Chapter 179 - Prison Break Begins

Klin Prison.

Rocket spoke while standing in line for food, "If we want to get out of here, we need to get into that guard tower first."

He continued explaining their escape plan as the prisoners queued up to receive tableware.

"To get into the tower, we'll need a few things."

After grabbing his food, Rocket took the lead to find a table, still talking.

"First, we need one of those security bracelets the guards wear to control the doors."

He glanced up toward the guard tower, where a guard was currently using the bracelet to open and close the doors. The device was clearly visible.

"Leave it to me," Gamora said confidently, already stepping up to take responsibility.

Rocket then pointed at a nearby man walking past them. "That guy. I need his leg."

"His prosthetic leg?" Star-Lord asked, baffled.

"Exactly," Rocket said. "I'm not gonna use him, just the leg."

Star-Lord gave the man another glance and then shrugged. "Alright."

They reached an empty table, and Rocket described the last item.

"See that wall with the flashing yellow light? There's a black passage back there. Inside it is an X-Stone Energy Battery. Purple box, green wire. It's in the guard tower. I need it."

Gamora leaned closer. "And how exactly are we supposed to get all that?"

Rocket grinned mischievously. "Flash those bald guards a sexy look. Makes negotiations easier."

Neither Rocket nor the others noticed Groot quietly walking away.

Groot was already headed toward the wall Rocket had pointed out, aiming straight for the battery.

As Gamora argued with Rocket, Star-Lord added, "That wall's twenty feet tall and crawling with guards. There's no way anyone can get up there without being seen."

But Groot had already reached it.

Using his natural abilities, he extended his legs, growing taller and taller until he could reach the battery.

Drax noticed Groot climbing and paused to watch.

Back at the table, Rocket continued, "The most critical part is..."

Just as Groot gripped the battery and began pulling at the wires, Rocket was still warning, "Once you remove the battery, the alarms go off. So we need to grab it last."

Groot yanked the battery again, and the wire snapped.

All the prison lights shut off.

Everyone looked up in shock. Star-Lord, Gamora, and Rocket turned to see Groot proudly holding the battery.

The shrill alarm blared through the prison.

Groot handed the battery to Rocket like he was offering a gift.

Rocket buried his face in his hands. "I said last, you idiot..."

The drones activated instantly, surrounding Groot.

"Prisoner! Drop the device and return to your cell, or we will open fire!" came the guard's voice from the tower.

Groot growled and shouted back, "I! Am! Groot!"

The drones opened fire.

Groot's arms turned into thick shields of branches, blocking the bullets.

Rocket scurried up Groot's body, cursing. "You big tree-for-brains! I don't even have a weapon!"

More drones swooped in. Groot swatted one away, sending it crashing into the wall.

Meanwhile, guards with rifles approached.

"Take the shot!" one shouted.

Just then, a burly figure appeared beside them—Drax.

He punched two guards out cold and snatched their weapons.

He looked up at Rocket. "Hey, Super Monster!"

He tossed a gun into the air.

Rocket caught it mid-fall. "Now that's more like it!"

He grinned wildly and opened fire, blowing away drones with precise, expert shots.

Meanwhile, Star-Lord caught up to the man with the prosthetic limb.

The guy looked confused. "What do you want from me?"

Star-Lord grabbed his leg. "I need this. For a prison break. Sorry!"

The man blinked, still shocked, as Star-Lord yanked off the prosthetic and ran off.

Elsewhere, Gamora reached the guard tower. As more guards swarmed in, she didn't wait.

She sprinted forward, vaulted into the air, and kicked one guard square in the chest.

He flew backward, crashing to the ground.

Gamora turned, parrying blows and using her agility to knock down the remaining guards one by one.

Finally, only one was left.

"Hand over the bracelet," she said coldly.

The guard, cornered and panting, still refused. "It's not that easy!"

Gamora stepped forward, narrowing her eyes. "I wasn't asking."
