Lunara lay stiffly on the bed, her back turned to Eryx, regretting every word she had said earlier. She could feel the weight of his presence beside her, the warmth of his body radiating just inches away.
This was fine. Completely fine.
Except it wasn't.
Her heartbeat was erratic, her breaths shallow. She dared him, but now she was the one drowning in her own nerves. Meanwhile, Eryx lay on his side, one arm tucked behind his head, completely at ease.
"Regretting your big words now?" His voice was amused, and she could practically hear the smirk in it.
Lunara's grip on the blanket tightened. "Shut up."
Eryx let out a low chuckle. "Thought so."
Silence settled between them, thick with unspoken tension. Lunara squeezed her eyes shut, determined to fall asleep. But how was she supposed to when the man she had spent two years trying to hate was right beside her, making it impossible to think straight?
