Anna looked out into the darkness, her eyes showing the movement of everything in black and white. The tents were set around a campfire. Anna had no idea what she was doing when setting up the tent, having lived in the city all her life; her family had been camping when they were alive, although they rented a cabin, not a campsite. So she had to have the others set up her tent and their own. Anna knew that with everything that had been happening, she had become a pacrat to the point that part of her felt it was normal to have as much as she had in her inventory.
"At least I don't keep literal trash." (Anna)
Anna said the campfire rose in the air behind her because she used the boxes holding the tents as a fire starter. Anna waited till the fire evened out and returned to the fire pit, the others crouching around the fire, squinting into the darkness.
"Can you not see in the dark?" (Anna)
"No, wait, you can?" (Mark)
Mark spoke loudly and had quickly turned away from the fire pit to look at Anna. Sitting off to the side, Greyson was easily looking into the darkness. When he heard what Anna said, he turned to look at everyone else, realizing they all had surprised expressions and were no longer looking at the fire or using it to see around themselves.
"We got nightvision when we evolved." (Anna, Greyson)
"Okay, what evolution bonuses did everyone get? I thought it was the same for everyone." (Justin)
"Well, I got Nightvision and Quick heal. Night vision lets me see in the dark, although I can't see colors in the darkness, so everything is in greyscale. Still, I have no visibility issues unless someone or something can obscure my sight physically or magically. Then Quick Heal repairs any old future or existing injury to perfect condition. Although it doesn't allow me to regrow any lost limbs, it doesn't heal fatal injuries. Also, before you ask, it only works on myself, not others; otherwise, Mark's hand would be perfectly healed now." (Anna)
Anna pulled a camping pot from her inventory with a couple of water bottles, poured it into the pot, and set it next to the fire.
"I really should have gotten that grate for firepits." (Anna)
"What? You know what you do, you. We will figure out everything else." (Justin)
"I have night vision like her, but I also have the ability called Sturdy Body. It makes my body less likely to take damage, and I am immune to any disease or toxin that affects the body as long as it is natural, not magical." (Greyson)
"I will say I also have a Sturdy Body. My other ability is called danger sense, which allows me to sense whenever someone or something intends to attack me, although it doesn't increase my ability to act on that sense." (Justin)
"I have tough skin, which makes me immune to nonmagical forms of cutting, stabbing, or biting attacks, although blunt attacks still damage me. My next one is Starveless. It makes it so I can't starve to death. I still need water and food. I won't die without food, but still need it to function." (Kyle)
The water Anna was focusing on was starting to boil, so she sprinkled salt into the water with pepper and added some raw meat from when she had butchered the deceased spiked rabbits. Anna still got some odd glances, but everyone besides Anna turned their gazes to Mark.
"Slow heal, no matter what damage I take, my body will repair itself. However, it doesn't heal me perfectly and takes a long time." (Mark)
He lifted his bandaged hand, part of him seeming ready to shake it like a rag doll, but instantly regretted that dubious decision when he got a glare from Anna, who saw what he was prepared to do from the corner of her eye.
"Well, you may heal Mark, but don't do something stupid to make the healing take longer. I say this as the person who treated your injury." (Anna)
"Sorry." (Mark)
Mark looked like he was ready to wilt into himself before swallowing and speaking normally once more and lowering his injured hand.
"My next ability is naturally immune. I-I don't know how to explain it. Any natural weather phenomenon can't kill me. So if it's cold enough to kill someone, I won't die, or if it's hot enough to cause heat stroke, I'll be fine." (Mark)
"Now, seriously, why did I put this off? What are you doing?" (Justin)
"Cooking." (Anna)
"I can see that much, but why are you cooking?" (Justin)
"I was hungry, I've never had rabbit before, and we set up camp and need to eat Kyle from what he told us can't starve to death, but his body can probably still atrophy, and we all have been traveling, and I bet you haven't had freshly made food in a while. All of you look slimmer than you should be because of your faces." (Anna)
"I..." (Justin)
The glare that Anna shot his way made him shut his mouth. Anna sighed internally. Then she sputtered due to a new skill showing up, but Anna went back to cooking, adding more ingredients to make a rabbit stew, adding bullion to the water after splashing the skumm off the top of the boiling water.
"You all will eat. None of you have allergies, right?" (Anna)
"Nah." (Kyle)
"Not that I know of." (Mark)
"You already know that answer." (Greyson)
"Penicillin." (Justin)
"So I need to avoid treating you with Penicillin and I need to avoid peanuts for you." (Anna)
Anna pointed her ladle at Justin first, then pointed it at Greyson. Before a notebook appeared in her hands, the ladle vanished as a pen appeared. She wrote down Justin's allergies, right below Greyson's. Before the notebook and pen vanished again as the ladle reappeared.
