Later that night, after James was done with dinner, he stood up and gave Patty a soft peck on the cheek, in appreciation for the unsurprisingly delicious meal.
"Good night, Patty. Good night, Lee," he greeted, as he left the dining area.
"Good night, honey," Patty greeted back.
"Good night, James," Leslie greeted back.
James nodded and made his way upstairs, to his room.
It had been a long, full day. An eventful, emotional, and surprisingly satisfying day, and now that it's night time, James was more than ready to wind down.
After coming back from his meeting with Alina earlier in the afternoon, he'd spent the rest of the day with Patty and Leslie. And they enjoyed a calm, sweet stretch of uninterrupted family time.
They watched a few movies, talked about silly things, laughed at Leslie's bad impressions, and even played a short card game — which Patty surprisingly won with with ease. It was peaceful and James had cherished every second of it.
