The smug laughter of the Kirigakure ninja, coupled with his dismissive gaze that showed complete disregard for his opponents, instantly redirected the fury of those already teetering on the edge of rage.
"You little brat from Kirigakure!"
Iwagakure shinobi were proud—how could they tolerate such provocation, especially from a kid who hadn't even fully grown?
Yagura gestured toward them with a hand.
Repeatedly provoked, the Iwagakure shinobi were the first to snap! Two of them charged straight at Yagura with coordinated speed and aggression.
Yagura cast a quick glance behind him. The Sunagakure shinobi hadn't moved, merely raising their crossbows in preparation, ready to fire at any moment.
The Iwagakure shinobi closed in, working in perfect sync—one attacking first, the other following up immediately after.
Yagura sidestepped the initial strike, smoothly evading the attack, but the second assailant was already diving down from above.
With a swift motion, Yagura arched backward into a handstand, supporting himself with both hands. He narrowly avoided the downward strike while using his momentum to deliver a powerful kick to the attacking shinobi!
His speed was on a completely different level compared to his opponents.
Before the Iwagakure shinobi could even register how Yagura had dodged, he found himself being launched through the air by a pair of powerful feet!
His body crashed through a wooden railing, only stopping when he slammed into a wall, leaving deep cracks spider-webbing across the surface.
The ease with which Yagura had disposed of a shinobi of equal rank left the Sunagakure observers momentarily stunned.
"Hah!"
The second Iwagakure shinobi took advantage of Yagura's unsteady footing, lunging forward with a kunai in a reverse grip, aiming to stab him in the face while he was supposedly defenseless.
Thick water chakra rapidly coalesced in Yagura's palm, forming a blade that met the kunai head-on.
Looking up at the stunned expression of his opponent, Yagura grinned, baring his teeth.
"Oh, my bad. But you guys are just—"
Too. Weak.
He deliberately enunciated each word, making sure the remaining Iwagakure shinobi could both see and hear him clearly.
"Don't get cocky!"
"?"
The young boy's violet eyes flickered with innocent confusion.
With pure strength alone, Yagura forced the water blade against the kunai, pushing it aside, then sent a heavy punch straight into the shinobi's stomach!
The impact drove the breath from the shinobi's lungs as his kunai slipped from his fingers, clattering to the ground.
He staggered back, mouth opening as if to scream, but only a choked gasp came out. His body curled inward, doubled over in pain.
Yagura stepped forward, tilting the Iwagakure shinobi's face upright with a light touch. Smiling, he asked, "Was I being too arrogant?"
This was the same shinobi who had casually thrown a child aside like garbage moments ago.
So Yagura had made sure to hit him extra hard.
To the Iwagakure shinobi, Yagura's seemingly kind smile now resembled that of a grim reaper.
His hand hovered by the shinobi's face, fingers wrapped around the hilt of his water blade, its edge pressing coolly against the man's throat.
If Yagura wanted, he could end him in an instant.
Watching as the resentment in his opponent's eyes gradually gave way to fear, Yagura shrugged and decided to let him go.
At least he understood his situation now.
If he kept glaring like that, Yagura wouldn't mind teaching him another lesson.
"Next time you pick a fight, don't be such a scumbag."
With a light push, coral suddenly sprouted over the Iwagakure shinobi's body, immobilizing him as he collapsed to the ground.
Within just a few exchanges, both Iwagakure shinobi had been effortlessly defeated.
"No need to be so tense, my Sunagakure friends."
Stepping over the fallen shinobi, Yagura spread his hands in a gesture of peace, attempting to show goodwill toward the Sunagakure shinobi.
He was telling the truth.
"I only stepped in because I didn't like how they were treating kids. This has nothing to do with you."
But it didn't seem to have much of an effect.
Faced with the overwhelming strength Yagura had just displayed, the two Sunagakure shinobi instinctively took two steps back in unison.
Yagura sighed. Nothing he could do about that.
Since he'd already done what he came to do, there was no point in wasting more time on these two.
How boring. Time to head back.
These Iwagakure shinobi weren't even fit to be his warm-up.
I wonder what Yuriyo and the others are up to right now…
Turning away, Yagura retraced his steps.
Boom! Boom!
The retreating Sunagakure shinobi abruptly stopped, fingers tightening around the triggers of their crossbows. They fired without hesitation, aiming directly at Yagura's back!
The kunai-loaded bolts tore through the air like bullets, cutting through the silence with a sharp, whistling sound!
"Water Release: Water Palm Cannon!"
Naturally, Yagura hadn't completely let his guard down against the Sunagakure and Iwagakure shinobi.
What he hadn't expected was that they'd actually attack him.
Makes no sense. What are they thinking? Do they just enjoy getting beaten up?
He spun around, slamming his palm forward. A burst of water chakra erupted from his hand, expanding outward in a small but intensely concentrated explosion.
The technique had limited range, only covering the area around Yagura, but its power lay in its concentrated spread, much like a modern-day shotgun blast.
The incoming kunai shattered on impact, either breaking apart or being violently deflected. The wooden fences lining the street were caught in the blast, splintering into pieces!
Even the Iwagakure shinobi, still trapped under layers of coral, saw what happened and went wide-eyed in shock.
Holy shit. I almost died just now, didn't I?
He highly doubted his skull was tougher than a kunai.
Lowering his hand, Yagura let out a disappointed sigh.
His gaze lifted.
The two Sunagakure shinobi wore expressions of utter bewilderment, as if they couldn't comprehend why they had just attacked.
When their eyes met Yagura's, filled with killing intent, they grew even more panicked.
Something was off.
Yagura frowned slightly, about to piece things together when—
The ground behind him suddenly shifted.
Something erupted from below with violent force!
An intense surge of killing intent locked onto Yagura in an instant!
The killing intent surged forth like a predator that had been lurking in the darkness for an eternity, waiting for the perfect moment to strike—right when its prey was at its most relaxed.
The source of this bloodlust was a shinobi who had taken countless lives.
A sudden burst of movement erupted from beneath the ground. Whatever it was, it tore through the air with a sharper, more piercing sound than the kunai from before, accompanied by the clanking of intricate mechanisms. It shot straight for Yagura's back!
At the same time, a massive shadow descended from above!
An attack from behind… and from above?!
"Shit!"
The situation had spiraled out of control. Yagura no longer cared that they were in the middle of Konoha's residential district. His hands flew through a rapid sequence of seals, forming a defensive technique:
"Water Release: Water Prison—"
But the figure dropping from the sky was even faster!
BOOM!
A thunderous roar accompanied the loud, rough shout—followed by a surge of overwhelming force!
Akaiwa's foot came crashing down, stomping with precision onto the hidden mechanism just in front of Yagura!
Yagura immediately retreated several steps. It was only now, in this brief moment, that he got a clear look at the weapon beneath the towering nin's foot.
A segmented, metallic scorpion tail-like contraption.
At the tip of the tail, a few thick, viscous drops of purple liquid dripped ominously to the ground.
Yagura's violet eyes contracted sharply. This was—
—The Akatsuki's Red Sand Sasori?!
BOOM!!
The deadly tail, struck by immense force, was knocked off its attack path and driven deep into the ground. The surrounding earth cracked under the impact, forming a jagged crater.
And yet, despite this crushing force, the scorpion tail remained perfectly intact.
"Oi, oi, sneaking up on someone from behind? That's a bad habit, puppet master from Sunagakure!"
Akaiwa bellowed in the direction of the two Suna-nin standing behind them. He reached down, grabbing one end of the scorpion tail, while keeping his foot planted firmly on it.
The puppeteer was trying to retract the tail.
Like hell he'd let them pull out so easily!
The force from the tail's movement wasn't enough to shake him. Akaiwa tightened his grip and dug his heel in harder. His thick, muscular arm—roughly the size of a normal person's thigh—bulged with raw power.
The weapon, crafted from the hardest materials by Sunagakure's most skilled puppet designer, twisted slightly under his grip—but remained unbroken.
"Earth Release: Added-Weight Rock Technique!"
The weight of the Akaiwa's body suddenly multiplied several times over. The ground beneath his feet caved in under the sheer pressure, forming deep imprints.
CRACK!!
The infamous scorpion tail—made from the most durable materials—snapped in half under the overwhelming force!!
