RIAN'S POV
"I need your help," Maxus said to me when he knelt till he was eye level with me.
My eyes widened in shock. That was not what I expected him to say. This was not what I thought he'd say to me.
I didn't know if I'd heard right, so I looked at him, waiting for him to confirm what he'd said.
"Are you listening to me? Letizia, the one who has been in charge of overseeing your duties, is in labour. However, I fear she won't survive," he told me in a sad tone.
Here, I thought he was going to kill me for trying to escape. However, his news was quite shocking. Letizia was in trouble?
"Do you know how to help someone in labour?" He asked me.
"No, I've never helped anyone give birth," I answered him truthfully. "But I am able to help and lend my expertise where I can."
He looked at me carefully as he considered my words.
"If you can help her, I'll be willing to overlook this incident and even reconsider you and your maid's current disposition," he told me
