Chapter 56 - The Great Galactic Wolf

The new being that emerged from Podbe's body let out a great howl to the sky. From its muzzle emerged a sort of golden ray that seemed to shoot out of the sky into outer space. The brightness it emitted was blinding, and small waves radiated from it, causing every device in the vicinity to shut down, including cameras and cell phones. Viewers at home were left wanting more, eager to continue watching the new creature that had entered the battlefield. Some thought that the dog was not of this planet; others believed that not even in their wildest dreams could they imagine such a majestic and mystical creature. Unfortunately, everyone had to keep wondering as the only thing visible on their screens was "transmission interrupted," with only static sounds.

"Quick, film over there!" Melisa instructed Creg. "It's something amazing and big, get a close-up."

The camera person started to look through his lens, but the image was distant. "What's wrong?" he wondered. He looked at the camera monitor and saw that it was off. He indicated that he couldn't see anything through the camera.

"It seems to have broken," said Creg.

"Then use your phone," replied Melisa.

Creg took his phone, but like the rest of the equipment, it wasn't working.

"I'll give you mine," she said, but she also saw that her phone was off. "Damn thing, right now?"

"Great, now we won't be able to cover this unprecedented story," she said, annoyed.

"It seems that the howl from that animal has shut down every device," replied Creg, and she only managed to throw her phone to the ground.

On the side where Marie and the others were, she was on the phone talking to the boss when she heard nothing from the other end. She saw that the phone was off. The boss, on the other hand, was saying:

"Hello, hello, hello, Marie."

One of those presents in the room indicated that it seemed the howl of the wolf had deactivated every power source in the vicinity.

"We're analyzing how large the blackout radius could be. " Check it immediately, indicated the boss while hanging up and placing his hands over his mouth in thought.

He thought for a while and called a person. A woman's voice was heard.

"I need your entire team and a quick response to solve this immense problem. Do whatever you need to do."

The person on the other end laughed and said:

"Ok."

The boss hung up.

"Why are you still working?" the children asked Tron.

He indicated that he had not been made with components from this world and acted as if he were laughing with the waves where his mouth was.

Dani and Gin indicated that, as a result of the great ray that came out with the howl, all electrical and electronic devices were deactivated. They mentioned this to the others. In Marie, the only thing she did was to put away the device that was useless at that moment. "Well, at least we've gained some time while team C makes their move," she thought, imagining that the boss was going to do that.

Once, the new Podbe, so to speak, did not hear what Aiden was saying. "Podbe, Podbe!" he began to call. "Is that you?" he said while the boy tried to establish the connection he had with his dog, but without any success. The giant wolf finished its howl, lowered its gaze and its eyes fixed on one thing: Urion. Upon seeing him, they began to ignite as if sparks were coming out of them. It growled and, with its muzzle, brought out from its front paws the galaxies it carried in them. They were like a kind of flying saucers, and it began to launch them towards the guardian. Suddenly, several of these began to be quickly thrown by the animal. Urion, seeing the objects approaching, started to move in a zigzag, but as the objects hit the ground, they exploded, causing those mini-explosions to push him and cause him harm.

"What?!" Urion said, incredulous about how those things affected him despite trying to escape them. "And why am I still afraid of that being?" he wondered while dodging them.

The animal remained angry and, from where it was, a beam of light was seen that made it disappear from its position and appear next to the guardian as if it had run quickly. It positioned itself face to face with Urion. It opened its large muzzle to swallow its enemy, and the latter changed his scythe hands to normal hands to protect himself from the large and sharp fangs of the being.

With great effort, he managed to free himself at the last minute, but he looked agitated and drenched in sweat.

"Damn animal, how dare you ridicule me!" he said to himself, since he wanted to connect only with the animal, but it seemed not—. I see you don't understand, or I can't contact you. You're possessed by some strange force —Urion indicated. You're going to pay for this.

As soon as he activated his eye rays, he launched a great burst of rays towards the wolf. A great explosion could be seen where the new dog was.

"Oh no, Podbe!" Aiden said while Urion just deactivated his attack.

The dust cloud that rose in that place began to dissipate, and the being could be seen as if nothing had happened. It closed its muzzle and stuck out its tongue as if licking its lips; apparently, it had eaten the ray.

"What a relief that you're okay, little one!" Aiden shouted, but without any response.

The others were astonished to see that the great attack that destroyed the building and beat the soldiers did nothing to the new animal being.

"Well done, Podbe!" said the three, Elena, Maria, and Billy, happily from their position. "Come on, Podbe, finish that guy!" they encouraged, while the others beside them thought the same.

The new wolf-dog burped, having ingested the ray. Urion was sweating coldly, so to speak, because he couldn't believe his most powerful attack had been neutralized so easily. "No, this can't be happening," he said to himself and lunged at the wolf Podbe with his two scythes.

Meanwhile, Zeus and the doctors Laos and Swang began to retreat and took cover behind a rock to protect themselves from any collateral damage. They exchanged looks of impotence and impatience about not being able to realize their dream. Simultaneously, the leaders of Zeus's team had finished searching for people and gathered at the designated place. They only managed to recover seventy people, some injured and others unable to walk. Unfortunately, they couldn't provide first aid since the robots were inactive due to what the new Podbe had done.

Zeus retreated to the rock and encountered two people: Melisa and Creg.

Creg looked at him curiously.

"I know you." You're the owner of the Radar Company. What were you doing over there? "Are those two experiments that got out of control?" the camera person began to ask the owner of Radar.

Melisa, furious, looked at him sideways.

"So, you're the one who's committed so many crimes and got away with all of them. Tell me, what happened to Rita Ribs?"

Zeus looked at them calmly, although inside he wanted to get rid of them.

"I don't know what you're talking about, young lady. Do you have any proof of it? You can't slander me like that. I'm a respectful person with an impeccable reputation. I don't get involved in shady business, and I don't know that name."

Although Melisa noticed that, when she mentioned that name, Zeus's face showed a kind of tic.

The seven leaders accompanying Zeus approached him, asking if everything was okay while looking at the young reporter.

Zeus replied:

"No, just press stuff". But since they couldn't keep working, they wanted to say nonsense. He realized that the technology wasn't working. Well, if you have anything to do, don't ask me silly questions. Besides, I have to look after my workers. If you know first aid or something, come with me; if not, stay here.

He turned to his men and asked how many had survived and to take him to the place.

His general address indicated:

"Seventy, but some are very badly injured."

"Seventy, huh?" Zeus touched his face with his hand in a thinking gesture. "That's not even a quarter of all my people," he said, somewhat annoyed. "Well," I want to talk to them. You, Aragon, "go and find some supplies to treat the wounded." And you, Lady, "create something to send a signal to one of our bases for rescue."

Creg lowered the camera, realizing there was no point in carrying it any longer, and seeing that Melisa, upset, wanted to follow the head of Radar, he stepped in front of her, placing his arm to stop her and whispered:

No, Melisa, leave it for now. We can't do anything. I know you feel the same frustration as I do in uncovering the truth, but that guy has many connections and great power that could end you, and no one will be able to find you. "Don't risk it, it's not worth it."

Then, he turned and said:

"There will be time for him to fall."

Bumping fists, Melisa had never seen Creg show such courage, which made her calm down a bit. Although Creg was terrified of all those people, he didn't show it, but he was sweating nervously. Meanwhile, Ian, the professor, and his assistant approached from behind.

"Everything okay?" they asked. "We came because the machines stopped working," indicated the professor.

"And the car too," added Ian, who took out a cigarette to relax, according to him.

"Yes, everything's fine, but I just missed a great opportunity to not be able to record things and get to the truth," Melisa responded, more relaxed.

"Yes, sir," indicated the two, who proceeded to leave while he and the remaining continued towards the injured.

Aragon thought to himself:

"Larot, I hope you're okay. I can still feel your aura, weak but still there. I'll come for you later, I promise."

The insect with half a lion's body reached the great wolf, launching its two scythes at him, but the gigantic dog defended himself by throwing his claws, which were larger than his when he used his golden claw slash attack. His claws broke Urion's two scythes, who screamed in pain. Purple blood gushed from where his arms were.

"Stupid grown dog," he can't beat me. "This can't happen," the guardian said to himself again.

Urion retreated and began to increase his power level. A malignant red aura started to run through his entire body. The giant Podbe went towards him and hit him with a tail swipe, sending his enemy flying through the skies until he crashed into a rock, shattering it with the impact. Podbe's team continued cheering, feeling excited to see the prowess of this new Podbe, but Aiden, where he was, did not feel well and thought something was wrong with Podbe, who was not responding to his calls.

The superstar launched his spinning discs in the shape of nebula galaxies again, and from his fur, he launched a bunch of stars like missiles towards Urion's location. Explosions were seen in the area where Urion fell. A small smoking mushroom could be seen once Podbe stopped launching his attacks.

"That should have defeated him," everyone said. "I don't think he could survive such an attack," both Podbe's companions and Zeus's team wondered, as the reporters had changed their faces from annoyance and bitterness about not being on the air with the news to one of joy, seeing that the big animal had destroyed the guardian, or so they thought.

Aiden began to approach the great dog.

"Podbe, are you in there? Please, answer me."

But the giant animal didn't understand the reasons or anything. He seemed gone and didn't recognize the boy who approached him from behind without making noise. The Great Wolf opened his muzzle and swallowed the boy.

Everyone present was stunned by what had happened.

"No, how can that be?" they said, even the bad guys.

Zeus turned before reaching the injured and turned red with fury over losing the boy after all this.

A great "No!" was heard in the air from Maria and Billy, while Elena knelt down sadly, saying:

"This will be our end. The same thing that happened to Aiden will happen to us."

While they watched, The Great Galactic Wolf fixed his eyes on all of them.
