JANE
She leaned in and whispered in my ear,
"I know who sent you and why."
"Wh-what are you talking about?" I asked, trying to sound confident but I doubted if I succeeded or if she could see through my facade.
"Oh, child. Don't act innocent now." She circled around me slowly before stopping beside me and added, "Rosario sent you here, right?"
"You're right, but partially," I said, trying to be smart and she cocked an eyebrow sarcastically.
"How so?"
"His mansion was suffocating me. So I escaped. Technically, he did send me because if he hadn't been so controlling, I'd never have escaped. And Dominic finding me, that was pure coincidence." I looked into her eyes confidently and she stared back.
Her expressions were still the same, no change at all. And that scared me.
Suddenly, she let out a loud laugh, sounding almost maniac, making a chill run down my spine. Then, she stopped abruptly.
