Cherreads

Chapter 28 - Chapter 25: Berserker

"I won't say it again. Let her go while I am still in control," a deep, more ancient tone overshadowed Theo's normal, small, and timid voice.

Dante pushed Thalia down harder, causing her to scream in pain. Theo's eyes were now bloodshot red. He felt the rage in his chest start to bubble up like a volcano about to erupt. He was no longer able to control his emotions as the feeling of anger and anguish washed over his body.

Theo's mind numbed to the pain as his vision blurred. The helplessness he felt was being replaced by rage. All he could think about was how much he wanted to kill the man who was daring enough to hurt his older sister right in front of him. Theo screamed as the horrifying sound of his bones breaking filled the air. Theo's body was transforming rapidly. His muscles were growing and expanding at a supernatural rate. His pants ripped under the strain of his growing muscles as his feet burst out of his tennis shoes, which grew in size. Dante was so intrigued by Theo's transformation that he didn't even think to attack.

In just a few minutes, Theo had grown to ten times the size of an ordinary man.

Theo was a skinny and frail-looking boy who was maybe 6 feet, weighing no more than 160 pounds, soaking wet. That same boy stood before Dante, towering at 9 feet tall and weighing 1 ton. Dante could hear the sound of Theo's muscles ripping through his dress shirt and dress pants. The aura around his body was now blood red and his skin was no longer its original golden brown hue but was now a dark gray.

Tyler was still dazed from the blow he took to the head earlier. His eyes were still adjusting from the mild concussion he had probably suffered.

He noticed that the air surrounding the dome was now tainted with a foul feeling of pure bloodlust. He blinked until his eyes finally began to adjust, and his vision became clear.

"This must be some kind of mistake. Is that Theo?" Tyler said rubbing his eyes. Tyler was so surprised after seeing Theo's new appearance that he almost forgot the immense pain he was in.

Theo had fully transformed, and the sheer weight of his body caused the ground beneath his feet to crumble. Enraged and not entirely sane, he let out a terrifying roar that shook the trees and frightened the birds and wildlife native to the dome. Dante released Thalia's arm and stood up.

"Holy crap! Alex, you didn't tell me he could transform," Dante shouted as Theo moved with a speed that seemed impossible for his enormous size. Before Dante could react, Theo's massive hand slammed into him.

Dante was sent flying, tumbling across the training field as he was struck. The Cloak of Nightingale activated, attempting to envelop him in a protective barrier. Luckily, it did, because if it hadn't engaged when it did, Dante would have likely suffered a few broken ribs from the full force of Theo's punch. His cloak is a special defensive relic, which required no commands from Dante to activate, which was fortunate, as he briefly lost consciousness from the impact.

When Dante finally collided with a tree, it jolted him awake, causing him to cough up blood. Confused and shocked by the sudden turn of events. He struggled to his feet and noticed that the new, larger, and angrier Theo did not intend to harm only him. Theo let out a loud roar, fully enraged. He beat his chest, looking around for his next opponent or victim. He struggled to his feet. He noticed an injured Thalia, who was barely conscious, and rushed toward her with the intent to stomp on her. Theo must've deemed her as his next target because he leaped into the air, clasping both his hands to create a hammer with his fists, intending to clobber Thalia to death.

"Theo, please calm down!" Thalia said weakly as she tried to sit up. The words barely escaped her mouth before he came down upon her with his fists.

Dante realized that he no longer intended to protect her; instead, he was planning to kill her. In a split second, he blinked teleporting himself next to her and scooped her up, swiftly teleporting them across the grass field. Theo struck the ground with such force that he shook the earth, creating a massive crater. Meanwhile, Tyler pushed himself to his feet, ignoring the waves of pain coursing through his body.

"Theo, what are you doing? You could have killed your sister. Snap out of it, man!" Tyler shouted across the field.

Theo turned back, looked at Tyler, and realized someone other than his sister was present. Letting out another roar, he sprinted toward Tyler, leaving a new foot-size crater with every step.

"Run! Kid; he is no longer in his right mind. He will kill you."

Tyler grabbed the Vijaya and pulled back the bowstring, his body glowing with a bright translucent blue light. His instincts screamed for him to run, but he steadied himself and held the bowstring at maximum tension, feeling the astral arrow hum with energy. As he prepared to launch a desperate attack against the charging Theo, Tyler's yellow aura shifted to pure gold. Theo was now within striking distance, showing no signs of slowing down; he was intent on bulldozing right through Tyler, ready to trample him.

Theo was only a few feet from trampling Tyler when Tyler released the arrow, which was now the size of a colossal ballista bolt. The collision sounded like a train crashing into a brick wall. Theo was flung backward, tumbling and rolling a few feet before he landed flat on his back.

Dante seized the opportunity to pick up Thalia and teleport over to Valerie, who rushed over after witnessing Theo's transformation.

"God damn it, Dante, you just had to overdo it! I told you these siblings are not your ordinary kids," Valerie exclaimed.

"Shut up. Here, take the girl. I already set her shoulder back into place," Dante responded, gently handing Thalia to Valerie.

"Yeah, we saw that. She took a nasty fall after you knocked her to the ground," Valerie replied.

Valerie set Thalia on the ground. "You know you could've told the boy that you weren't hurting her. I mean, considering you only put her dislocated shoulder back into place. We could've been saved all this trouble!"

Valerie focused intently, stretching out her hand as her lab coat, Panacea, began to glow a bright green. Thalia's pained expression gradually softened as Valerie's green aura enveloped her, healing her injuries.

"Theo," she murmured, drifting in and out of consciousness.
