Aria's pov
I was taken to a maze to find my way out. I was blindfolded as they led me inside, the heavy cloth pressing against my eyes, cutting me off from the world.
I assumed it would be a piece of cake. After all, I had always been good at puzzles, and how hard could a maze be? But Geoffrey's words rang in my ears, "Never assume anything about the trial, Aria. They can surprise you."
The mirror clearly surprised me but I wasn't going to let my guard down again.
I untied my blindfold and looked around me. The maze was not what I expected.
Instead of simple field, the labyrinth was a twisting, turning landscape of towering stone corridors and winding paths.
The walls seemed to pulse with a life of their own, a faint humming sound emanating from them. I sighed to myself and started walking,
The first fork in the path came quickly. To my left, a narrow, dark tunnel that seemed to close in on itself.
