Chapter 20 - The rise of the darkness

Den stood in the middle of the burning city.

Bodies everywhere.

His sword of Oblivion pulsed with power.

Screams echoed.

Even innocent children… he slaughtered them all.

The more he killed, the stronger he became.

Then—

A bright light appeared.

Luz and Elena arrived.

Den turned and smirked.

"Oh, you're here."

He raised his sword, the blood of the innocent dripping from it.

"But you're too late. I've already killed so many people in this city."

Den mocked Luz, waiting for his reaction.

But—

Luz didn't answer.

His fists clenched in rage.

Den stepped forward, his eyes cold.

"Pathetic."

"The Light God chose the wrong person to be a descendant.

You can't even protect the people who believe in you."

"You're a FAILURE, Luz."

Luz's anger burned inside him.

But he stayed focused.

"Elena, evacuate the civilians to Biringan. NOW."

Elena hesitated but nodded. She ran to help the survivors.

Luz and Den faced each other.

Both warriors gripped their swords.

The battle began.

Luz swung first—Den blocked. Sparks flew.

Den countered—Luz dodged.

They traded blow after blow.

Luz managed to land a deep slash on Den's side.

But—

Den kicked Luz hard, sending him flying into a building.

Luz groaned in pain.

Den turned to Elena.

She was leading the last group of civilians away.

Den smirked.

"Oh no, you don't."

He rushed toward her, sword raised.

Elena froze in fear.

The sword of Oblivion was about to cut her down—

CLANG!

Luz appeared in front of her, blocking the attack.

Den growled.

But then—

Something unexpected happened.

The Sword of Light…

began to shake.

A dark aura wrapped around it.

Luz's eyes widened.

"No…"

The Sword of Light…

was being absorbed.

Den's Sword of Oblivion devoured it.

Luz watched, horrified, as his sword disappeared.

Gone.

Den laughed.

He felt a surge of power flow through his body.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Luz saw an opening.

He fired a powerful light beam straight at Den's chest.

BOOM!

Den was blasted backward.

He hit the ground hard.

But—

His wounds began to heal instantly.

Luz stared in shock.

Den stood up, laughing again. "Fool. That weak attack won't kill me."

Luz's mind raced.

He was outmatched.

No Ino.

No Sword of Light.

He had to retreat.

Gathering all his remaining power, he teleported himself, Elena, and the survivors back to Biringan.

Den watched them disappear.

His lips curled into a satisfied grin.

"Run, Luz. Run while you still can."

He looked at his sword—now empowered by the Light God's weapon.

He was unstoppable.

In Biringan

Luz and the civilians arrived safely.

Munfa ran to him. "Luz! What happened?!"

Elena, still shaken, answered.

"The Sword of Light… is gone."

Munfa's face paled.

The people of Biringan overheard.

Panic spread.

Their leader—their hope—had lost his greatest weapon.

People started whispering.

"We're doomed…"

"Den will kill us all now…"

"The Light God chose the wrong person…"

Some people even blamed Luz.

Elena and Munfa clenched their fists.

They knew—

Den was going to attack soon.

And this time…

Luz wasn't ready.
