Chapter 14 – The Remaining Clues

The night felt endless for Abe. Ever since discovering that Renji was his brother, his mind had been filled with confusion and rage. Murase was already dead by his hands, but the Class 2-B experiment was far from over.

David Havin, the mastermind behind it all, was still out there.

But something else was bothering him—who else was involved?

Abe stared at the envelope given to him by the former student council president. If this information had reached him, then someone else must have known the secrets of Class 2-B.

He had to find out.

---

A Silent Warning

The next morning, Abe returned to school. Renji chose to stay at home, planning their next move.

As Abe stepped into the classroom, something felt… different.

The gazes of the other students were sharper than usual. As if they were watching him. Judging him.

Why…?

He ignored the stares and made his way to his seat. But as he pulled open his desk drawer—

Tap.

A small note lay inside.

"Go to the rooftop. Alone."

Abe narrowed his eyes.

Another game?

He glanced around the classroom, but no one seemed to be paying direct attention to him. Or at least, they were pretending not to.

Abe crushed the note in his fist and quietly left the classroom.

A Meeting on the Rooftop

When Abe arrived at the rooftop, someone was already waiting for him.

A girl with short black hair and sharp, hawk-like eyes.

Mizuki Reina.

The student council vice president.

"Huh, you came faster than I expected," Reina said, crossing her arms.

"Tell me what you know," Abe replied coldly.

Reina smirked. "Straight to the point, huh? You haven't changed, Abe-kun."

Abe wasn't in the mood for small talk. "You called me here. So start talking."

Reina let out a sigh before leaning against the rooftop railing.

"I found something in the old student council room," she said, tossing a flash drive toward Abe.

Abe caught it without hesitation, his eyes scanning its surface.

"What's in this?" he asked.

"Reports," Reina said. "Written by someone who worked as an overseer of the Class 2-B experiment. It details the failed subjects, the ones who vanished, and the ones who were…" She paused. "Disposed of."

Abe tightened his grip on the flash drive.

Disposed of?

His mind immediately went to his mother. To Yoshida. To all the people who had disappeared without a trace.

His jaw clenched. "Who wrote this report?"

Reina hesitated before answering. "The former student council president."

Abe's eyes widened slightly. "The same one who gave me the envelope?"

Reina nodded. "He was investigating Class 2-B long before you. He left this behind before he… disappeared."

Abe exhaled sharply. So, even before him, someone had already been trying to uncover the truth.

"And what do you want from me?" Abe asked.

Reina looked at him, her expression unreadable. "I want to destroy this system, just like you."

Abe studied her carefully.

Could he trust her?

He didn't know.

But right now, he needed every piece of information he could get.

"Fine," Abe said, pocketing the flash drive. "I'll look into it."

Reina smiled faintly. "Be careful, Abe-kun. There are still people watching you."

Abe turned to leave, but before he could take a step, Reina spoke again.

"Oh, and one more thing…"

Abe glanced over his shoulder. "What?"

Reina's smirk faded.

"Don't trust anyone. Not even your own brother."

Abe froze for a moment before walking away.

His mind was already spinning.

Why would she say that?

What did she know about Renji?

And more importantly—

Was he really on the right path?

---

The Shadow in the Hallway

As Abe walked back toward his classroom, his grip on the flash drive tightened.

He needed to check the contents. Now.

But just as he turned the corner, he saw something that made him stop.

Someone was standing at the end of the hallway.

A tall figure in a dark suit. Watching him.

Abe's breath caught in his throat.

He had seen this person before.

One of Murase's men.

No. Not just Murase's.

This man worked for David Havin.

So they already know I'm digging deeper…

Abe forced himself to act normal and walked past him without making eye contact. But he could feel the man's gaze burning into his back.

He had to move fast.

Because now, he wasn't just uncovering the truth.

He was being hunted.
