Chapter 40 - the weight of missing you

Every pebble counts a step, every smile steals a breath, and every laughter whether real or forced rises from the heart. But with you, it was different. It was effortless. It was alive.

Until you left.

And then, suddenly, every step felt heavier, dragging me through days that stretched too long, nights that felt endless. Every breath became shallower, like the air itself had lost its warmth. Every forced smile tasted bitter, every laughter felt like an echo in an empty hall, meaningless, void of the life it once carried.

I never knew silence could be so loud. That absence could carve through me like a knife, leaving behind nothing but a hollowed-out version of myself. The world didn't stop when you walked away, but somehow, mine did. The sun still rose, but it lost its glow. The days still passed, but they bled into each other, indistinguishable, never-ending.

And then came the week. God, that unbearable week. It stretched and stretched until time itself felt cruel, taunting me with memories, with moments I wanted to relive, with the sound of your voice that I swore still lingered in the air. That was when I truly understood what it meant to miss someone not just their presence but the feeling of them, the warmth they carried, the space they unknowingly filled.
