Chapter 11 - Gotham's Darkest Game

Felix stood up, brushed off his clothes, and equipped his gear. Ravager looked at him mockingly, "Well, now we have ourselves a zombie. What's going to happen now?"

Felix just grumbled and called Gae Bolg back; in an instant, the spear returned to his hand.

The sound of police sirens could be heard.

The three of them disappeared into the darkness of Gotham.

An hour later, Felix arrived home and headed straight to his bed.

As he lay there staring at the ceiling, he thought to himself. Ra's al Ghul was dead… or at least temporarily out of the picture. But that shadowy figure... Who was that? Their strength and reflexes couldn't belong to a normal assassin. Was the League of Assassins raising a new threat?

Morning.

Felix was wandering through Gotham's gloomy streets when suddenly his phone beeped.

A message came through for everyone in Gotham's underground world.

[Bloodhound, dead or alive.

Reward: 500 million dollars]

Felix frowned. "Fuck."

With his mind elsewhere, he entered a restaurant.

He bought a fruit juice and sat at a table, resting his chin on one hand, lost in thought.

Damn League of Assassins.

Felix considered speaking with Batman. He could be of help, but suddenly, a police car stopped in front of the restaurant, and two officers got out.

They were heading toward Felix.

Felix could sense a trap, and when they stopped in front of him, one of the officers asked, "Felix Cainhurst, is that you?"

Felix simply replied, "Yes, what's the matter?"

The officer looked serious. "We need you to come with us. We have some paperwork to handle at the station."

Felix nodded and got into the car with them.

As Felix gazed outside, the car veered off its path and headed toward Gotham Bridge.

Looking out the window, Felix spoke, "Where are we going?"

The officer in front answered coldly, "Just a few questions. Relax."

Felix cursed internally. This was a trap.

But for what? Had the 500 million dollar bounty already attracted the attention of hired killers?

The officer next to him moved his hand toward his weapon. At that moment, Felix made his move.

In an instant, he grabbed the officer's wrist and twisted it. The officer screamed as he dropped his weapon. Felix quickly drew his knife from his belt and pressed it to the man's throat.

The officer in front reached for his own weapon, but Felix was faster. He kicked the front seat and slammed the officer's head into the steering wheel.

The car went out of control and fell off the bridge.

Felix jumped out before the car hit the water and plunged into the sea.

"Ahhh, this hurts," Felix groaned.

The impact with the concrete was brutal, but Felix swam to the nearest shore.

When he reached the shore, he took a deep breath, his body still aching.

His body, drenched, disappeared into Gotham's shadows.

At one point, Felix entered an alley and heard a sound, turning to look at the person behind him.

It was Kara.

Felix leaned against a wall and coldly looked at Kara, "Are you after me too? Didn't I tell you not to follow me?"

Kara's face darkened, this guy was so rude. "I can help you, Felix, just trust me. I don't know what happened, but there are people after you. I came from Metropolis, and I heard your fight. Let me get you out of this mess."

Felix just grumbled, "I don't need your help."

Kara got angry and walked towards Felix. "Why are you like this? Let me help. We'll go to my cousin; he can help you too. Just please, let me help."

Felix didn't know what to say. Kara stood in front of him, looking at his yellow hair and face, seeing the desire to help in her eyes. "Kara, thank you."

Kara hadn't expected that, and before she knew it, Felix grabbed her and flew them both to Metropolis, to his own home.

Felix would only stay here for 15 days; after that, the game would reset.

Felix lay down on the nearest couch and fell asleep.

Kara, seeing that Felix was asleep, took a deep breath. She felt something in that moment—maybe guilt, maybe an obsessive need. Felix's eyes were closed, but he looked so peaceful that Kara saw a sense of calm in his expression. He seemed to have left some inner battle behind. But Kara was still thinking about the past, about the debt she owed him... When she had pushed Felix off the skyscraper, she had thought he was truly dead. It had been so far away, and deep in her heart, the scars of what she had done still remained. Now, however, she wanted to somehow make things right.

After watching Felix for a while, Kara slowly moved to the other side of the room. She still felt guilty, but being with him felt right in some way. Maybe by protecting him, she could make up for some of her past mistakes.

Felix's eyes suddenly fluttered open. Kara, noticing this, quickly took a step back.

"Felix... Are you still asleep?" she asked softly.

Felix slowly opened his eyes, a little tired, but with that cold and hard gaze, he looked at Kara. "I woke up... It was like a dream again," he said, his eyes still a bit blurry. Then he noticed the pain in his body and winced slightly. "Thank you so much, Kara. But we both know this isn't over. Somehow, I need to finish this."

Kara nodded and took a step closer to him. "I know, but people like you don't have it easy. Things never go smoothly in Gotham, do they?" she said, giving meaning to Felix's gaze.

Felix took a deep breath and sat up. "No, things in this city are never easy. And this bounty... So many people want me dead, and more will come."

He paused for a moment, then turned to Kara. "But I need to tell you something. Getting out of this mess could endanger not only me, but the people around me too."

Kara listened carefully to Felix's words. "I'll try to protect you. I won't let anyone hurt you more. But you know that Gotham's shadows always follow. I've got my own battles to fight. And maybe, in this war, we'll need each other."
