Allen was also a bit puzzled. He hadn't expected Laws to just stare at him blankly for a moment and then agree to his suggestion of taking Sylphiette to Roa for "further studies" after just four sentences.

He had even prepared a lot of words, but they never made it out of his mouth.

But from the redness in Laws's eyes, Allen could see the genuine emotion of this old father.

So, he only replied with one word.

After all, taking care of Sylphiette was something he naturally had to do.

There was no need for flowery words.

However, a small hiccup occurred while packing.

As Allen was helping Sylphiette organize her magic books, class notes, and diary, he suddenly heard her let out a short "Huh?!"

She energetically rushed in front of Allen, snatched the diary from his hands, and left him holding the other books.

This left Allen completely baffled.

In his confusion, Allen was turned around by Sylphiette, forced to face the door.

Since Laws's house was small, some everyday items were placed in very visible spots.

If Allen helped pack, wouldn't that be awkward?

In the end, after hugging her parents and promising to visit home from time to time, Sylphiette left the house.

It's worth noting that Laws and Sylphiette's mother hugged Allen along with Sylphiette.

Allen blinked, then silently reached out and hugged them back.

However, in his arms, Sylphiette's body was as stiff as a stick.

Straight as a rod.

Sylphiette declined her parents' offer to walk her to Paul's house. They didn't press further, as the Greyrat family's noble status was well-known, and the carriages from that afternoon had been seen by the entire village.

Roa?

That was a good place.

If Sylphiette could go to a higher and farther place,

Laws and Sylphiette's mother would be comforted.

They felt they couldn't give Sylphiette a good family background and had even bestowed upon her green hair, a symbol of misfortune, and a childhood filled with bullying.

So, they shouldn't create more hardships for her.

Hardships shouldn't be glorified.

She deserved a better future.

And so, as Laws and Sylphiette's mother waved goodbye, Allen and Sylphiette left.

When Allen and Sylphiette returned, only an hour had passed.

Sylphiette walked beside Allen with her head down, a small bag on her back.

Allen held her hand, the rain unable to touch them.

So, the Flow technique could be used like this?

Paul, Zenith, and Rudeus had been eagerly waiting by the window. When they saw the two figures approaching through the rain, they all clenched their fists and cheered.

Then, the three of them rushed out the door.

Inside the house, Philip calmly sipped some water.

This was completely within his expectations.

Lilia was taking care of the children, playfully poking Aisha, who was pouting and looking around, seemingly unhappy as she searched for someone.

This was also within her expectations.

But was this scene within the expectations of Paul, Zenith, and the others?

Who knows?

They were just happily running outside, shouting and cheering.

Shouldn't expected things still bring joy?

When Paul asked Allen how Laws had agreed, and Allen gave an answer that even surprised himself,

Paul's face showed clear astonishment. His expression twitched several times, and his amazement couldn't even be hidden by the rain.

His entire face was practically screaming two words:

'Incredible.'

With just one word, he had taken someone's daughter away.

You're really something.

And Laws, that guy, is also something.

Both of them are something.

In the rain, Sylphiette's white dress was covered in mud, and she wore a thick coat. Her eyes sparkled as she thanked Zenith for helping carry her things, but she kept fidgeting unnaturally.

To Zenith,

this was very clear body language.

As soon as Allen appeared in her line of sight, Sylphiette instinctively looked away.

It was like she had returned to the way she was when they first met.

In the afternoon, she avoided Allen's smiling face.

Now, she avoided his figure.

It seemed the same,

but it was actually completely different.

What kind of feeling was this?

Zenith smiled and glanced beside her—

Paul was still wildly making faces at Allen, but Allen looked completely clueless, as if he had no idea what Paul was up to.

'How nice.'

After everyone had another cup of hot water and Allen played with Aisha for a while,

the time for departure finally arrived.

Philip had brought four carriages for this trip.

The first carriage was Philip's own, accompanied by two beast-girl maids—one with rabbit ears and the other with wolf ears.

The second carriage was for Lady Eris, accompanied by a beast-girl with cat ears, just like Eris.

The third carriage carried two servants and some snacks for the road.

The fourth carriage had one beast-girl and an empty compartment, meant for Allen and the others' luggage.

Each carriage had a coachman.

The arrangements were very reasonable.

Allen, Rudeus, and Sylphiette were assigned to the third carriage, while the original servants were moved to the fourth carriage to look after the luggage.

Philip suggested assigning the beast-girl from the fourth carriage to serve Allen and the others, but this was firmly rejected by the iron-willed men of the Boreas family, much to Rudeus's disappointment.

Which official could withstand such a test?

What a joke!

That's what they said, but when it came time to board, an unexpected situation arose.

Allen walked toward the third carriage, while Sylphiette followed with her head down, her white hair swaying in front of her face. She didn't look at the road, only at her feet, following Allen step by step.

The two of them boarded the carriage one after the other.

Rudeus, of course, followed behind, but just as he was about to step up, a red figure suddenly bumped into him with a shoulder charge. Before he could get angry, the cat-eared maid appeared beside him.

She smiled warmly, gently patted his head, and softly pushed him toward the second carriage, telling him there were sweets on the table inside and that he shouldn't be shy.

Then, she carefully closed the door behind him.

As the carriage started moving, amidst the sounds of Paul, Zenith, and Lilia waving goodbye outside the window, and Aisha's crying, Rudeus mechanically waved back.

Then, he turned to look inside the carriage.

It was empty.

Only then did he snap out of his confusion.

"??"

"Why am I here??"

In the third carriage, Lady Eris was in high spirits. Her fiery red eyebrows twitched, her arms were crossed, and her legs swung back and forth—everything about her radiated pride.

Allen stared at her, speechless.

Beside him, the cat-eared maid smiled gracefully, her tail swaying gently.

Eris, on the other hand, was examining Sylphiette, the "teacher" she had personally chosen.

This was the first time she had chosen a teacher of her own volition.

The young lady felt quite pleased with herself.

And what was Sylphiette doing?

The carriage rocked back and forth.

Two people sat on each side.

Sylphiette's leg brushed against Allen's.

She stared at their lightly touching legs, the blush on her face never fading since the incident upstairs.

Memories echoed in her mind from a distant time.

It was a sentence.

A sentence Allen had once said to Rudeus, but it was directed at her teacher, Roxy.

"Because I'm certain we'll meet again, I'm at peace."

So, the reason Allen had been so calm all afternoon was because he was certain he would take her to Roa.

That's why he was at peace.

Was the night rain outside the window cold?

Yes, it was cold.

Was Allen's knee warm?

Yes, it was warm.

Was her heart burning?

Yes, it was burning.

So hot that Sylphiette felt like she was melting.

The rain poured down violently.

Ten kilometers south of Buena Village,

in the forest, amidst the rain, someone opened their eyes.

"Calculating the time…"

"…I can't quite figure it out, but it should be about time."

"…Allen."
