Chapter 42 - Part 41

I furrowed my brows and turned around, my tone flat. "Is there something you need?"

Ethan gritted his teeth, his eyes filled with rage and hostility.

"You divorced Amanda, why are you still bothering her?!"

I raised an eyebrow, confused. Why should I, the former spouse, be lectured by a mistress so arrogantly in front of me?

Has society completely lost its sense of balance?

"I don't have time to bother her," I said, uninterested in continuing this conversation, but Ethan wouldn't let up.

"If it weren't for you, why would she have gotten rid of our child?!"

"That was supposed to be the fruit of our love, and because of you, it doesn't even have a chance to be born!"

He yelled angrily, accusing me as though I were the one who destroyed their relationship.

Passersby also turned their judgmental eyes toward me.

I didn't want to engage, but since he was intent on making things difficult, I wasn't one to back down easily either.

"Ethan, when you were with Amanda, did you not know she was married?"

"Even if you didn't know back then, after these two years, you must have figured it out, right?"

"But not only did you not break up with her, you enjoyed the situation and even got her pregnant."

"What right do you have to question me, the ex-husband? What? Just because my ex-wife got pregnant with your child, now I'm the one in the wrong?"

This time, the crowd turned their disdain toward Ethan.

His face turned pale, and he panted as he desperately tried to argue.

"You're talking nonsense! Amanda and I are in true love! You, someone who's not loved, are the third party!"

Such outrageous statements didn't even need my rebuttal. The onlookers were already voicing their discontent.

"Today's youth have no shame at all, breaking up families and still acting righteous."

"Exactly, and calling it true love? Is destroying someone's marriage true love?"

"Such a disgrace to men, it's this kind of scum that messes up society's values."

Ethan's face drained of color, and he was too stunned to respond.

As for me, I didn't feel the need to add anything.

I had no interest in condemning Ethan from a moral standpoint.

It was Amanda who betrayed her vows.

A woman with money and looks like her could easily enchant someone like Ethan with just a wave of her hand.

So, in a certain sense, Ethan was also a victim here.

I hadn't intended to cause trouble for him; this situation had unfolded because he was the one seeking conflict.

Seeing more and more people gather, I prepared to leave, but Ethan wasn't done with me.

"It's all because of you! Otherwise, how would I have become the third party?!"

"I just showed up later than you, that's all!"
