Chapter 4 - Chapter 5: Crossed Paths

I told Levi that I was going to try to find Yvonne, and I headed to the spot where I had turned away from her the night before, just on the other side of the road. I waited a bit, and then there she was. Excitement bubbled up inside me, and I couldn't help but laugh to myself. My face was full of emotions—a large smile plastered across my lips and my eyes wide with joy. She was wearing a fitted, high-neck, long-sleeved black shirt with a slightly oversized black jacket that matched the texture of her high-waisted, slim-cut leather pants, which gleamed in the light.

I walked parallel to them but slightly faster. Once I was far enough ahead, I moved to the other side and approached them. As soon as I saw them, I broke into an intensely happy expression. Lena noticed me first and smiled, nudging Yvonne with her elbow to get her attention. Yvonne, however, didn't react at all; she kept her stoic expression and continued walking straight.

"What a coincidence running into you again," I said, stopping right in front of them.

"A coincidence, huh?" Yvonne replied, halting alongside Lena.

"Yeah, magnum."

"What are you trying to do?" she asked, a hint of challenge in her tone.

"Nothing in particular, Yvonne Sainz," I replied, adopting a serious expression.

"Are you crazy?" she asked, narrowing her eyes slightly.

"I'm just playing; don't worry," I said, giving her a light pat on the shoulder.

"Oh, go fu—" she started, her voice rising, but I interrupted her.

I turned to Lena and extended my hand. "Hi, nice to meet you, Lena Rivers."

"Hi," she smiled back. "Nice to meet you too, Felix Knight."

"Oh, wow." I placed my hand on my heart with an exaggerated expression. "Good heavens, that caught me off guard."

"Hahaha," she laughed. "I expected you to find Yvonne, and once you found her, it would be a piece of cake to find me, right?"

"You're going to make me fall in love," I teased, biting my lip. I caught Yvonne watching us, her expression puzzled.

"Hahaha, I wouldn't want to steal from my friend," Lena said, playfully nudging Yvonne.

"Have you lost your goddamn mind?" Yvonne muttered, a mix of amusement and disbelief crossing her face.

"Hey, don't worry, Yvonne. I'm just appreciating the fine company," I said, throwing Lena a playful wink. "Anyway, Yvonne, are you ready to give me your number?" Yvonne looked at me, clearly confused, and I noticed Lena glancing at her with a smile.

"Why don't you get her number since you're all flirty together?" Yvonne asked, annoyance creeping into her voice.

"Flirty? No, just friendly joking. Right, Lena?" I shrugged, hoping to provoke her further.

"Totally," Lena replied, smiling and leaning in slightly to get a better view of Yvonne's face.

"Now that I think about it, it's not a bad idea; maybe we can go out sometime," I suggested to Lena.

"Sure, give me your phone," Lena said, beaming. I stared at Yvonne with a smirk as Lena typed in the number. As soon as I noticed Yvonne's head move, I turned to her, giving her a broad smile. Yvonne squinted, still skeptical.

"Here you go," Lena said, handing my phone back to me.

"Thank you, dear," I teased.

"No problem." Her eyes twinkled with mischief.

"Alright, then I'm going to get going now. Bye, Lena," I said, reaching out for another handshake.

"Bye, Felix," she said, shaking my hand.

"Goodbye, Yvonne," I said as I started walking away.

"Go to hell," Yvonne shot back.

I laughed out loud and continued walking, feeling a rush of exhilaration.
