Chapter 22 - Home

Sil gasped for air. The fluorescent light shone above, the room was white, and everything was so bright. Sil went to cover his eyes until they could adjust. He sat up and looked around and noticed that he was in some sort of medical room. His clothes were changed into a blue hospital gown, and an oxygen mask was placed over his mouth. There was a blonde woman who was hunched over his bed, her hand holding onto his. She was asleep.

Sil laid back down on the bed. With his free arm, he covered his eyes and relaxed. There was a slight wetness that was beginning to form where his eyes were. The emotions caused him to sob, but he didn't want to disturb his sister. After everything he had gone through, all the intense battles he had endured, and every struggle he had surpassed, Sil was tearing up over seeing his sister again.

"I'm such a crybaby…" Sil whispered.

Despite his feelings on the matter, Sil just wanted to stay there with her forever. Her embrace felt so real after so long of just seeing messages on a screen.

Sil laid there for who knows how long, listening to Vicky's breathing.

He knew that he couldn't stay in this moment forever as a particular green-haired man entered the room. Sil lifted his arm, and shuffled in bed to sit upright. He looked at Logan, then gestured to Vicky, indicating to stay quiet for her sake.

Logan stood next to the two of them and began to whisper. "You should be resting too."

Sil tiredly smiled. "Yeah… these lights though…"

Logan looked at the light overhead, then turned to look at his wife. "She waited here for you ever since she brought you on board, you know. Didn't want to leave your side."

Sil held back a sob. He told himself he had done enough crying today, but the waterworks came anyway. He covered his eyes again in an attempt to hide his feelings, when he suddenly felt another embrace on his body, he peeked under his arm and saw Logan hugging him. Logan wasn't a very touchy person, there were only a few that he would allow himself to be this physical with.

Sil couldn't hold it back anymore and began to fully sob. It was a full-on ugly cry as snot came out of his nose, but he didn't care at this point. He tightly hugged Logan and Vicky as if letting go would mean they would disappear. This did wake her up, but she just hugged him back.

He missed this so fucking much. His thoughts had been plagued with ideas of death. Thinking he was going to die on that planet. Believing he was going to die without anyone noticing. He thought he was going to die alone. The two people in front of him would prove that very fear wrong. Sil was so lucky to have them, and for them to understand everything.

Vicky stepped back to carefully take off his oxygen mask. She grabbed the edge of the blanket and wiped away his tears. His sobs were slowly beginning to lessen, and Sil could notice that she was wrapping the blanket around him tightly.

"So much for being stronger than me." Vicky joked with her own tears coming along.

Sil couldn't help but chuckle while weeping. "Hahahahah, yeah…"

They heard sniffling, and they both turned to look at Logan, who was fighting back his tears.

"Logan, You're-"

"I'm not–" Logan wiped away the water on his face. "I'm not crying. There's dust in this room. It's allergies.

Sil was the first to chuckle at the obvious lie, which caused Vicky to giggle, and Logan joined them. Suddenly, all three were laughing and crying.

—

The trip back didn't feel as long now that Sil was with Vicky and Logan. He was just glad to be able to talk to them in person again, which felt way different than text. A major contributing factor was that there wasn't any more delayed messaging. They could just talk freely.

When Sil recovered from his injuries, Vicky decorated the ship with balloons and confetti. The three of them celebrated his early birthday, even if Logan reluctantly joined because he didn't particularly care for events like these. He'd enjoy it for Sil's sake.

Vicky took out a massive cake, one with so many varieties in its slices because she didn't know what kind Sil liked. He ended up trying one of every flavor, making him sick, and needing to go to the medical room again. Logan made a comment about how he keeps going back, which led to Vicky glaring at him so hard Sil swore he became shorter.

They still talked about random things that came to mind. One such conversation while eating lunch was when Sil was curious about Vicky and Logan's transition journey.

"Like, did you have a goal in mind when you figured things out?" Sil asked.

Vicky placed a finger on her lip while looking off to the side, "Not really anything concrete, I just wanted to be a hotter version of myself. 'Course the confidence helps, but I did really want to try out a wolf cut for a good while."

"Oh yeah, I still remember that hairstyle," Sil spoke thinking about that time.

Logan clasped his hands together, "I didn't have a goal in mind. I realized rather young, so taking testosterone and getting surgery was simple enough. I let myself figure it out as I went. I didn't have anything special about me other than my cybernetics."

Vicky spat out her food laughing, "Ha! Bullshit! Sil, you're never gonna believe this, but Logan got jealous of Borden and his dalki dick so he made himself one! BWAHAHAHAHAA!"

Logan's face darkened recalling the incident that led to that conclusion. Vicky didn't know the full truth of the matter. Sil however couldn't help but bust out laughing alongside his sister.

"Are you fucking serious?! Is that what you meant by you saying Borden knew how to use it well?! " Sil wiped away a tear from his eye. "Logan, PLEASE tell me that's true."

"Yeah… it was because of that…" Logan was too embarrassed to say what really happened. It wasn't out of jealousy, but from an experiment with him and Peter. Of course, he would rather die than admit that Peter got carried away, forcing Logan to come up with a quick solution. Instead he decided to say something else, "...You could say we've matched."

Sil continued laughing, until the realization of what Logan said hit him. Suddenly, it was Sil's turn to have his face darkened.

"Wait— you don't mean—?!"

"Relax!" Vicky slapped her brother's back, "He got it replaced before we did anything like that, he's just messing with you."

Logan smirked. "I much preferred using my cybernetics on Vicky."

"Oooh~ You do?" Vicky bit her lip and played with her hair. "You always seemed to get quite creative with your inventions. When was the last time you got a new part?"

"Too long," Logan spoke with half-lidded eyes and a devilish smile.

"Okay that's it," Sil stood up, slamming his hands on the table, "You two get a room, I'm leaving."

Vicky and Logan were as intimate with each other as they usually were, and they left to get a room. While Sil showed obvious distaste for how publicly affectionate they were, he was secretly happy for them. They managed to find someone, which was more than what he could say for himself. Before he would entirely give up on Quinn's memory, he wanted to revisit him.

When Sil moved back to the spare bedroom that was his temporarily, he avoided looking at the reflective surfaces on the ship. He knew that his beard had grown back, and while it wasn't as long as before… That time, it still meant that he looked like him again. Sil was afraid of how he would react seeing himself.
