Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Holy Grail War

It's 9:15 now.

"Um...so you mean...you can use magic too?" Shirou asked Tohsaka and she nodded "Yes, I am a magician"

She turned back into Shirou's house "Alright, let's take a look inside"

"Eh wait a minute..."

Tohsaka suddenly turned back and said "Emiya-kun, everyone is surprised by sudden events. But if you don't accept reality, you'll have to pay with your life. This is just one of many things that will happen, understand?" She said and turned back and went into the house.

Shirou was sweating as he thought, "Um... is she mad at me? No, maybe she's just nervous because she's in a life-or-death situation"

"I feel like Tohsaka is very different from the image I saw at school"

"Whoa, what's that" Tohsaka exclaimed when she saw the broken glass.

"Ah, that was when I was attacked by Lancer"

"I see, so Emiya-kun fought Lancer and then summoned both Servants, right?" While Shirou was confused, Tohsaka pointed at Anos who was standing next to Saber "I didn't summon him, and the battle was one-sided"

Tohsaka smiled, "You're being too modest" Tohsaka bent down and took a piece of glass.

"I see, I see, you look exactly like you look on the outside, Emiya-kun." She took a piece of glass and stabbed it into her finger.

Before Emiya could understand what was going on, Tohsaka cast "MINUTEN VOR SCHWEIBEN" and everything was fixed.

Shirou was surprised, "Tohsaka, you just..."

"Ah, it was just a small performance. It doesn't seem like enough to repay you for saving me."

"No, it's amazing. You really helped me a lot. I can't do such difficult magic."

"...I hope I'm wrong, but just to be sure. Are you an amateur, Emiya-kun?"

"My father is a magician and he taught me magic. Right now, I can only cast reinforcement magic." Tohsaka could only sigh at Shirou's words. "Reinforcement? You know that's a useless magic, right?"

A drop of sweat fell from Shirou's head. "Ah...maybe."

Tohsaka was sweating and her face showed disappointment. "How the hell did you summon two Servants like that..."

"Hm?"

The two of them felt it was inconvenient to talk outside, so they talked in the living room, sitting across from each other while Anos and Saber sat in the back.

"Let me say it straight, Emiya-kun, you've been chosen to be a master."

"There are strange symbols on your arm, right? They're called command seals. They're proof of being a Master."

"The command seal allows you to give an absolute command three times. As long as you have them, your Servant will obey you.

Shirou looked at his hand, where the command seal was imprinted. "Obey?"

"In other words, you've been trapped in a game." Anos said behind Shirou

Tohsaka continued. "The Holy Grail War."

"It's a life-and-death battle between seven magi called Masters."

"When the last Master defeats the other six, they will obtain the Holy Grail and have their wishes granted."

"What..." Shirou shouted in his mind.

"What are you talking about?" Shirou asked Tohsaka in a puzzled tone, but Tohsaka calmly replied. "I know how you feel, but what I said is the truth.

"Besides, you really do understand, right?"

"A Servant has tried to kill you twice. You have no way to escape anymore."

"Ah, rather, he didn't try to kill you, you were killed."

"You survived well, Emiya-kun."

"That's true." Shirou thought to himself.

"He did kill me. But I was saved by Anos."

"But... just because I refused to kill doesn't mean others won't come looking for me."

Shirou finished his thought when Tohsaka asked him. "So you agree?"

"I was also chosen to become a Master." Tohsaka said.

"So I made a contract with Archer."

"You also made a contract with Saber, and... oh, what class are you?" She asked Anos and he rested his chin in thought. "I'm Caster, after all, that's what my Master said."

"Wait, so Shirou wasn't the one who summoned you?"

Anos crawled closer and said. "A Master can only summon one Servant, and if you say that this Shirou boy is special and can summon two Servants, then it seems like you're wrong."

"You're being too rude to my Master, Demon King." Saber held her invisible sword to Anos's neck. "Calm down, Saber." Shirou stopped Saber and she just sighed and sat back down.

"Oh...so I misunderstood..."

"Anyway, you made a contract with Saber, right?"

"You can think of a Servant as a servant that the Holy Grail gave you to win the war. Although Saber doesn't look like a servant."

"Of course not." Tohsaka began to explain.

"She's called a Servant, but the Saber here is a hero from the past, given to an individual."

"She and the other Servants have surpassed the limits of mortals, becoming closer to spirits."

"A hero of the past?" Shirou asked in wonder.

"That's right. Whether past or present, heroes are materialized."

"And materialization is the job of the Holy Grail."

"And the role of the magus is to summon them."

"And without the Holy Grail, reincarnation or materialization is impossible for an ordinary magus."

"Understand? Only a Servant can defeat a Servant."

"It's like letting monsters fight monsters, only similar things can destroy each other."

"In theory, a Master should only support a Servant from behind."

"Um..." Shirou thought. "Using the word monster is a bit..."

"Do you understand everything?" Tohsaka asked Shirou.

"...At least in terms of words."

"If you want more information, you can ask the Supervisor of the Holy Grail War."

"That's all I can say."

"You have no choice but to fight."

"Your Servant is a powerful servant, so remember to use it well."

After saying what he knew, there was a small silence between the two.

But it ended after Tohsaka turned to ask Anos. "By the way, why did your Master order you to save Saber while fighting Lancer?"

Anos was silent for a moment before speaking. "He didn't order me, it was because I wanted to save them."

"Hmm, I find it quite rare for a Servant to do as he pleases."

"What I hate the most is when someone orders me around and traps me in their mold."

"Anyway..." Tohsaka stood up. "Let's get ready to go."

"Where are we going?"

"Like I said, there's someone who knows everything about the Holy Grail War."

"Emiya-kun, you want to know more, right?"

"Of course, but it's already this late. If it's too far..." Shirou said in a worried voice.

"Aren't you going? If that's what you want, then fine."

Tohsaka turned to Anos and Saber. "What about you two?"

"Wait, it has nothing to do with Saber. Don't force her like that."

She heard Shirou say that and immediately said in a sarcastic tone.

"So you've realized that you're a Master."

"You're afraid that I'll talk to Saber, aren't you?"

"N-No way!" He shouted as if what Tohsaka said was wrong.

"Tohsaka, if you're right, then Saber is a hero from ancient times, right?" Shirou also stood up.

"If that's the case, then she probably doesn't know right from wrong in the modern era, so..."

Saber heard Shirou say that and immediately said. "Shirou, that's not right."

"Servants are summoned from all eras of human history."

"Moreover, I'm used to this era."

"This isn't the first time I've been summoned to this era."

"Eh, no way? That's strange..." Tohsaka was surprised when Saber said that."

"Shirou, I agree with her."

"Your knowledge of war is still too poor. From the perspective of a Servant who has made a contract with you, I wish for you to become stronger."

"That means Saber isn't doing this for herself, but to protect herself." Shirou thought.

"I see. Then I'll go, right?"

"So where are we going?"

Saber also stood up and walked closer to Shirou

"Can we go back after we leave?"

"Yes, of course."

"That's the church on the other side of town. There's a fake priest there who's supervising the battle."

"Oh, and is your master coming too?" Tohsaka asked Anos.

"Um... I think I'll bring him there too."

"Bring him?" A question mark appeared above the heads of both young masters, Anos also noticed their confusion, he raised his hand and summoned his Master.

An owl immediately flew in and landed on his hand. "Let's go."

"Wait, your Master is… an owl?" Anos shook his head. "No, I killed him and turned him into an owl like this with my magic."

Silence filled the room as Shirou and Tohsaka stared at the owl that was perched on Anos's arm.

"…What do you mean?" Tohsaka blinked, trying to digest what she had just heard.

Anos shrugged as if it was no big deal. "It's simple. My previous master was a bother, and I didn't like being bothered. So I changed a little."

The owl tilted its head strangely, its bright eyes reflecting the living room lights. It let out a hoarse cry, but when Shirou listened closely, he realized it wasn't a normal owl cry.

"Give…me…back…my…body…"

"Shut up." Anos commanded the owl in his arm. It immediately showed fear. "Yes...Anos-sama."

Shirou immediately backed away, his face pale. "What the hell is that?"

Tohsaka frowned, her hands clutching the hem of her skirt as if trying to suppress the headache that was about to strike. "Wait a minute. You mean you killed your Master, but still maintained the contract? How is that possible?"

"Ah, I didn't kill him completely." Anos replied casually, as if recounting a boring breakfast. "I just changed his form and existence. A little magic changed the nature of his soul. Now he's still my Master, but in a cuter form."

Tohsaka took a deep breath. "Did you just say cute?"

The owl hooted miserably. "I...am...not...cute..."

Shirou stared at Anos, completely overwhelmed. "You don't see any problem with doing that?"

Anos tilted his head in thought. "...No."

Tohsaka held his head. "Alright, alright. I don't care anymore. Let's go."
