Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Rune Refining Technique

"It doesn't have much rarity, but also has its own difficulty, because to obtain a limit breaker, you need to go to a recognized rune producer to obtain one. But they also can't give a guarantee because its failure rate is 99 out of 100."

Sam suddenly sucked in a cold breath of air, which meant this limit breaker was a strategic item for poor families, and every country was mainly filled with poor and orphaned people since the casualty rate was much higher.

"Still want to go with the contract?"

"Don't worry. I'm not an indecisive person."

Sam chuckled and the contract hovered before his sight, and just as he commanded with a thought, "I agree," the prompt appeared before his sight.

"Ding! User sk7858 got in agreement with stall owner st9453."

"Happy cooperation!"

"Happy cooperation!"

He suddenly felt as if a load disappeared from his shoulder and after some conversation, he exited the VR.

"Thank God! Everything went well."

Whispering under his breath, he got up from the bed and strode toward the table and took out the conveyer from the drawer.

Opening its lid, a faint smile bloomed on his face because he found a small envelope lying inside.

"Everything is going on the right track!"

Carefully, he took and opened the envelope where an old musty bark with ancient small words appeared in his sight, along with a prompt appearing before his eyes.

"E-grade Rune Refining Technique detected!"

"Whether to store in your data?"

Maintaining his smile, his eyes stared at the prompt, but his fidgety body betrayed the excitement.

'I'm going to have a refining technique!'

Screaming in his heart, he nodded his head.

"Hmm."

He suddenly felt as if a powerful force shot out from the wristband and overflowed in his body, rapidly moving toward the bark in his hand.

Shshh!

As if coming in contact with the energy, the bark ignited and bit by bit burned down, and the fragments disappeared into the air, leaving him blankly staring at the unfolding scene.

'How magical!'

"OUCH!"

Spontaneously, he clutched his head tightly as if someone with a rigged hand was stuffing the information forcefully into his brain.

Veins popped out on his forehead, he squatted on the ground, darkness enveloping his sight.

"No, I can't..."

Clenching his teeth, he bit his lips to divert his attention while vigorously shaking his head.

"Can't fail!"

Drip!

The ground was painted in a red crimson hue, and another red crimson drop hung at the corner of his lips. Ignoring it, he continued to endure the suffering. The moment seemed like eternity to him.

This moment also let him realize that physical pain was much less than the current suffering he experiencing.

Exhaling, he puffed out a breath and his constricted eyelids slowly began to regain control, and the view before him started to become clear.

Thud!

His entire existence slumped onto his back and hollowed eyes stared at the ceiling. Raising his hand, he smiled to himself.

'I got the refining technique.'

...

'Ceiling...'

'Why is the ceiling looking at me?'

His pupils constricted and his hand raised before his sight, shielding him from the penetrating light of the bulb.

Suddenly his eyes snapped open and he sat up from the ground, overflowing light flowing through his eyes.

"I endured!"

"Refining technique! I got the refining technique!"

Calming himself, he inhaled and exhaled to calm his ragged breath, and with his eyes closed, he sat down, crossing his legs.

If anyone were to sightsee him, they would've been dumbfounded to witness his talent.

Slowly, the smaller particles present around him were sucked out, leaving only air, and after some passing moments, smaller and smaller particles continued to drift toward him, forming a boundary around him—an invisible wall where the smaller particles continued to be sucked in while new ones continued to replenish.

Puff!

His eyelids trembled and bad breath escaped his mouth.

Stretching his hand, he couldn't help but murmur to himself.

"Refining technique..."

"I was right to bet on the refining technique."

Standing up, he faced the mirror, displaying his vigorous face, which seemed moisturized and in contrast to the situation that unfolded just a few hours earlier.

Unconsciously, his eyes drifted to the clock, showing the time—1 p.m.

"Time is also up."

Brightening his face, he curled his hair upward with his fingers, unlocked the door, and locked it again after exiting the room.

Standing before Rahul's room, his knuckles tapped on the door.

Knock!

"Rahul."

Clank!

"Let's go."

"Hmm."

"Do you know that the teacher is organizing a tour?"

"Eh? When did all this happen?"

Sam stared blankly at Rahul.

Rahul facepalmed.

"Sorry. It's my mistake that you weren't joined in the group."

Sam nodded while continuing to move forward, and Rahul continued.

"I was told to inform you yesterday. Sorry!"

"Not a big deal. And which spot was selected?"

"Still at the discussion stage!"

"Hmm."

"Aren't you excited?"

"I am."

"But your face is showing another tale..."

Sam stammered and looked behind.

"Don't have a reason now."

"Ok. And have you thought about your crush?"

Sam choked and smiled bitterly to himself.

"I've to wrap up all the mess left by the previous."
