Chapter 73 - THE NEWS

Ace and Lucien sat at the breakfast table, enjoying a quiet morning together. Ace was sipping his coffee, while Lucien was nibbling on a piece of toast.

As they ate, Lucien's eyes locked onto Ace's, and she took a deep breath. "Ace, I need to tell you something," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Ace's eyes narrowed, his expression curious. "What is it, Lucien?" he asked, setting his coffee cup down.

Lucien's hands trembled slightly as she reached for Ace's. "I'm pregnant," she said, her voice filled with emotion.

Ace's eyes widened, a look of shock and surprise crossing his face. He stared at Lucien, his mind racing with thoughts and emotions.

And then, in an instant, his expression changed. A wide smile spread across his face, and he let out a whoop of excitement.

"We're having a baby!" he exclaimed, pulling Lucien into a tight hug.

Lucien laughed, tears of joy streaming down her face. "We're having a baby," she repeated, her voice filled with happiness.

As they hugged, Ace's mind was racing with thoughts of the future. He was going to be a father! He couldn't wait to meet his child, to hold them in his arms and watch them grow.

As they hugged, Ace's phone buzzed on the table. He ignored it, not wanting to break the moment. But as the buzzing continued, he reluctantly pulled back from Lucien and glanced at the screen.

"It's a text from my assistant," he said, his brow furrowing slightly. "Apparently, there's a situation that needs my attention."

Lucien's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "What kind of situation?" she asked.

Ace's expression turned serious. "I'm not sure, but I need to go take care of it."

Lucien nodded understandingly. "Go," she said. "I'll be here when you get back."

Ace smiled, feeling a surge of gratitude towards Lucien. He leaned in and kissed her forehead. "I'll be back soon," he promised.

As he turned to leave, Lucien's voice stopped him. "Ace?"

He turned back to her, his eyes questioning. "Yes?"

Lucien's smile was radiant. "I'm glad I told you about the baby," she said.

Ace's heart swelled with emotion. "Me too," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "Me too."

Weeks passed, and Ace was sitting in his office when his phone buzzed with a message from Ken. He opened the message, and his eyes widened in surprise.

"What's wrong?" Lucien asked, noticing the look on his face.

Ace hesitated, unsure of how to break the news. "It's Fiona," he said finally. "She just came out on the news, claiming that she's pregnant with my child."

Lucien's eyes widened in shock, and she felt a surge of anger. "What?" she exclaimed. "That's impossible!"

Ace quickly pulled out his phone and showed Lucien a video recording. It was a clip of Fiona and an unknown man, making out in a dark alley.

Lucien's eyes scanned the video, and her expression changed from anger to amusement. She couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation.

"I'm sorry," Ace said, smiling. "I know this is a lot to take in. But I assure you, Lucien, I had nothing to do with Fiona. She's just trying to manipulate me, as usual."

Lucien's smile softened, and she reached out to touch Ace's face. "I trust you, Ace," she said. "I know my cousin Fiona will stop at nothing to get what she wants. But I'm not worried. I know you would never betray me."

Ace's eyes locked onto Lucien's, and he felt a surge of gratitude towards her. He knew that he was lucky to have her by his side, and he was determined to protect her from Fiona's manipulations.

Fiona sat in front of the TV, a smug smile spreading across her face as she watched the news report about her supposed pregnancy. She had planned this perfectly, and she knew that Ace would be furious when he found out.

Her phone buzzed on the table next to her, and she picked it up, answering the call from her accomplice. "How did it go?" she asked, her voice low and conspiratorial.

"It went perfectly," the voice on the other end replied. "The news stations are eating it up. You're all over the headlines."

Fiona cackled with glee. "Excellent," she said. "I knew this would work. Ace will be crawling on his hands and knees to try and fix this mess."

She hung up the phone and leaned back in her chair, a satisfied smile still plastered on her face. She was one step closer to getting what she wanted, and she wouldn't stop until she had it all.
