Chapter six
When we woke up my dress had a giant red splatter, Miriam had obviously bled all over my dress because last night we were being idiots and didn't clean the cut. We had continued to walk before Miriam noticed Mom's dagger which I had slipped in between my hair tie and wrist so it wouldn't fall out on the monkey bars. "What's that?" Miriam asked, grabbing my wrist to see it "It's…my mom's dagger, I…snuck it in" I admitted. Miriam gasped "Oh that is so smart" She said appreciatively "Yeah well I didn't know what it was when I was sneaking it in so it's just pure luck" I admitted. "Oh" Miriam said. We walked for a while as Miriam went over different rules and skills she remembered from studying all the past games and looking at who lasted longest. I paused seeing a couple small plants growing in a crack in the floor, I knelt down as Miriam peered over my shoulder before kneeling down next to me, tilting her head in confusion. "What's up? Why'd you stop?" She asked, I thought for a second. One of the plants I had pointed out was a small cluster of dandelions, the other I wasn't quite sure about. It had triangle shaped leaves and the stem had a little bit of fluff, it could be bur chervil which would be good or poison hemlock which as the name suggests would poison us. "I did find a plant, and it could either be edible, though not tasty, or murder us" I told Miriam, turning back to look at her "Well that's not very wowie zowie if I do say so myself" Miriam crossed her arms "That is indeed not very wowie zowie" I agreed. "Do you think you'll be able to make sure or should we stick with the dandelions?" Miriam asked "I think we can take the chance," I picked all the plants I saw in the little crack. "We should find another torch, and an area to start a fire, dandelion greens taste better cooked" I mentioned. Miriam nodded as we continued to walk, she picked up a torch on the way and we came to an intersection. There were four hallways leading into a room with a large fountain, Miriam gasped excitedly "The fountain! I've seen this in some other games, we should be able to drink from this" She smiled. I sighed with relief "Well, now we've got both food and water" "We just need shelter" Me and Miriam said in unison. "Shouldn't we try and find Basil?" I asked, Miriam thought "That's smart but…I don't want to lose this place" She said. I thought before looking around, I had an idea. I found some string behind the fountain "Your cousin…" I paused, not sure if it was okay to talk about the subject, Miriam seemed okay. "He used this when he was in here so he didn't lose his base" I mentioned, I said tying a loop around part of the horn of the bull statue in the middle of the fountain. "Oh yeah!" Miriam smiled, I held onto the ball of string as we started to walk down one of the halls. "I have a really good feeling about this direction" I smiled. It was only a few minutes before we heard people talking. "Hello!" Miriam yelled, I rushed in the direction of the voices, almost dropping the string. I ran straight into Basil and a girl, we both fell to the floor "Addie!" Basil smiled at me as we both got up. I noticed he was with that prep school girl, Elizabeth. Her hair was a little messier and her eyes had small bags underneath them, had either of them slept recently? "We found the fountain and are setting up a base, you two coming?" Miriam asked the two "Yes please, I am so thirsty" Elizabeth said exasperated. Basil nodded "Sounds great" He smiled, we headed back, following the string which I rolled up into a neat ball. Elizabeth got up and kneeled on the rim of the fountain lapping up water like a dog, she was splashing a bit and clearly hadn't had anything to drink in a while. "Uh…you good girl? You're acting like you've never seen water before" I mentioned, Elizabeth turned back to me a mildly crazy look in her eyes, her hair was all frizzy and she had worry lines all over her face. Well great, we've been locked in here with a mini psychopath, that's just fantastic. Ha ha. Ignore my eye twitching. "I'm fine…I hadn't had anything to drink yesterday…or today, or anything to eat, so hungry" She whispered looking around the group then going back to lapping up the water. Miriam and I shared a look that translated to is she gonna eat us? And a small Can we go on Buzzfeed unsolved if they know who did it? From me, which made Miriam give me a disapproving look. What, can't a girl want to end up as a true crime case? "I uh I have some food if we can make a fire to cook it" I offered, Elizabeth turned to look me dead in the eyes, I could've sworn I heard her neck snap. Basil stepped in front of me "Let's stay calm here, Elizabeth, Miriam, you guys go head out and look for any supplies. If you find any food or people make sure to bring them back, don't eat anything, we need to share if we want to make it" He said sharply. I had a feeling Basil wasn't just talking about eating any food items they found…I looked at Basil nervously. He had the same clothes as Michel had, I watched Miriam and Elizabeth leave. Wait! Miriam's hand, we hadn't wrapped it up. "We need to wrap up Mir's hand, she cut it last night and almost died" I mentioned to Basil "Wait she almost died because she cut her hand?" He said questioningly. "Oh no she almost fell into a Pit Of Oblivion with a torch and a rock," I corrected, Basil sighed "Y'know what, I don't even want to ask. I have a feeling I'd just get more confused". Basil took off his tunic, at first I was going to scream and throw my shoe at him before realizing he was wearing shorts underneath. I mean, I did still kind of want to yell at him for not wearing a shirt but I think I just wanted to yell at someone. Basil has a face that's very easy to yell at, but doesn't everyone? "I think we can use this to start a fire" He told me "Okay…I am going to ignore the fact that you are no longer wearing a shirt…when the heck did you get abs you never work out wimp" I asked. Basil rolled his eyes, putting his tunic on the floor, "Pass me the plants, are you sure we even need to cook them?" Basil questioned. I nodded, passing him the greens I had picked off the dandelions. "Unless you want to eat these raw and all sour I would suggest so-" I was cut off by a shrill high pitched scream. The sort of scream you would hear from a girl in a horror movie, or in an area near where me, my friends, and Basil were filming another silly little horror movie. Basil looked up at me, I looked down at him. "You should go check that out" He suggested "Yeah yeah, I'll do it you coward" I rolled my eyes, slowly getting up and stretching out before starting to walk.
