The school hall buzzed with excitement, it was filled with parents and children dressed for the event.
Aurora shut her eyes lightly, and stood at the back, her arms folded as she watched Seraphina from a distance.
Her little girl stood among her classmates, her eyes darting toward the entrance every few seconds, disappointment slowly sinking in.
Aurora's heart clenched.
Seraphina hadn't begged her to invite Tim. But Aurora knew she needed Tim. Liam won't give her the amount of happiness Tim would.
She was afraid. Afraid of how easily Tim slipped through her walls. Afraid of how much control he still had over her emotions.
She was afraid of how much her daughter loved him.
"Mommy... he's not coming, is he?" Seraphina's tiny voice echoed in her head from earlier that morning. It hurt her that her daughter had so much faith in her to call Tim even if she told her she doesn't have to.
