Chapter 19 - One way to survive a Apocalypse

Now, to obey or not to obey is the question. If Silver fails to obey, there was no limit of possibility of what Shaska would do. Lisa's life was definitely on line for this.

She entered through the entry door, and talked straight to the lobby, already familiarised with the entire household ever before entering it before. Silver picked the platters of gold ahead of him, and brought them inside.

"I'll have to give them back later."

Shaska stood in front of the main lobby door while Silver put the gold on the table.

"Should I say something to her when I enter the room?"

"Huh?" That was a puzzling question, Silver had no idea what to say or, about her intentions.

"No, I think you should hear her out first."

Hearing that Shaska opened the main gate and entered into the room.

"It's the intruder lady! Why did you come back?" Sera left her food behind in a second, to confront to returned intruder, but this time she had entered a little bit more visibly civil ways.

" Please have a little mercy on me, Lady Sera. Your uncle let me in through the main door this time, I am not a intruder anymore. You can ask him if you want? Right, Silver."

Silver followed it up with a look at Sera, and a weak nood. "See, I am your guest for now. Can I have a seat?"

Reluctantly, Sera allowed Shaska to have a seat, and Silver quickly followed suite. The room had a fill of awkward silence, where Sera and Silver exchange looks waiting for the lady with smile on her face to say something.

"Well, it has been three weeks since you two have arrived here. There are have been a lot things happening behind the scenes, and I don't like the way things are going for now at least."

"Can you describe it for my monkey brain? I don't I get most of what you said." Sera was pulling on brakes on who she wanted to talk.

"Sera, you should respect someone who is elder than you, she is a guest of our house."

Shaska looked in keen observation of the two who were involved in there talks, keeping up her smile. There was something wrong Silver could sense it.

"I think Sera was right about my words. I should say it more clearly, things have not been going easy for me, and I don't want all of you make more trouble for me. Do I make myself clear?"

The two just nodded when the smile fell of Shaska's face, there definitely tiredness in her eyes.

"I never thought having a power as the ability to observe everything could so much pressure on the brain. She must have seen many things she didn't want to."

"What is pushing trouble on you? Can we do anything to help this?" Silver wanted to help her, if that genuine help could help solve both of their problems.

"The breaking of the northern wall. Alsana's attack has brought a wave of trouble on the northern part, no matter who good the warlords are, they can't manage prevent every monster from entering into the territory."

"Then call upon your amries. You must have mages and soldiers ready right? Aren't you sending them to the battlefield?"

Shaska closed her eyes and took a deep breath, and took a glass of water in front of her. After finishing it, she began speaking again with her head resting on the pillow.

"There are more problems than just Alsana. Dynasty is also gathering there forces at the border in the past few days, so we need to send our armies on the battlefield. And the warlords, are left to manage miles worth of borders. Not possible for us to do that."

"Why is Dynasty inviting a war, wouldn't they get destroyed to ruins too if Alsana breakthrough Uro? And anyway, if they start a war, can't just you go there and destroys thousands at once?"

Shaska scoffed at Silver's naivety, and when Sera looked in dismay when Silver finished speaking. Something was wrong, and Silver just didn't get it.

"See there are three things you need to understand. First is the idea of mutually assured destruction, if warlords go down on the field it will lead of unnecessary slaughter of forces, and if a side knows they are losing they will just make sure to kill all the civilians on the other side, no there is nothing for the other to rule. Things like this have happened in the past, and we have learned from that. Warlords do not win wars, men do."

Sera nodded to all of that like she was student of war and tactics learning new strategies from her master, "What is second thing?" she asked.

"The second thing is that, Dynasty knows that we can stop Alsana from taking over us. All they want to see is us getting drained down. And power negotiating over us, since our warlord are tired, the things I told you might not be a success."

"The third thing is the the civilians must not know, about that the great wall of north was breached. All of the fighting in the north must happen in secret, and all the people should only know about the Dynasty is scheming something so we can get more people in the army."

"But the wall is alright, when I last saw it. The wall was standing big and tall, I think the wall was repaired. Who's doing was it?"

"The kind of Uro, Lord Mathers. He is the only person in the world who could have possibly repaired the wall after it breaking apart, but it comes at a cost."

"Cost? The warlord have infinite amounts of energy what could be stopping him?"

Both the ladies once again combined there glares to look at Silver he was stupidest person in the room, maybe something even worse.

"There are rules using powers, Silver. There is only one rule in this "The Law of Balanced Exchange" . Everything else in this world is governed by this rule, we warlords pay a price for getting our powers and there is cost of being strong too."

"...."

"Don't say you don't know what happen to a warlord when they are born? Were you really born in this world or are you some sort of outsider. Where were your house in the north, I don't remember."

"Near the mountain range..."

"Which mountain range? I know you have retained some of memories of the past, including the name of the lady that saved you, so you should able to remember which mountain range was it. There are three over the entire boundary."

All the eyes were on Silver, Sera probably had no idea of what the name was... he had to think up of something.

"The forbidden mountains...." Silver had no idea why he said that, it was the name of the place where the devil king's general was residing, he could only wish that it was possible place to go.

Shaska was taken visibly back by this revelation, like something just hit her like truck. She began think deeply, very deeply... while Sera and Silver began to whisper.

"We lived in the forbidden mountains, but Theresa told me that we lived near the coastal mountains?"

"She was lying...there are bad rumours about people who live near the forbidden mountains."

Silver was quite sure from the reactions, that the forbidden mountains was the place one could go. So, know he could make up things on the go, since no one had any idea about them. But, if Shaska questioned him a tiny bit, he was as good as gone.

"You say you live near the forbidden mountains...no wonder Sera could burn the rat to ash in a second. To live there you must have immense knowledge of the fire manipulation."

"Yes... I can use fireballs on the go..."

On the face Silver was calm... but deep inside the was panicking.

" Things are going and not going my way at the same time. All the things I come up with somehow make sense."

" I think I just might the right work that helps the both of us."

" Now, that is something I would like to hear."

"And I hope things keep going this way."
