's so much to learn, I can't wait!"

King Kai let out an exhausted sigh after Gine left. "Alright, Bosa. You've got a lot to learn. And this won't be easy. So I'll be straight with you now, I was tasked to make more planets than usual this time around, the reason is because you are a Kai in training, also known as an Apprentice Kai. Some of these planets are going to be a test for you to create."

Bosa's eyes lit up. "Wow! Really? That sounds like a whole lot of fun! But, is it alright to change my training focus right now? I learned how to heal but that fission thing is not easy. It is definitely the most difficult one."

"I think it will be a good thing for you. This might help you with that skill. Now, are you ready to begin learning all about this skill?"

"Yes! I'm ready!"

Underneath a tree, Bardock meditated, while Bubbles dropped apples on him. Gine was cooking, with a giant smile on her face. Gregory was actually interested in the new foods, offering to be the chief taste tester. And while they all did that, King Kai began training Bosa in the Kai abilities.
