Chapter 67 - Red Alert: Impossible Mission (2)

Already in the hangar, a worker indicated through the monitor that everything was ready on the ship according to the specifications sent and that the requested equipment was in the room.

"Excellent, thank you," Leila replied.

In the hangar, there was a large ship, like a dark green jet. In the middle part, there was a door with a staircase for everyone to board. Everyone got on the ship, one by one. Once inside, there were two rows of seats with plenty of space between them to stretch their legs, a table with drinks and food, a bathroom, and a small compartment like a room. Further ahead was the pilot's cabin.

As they entered, they all noticed something: this ship only had nine passenger seats.

"No, this can't be. If there are twelve of us, how are we all going to fit in? Something must be wrong. I didn't read the document properly," Leila questioned.

"Oh, Leila! You can't do anything right," Martha and Sheila, her best friends, said sarcastically.

Leila touched her forehead and bowed to apologize to her boss for not properly reviewing the ship's specifications, although the document actually specified nine seats, purposely requested by their leader.

"It's just how I ordered it, darling," the leader said to Leila with a chilling smile. "Well, everyone take a seat."

Mark, being chivalrous, waited for everyone to sit down. In the end, only Leila, Margaret, Rachel, and Mark were left standing.

"You, Mark, can sit on my lap," said the leader, since she was the tallest of them all. Additionally, Mark was Leila's size, which made him look like a tender child to his boss.

"It's not fair, I want him to sit with me!" could be heard throughout the cabin. "I can carry him."

Mark was embarrassed by the whole situation.

"Well, leader, I..." blushing, he didn't want to go, but in the end, he had to because it was an order from his boss.

It looked like a mom carrying her son when they buckled up. The others were just frustrated not to be able to share the seat with the boy. Leila, in her mind, thought: "Mark, I don't know if he does it to follow orders, and they fear the captain, and that's why he's embarrassed, or if he actually likes doing those things. To me, he's a little pervert," annoyed at how they treated Mark as if he were a king.

"Girls, no favoritism," Azulema said with a look that was very intimidating. Everyone obeyed their leader, except Leila, who was fuming with envy.

"Sit down," Rachel indicated to Leila, "because Margaret and I are going to the pilot's cabin."

The girl sat down because she had no other choice, while the other two went to the front of the plane.

Once ahead, Margaret and Rachel sat down.

"Okay, I'm going to take off," Margaret said through the microphone. "Make sure you're all buckled up," Rachel indicated.

The ship took off from its unknown location in the United States. A waterfall could be heard as the ship ascended, heading toward the television station in Italy.

"Activate the hyper thruster," Margaret instructed Rachel, and suddenly the ship shot off like a bolt of lightning. Everyone in the passenger cabin moved amusingly due to the ship's speed.

After a few minutes, they approached the Italian skies.

"Activate the camouflage," Margaret instructed, and Rachel activated it. The ship began to disappear in the air, and no one could notice it was there, not even military satellites.

They landed the ship outside the city, more precisely in the countryside, to avoid drawing attention once they disembarked. Once the ship landed, the leader stood up from her seat and moved Mark aside to then explain the mission:

"Ladies, since our unit handles government and diplomatic matters, and to prevent people from knowing about threats so that chaos doesn't reign, blah, blah, blah, we must use our psychic powers to save ourselves from anarchy. We are going to the television station and will use our powers to change the memories of everyone in the world connected to this news," the leader specified.

"And how are we going to do that?" Ada asked.

"Well, it's good you ask. For that, we are going to use special equipment that we requested from the D technology team. With it, we can boost our psychic power for a short period. It will tire us out, so you must be prepared to withstand it."

"But ma'am, isn't that equipment experimental?" Rosa asked.

"That's why I indicated that it might drain your energy and make you pass out for a few minutes, though it could actually be longer," Azulema kept that information to herself and Margaret because she knew if she told the others, they wouldn't use it. She had to take risks for the sake of humanity.

"Is that clear?" Azulema asked, and everyone responded affirmatively.

"Okay, let's go," and they all began to descend, not without first sending Leila, Martha, and Sheila, at Margaret's request, to retrieve the artifacts from the room.

As they were taking things out, Martha and Sheila dropped one of the pieces on Leila's foot, causing the young woman to scream in pain. The two of them said, "we're sorry, it was unintentional," but their faces showed no remorse, only satisfaction.

"What is wrong with you girls?" Leila asked them. "You're always doing things to bother me. Why are you against me?" she indicated, annoyed.

The two girls told her to relax, that it was just a small incident. Leila couldn't stand them and used her telekinesis to throw a couple of cans at them.

"Now you'll see, you spoiled brat," they said, angry.

Before anything could happen, Rosa arrived and asked:

"Is everything okay, ladies?"

They all had to say yes, that everything was fine.

"Are you sure?" Rosa asked Leila.

"Yes, don't worry," Leila replied.

"You'll see, brat. This won't stay like this," Martha and Sheila said telepathically while leaving with the things.

"Leila, what happened?" Rosa asked again.

"Those two, Rosa, they've been bothering me since the day I arrived. I can't stand them, they're very mean."

"I know," said Rosa. "I've always seen that they enjoy bothering you. It's probably because you're the one Azulema sends to do the errands, and you spend more time with her. It must be envy."

"Yeah, maybe, but if they knew that the leader didn't even pay attention to me," Leila replied. "Thanks, Rosa. I'm glad you came. Otherwise, I wouldn't know what to do. My psychic power isn't as strong as theirs."

"Don't worry, you know that Ada and I are always here for you. Besides, you can contact us. Do you have our link, right? If not, I'll add you," Rosa said.

"Well, I'm not good with links, but if you add me, sure," Leila said with a giggle.

The telepathic link they used was like a messaging system, similar to the green bubble app. Rosa linked her for anything, and both left the ship.

Outside, Margaret used her telepathy with a person driving a large truck. She instructed them to take them to the channel's address. The girls got on tightly, but they managed to fit. Mark, this time, was taken by Margaret, who told the boss:

"You had your turn, now it's mine, leader."

"That's not fair," said Azulema. "We played rock, paper, scissors to decide."

The boy felt uncomfortable with the girls' actions, although deep down, he was happy to be surrounded by beautiful women, which made Leila's thoughts seem right.

Upon arriving at the channel, they all got out of the car almost out of breath from being cramped for a few minutes, some with cramps. After a moment, Azulema ordered the three similar-looking girls (Teresa, Alicia, and Samanta) to use their powers on the guards at the entrance. There were three guards that they easily deceived, making them believe they should sleep, not without first opening the door without triggering the alarm.

They entered the studio, and Ada, on her tablet, began to search for who was in charge. A certain Ernesto Lion, sixty years old, with hair like when Moses parted the sea and robust, appeared.

"Like you, Sheila," Rosa interrupted.

That last comment made Leila chuckle, and Sheila glared at her.

"Another nail in the coffin," Martha said to Sheila in response to Rosa's joke.

"These three are always fighting like cats and dogs," Ada said.

"Tell us, what's so funny, Leila?" Rachel asked, turning to look at her.

"Nothing, just something I remembered, that's all," Leila replied.

"Well, laugh another time. We're on a mission now."

"Yes, ma'am. Sorry," Leila said.

The studio was immense; there were many places to cover.

"I know, girls, mental communication," Azulema said.

A group opened their minds, indicating whether they had accepted the invitation. Everyone accepted.

"Good, everyone split up. We'll cover more ground and save time. Look for Mr. Ernesto. Here's the visual image. You will go in groups, and whoever finds him first informs the others."

They showed a mental map of the place in their group, and Azulema began distributing the groups. There were five paths to follow because most of them were newsrooms that shared locations with movie sets and other areas.

"Rosa, you and Leila will go that way. You three, who always stick together, go the other way. Martha and Sheila go that way. Ada, you go with Rachel. Margaret and I will go with Mark."

"All of us," they protested, "but it's not fair, you always hog Mark."

"It's an order, and hurry up. We don't have much time. Set your watches: twenty minutes, no more."

Everyone did as instructed and separated to start searching for the large studio.

"Hey, Rosa."

"Yes, tell me," Rosa said.

"Why do we have to do it in this studio if we could do it from home with all the equipment we brought in those bags, which I still don't know what it is?"

"I imagine it has to be done from the same source where the broadcast came from, so people think it's real and not a setup or something like that," Rosa responded. "Besides, the leader said not to open the backpacks until we find the boss of this place."

While they were getting ready to search one of the areas of the large facility along the path assigned to them.
