Chapter 54 - Televised Terror (2)

The sheriff turned on the device and saw the boy on television.

Jeff, "It can't be." Darn boy, what are you doing on TV, and worse, in Italy? And "What is that thing holding you?" Jeff said to himself. "How can a boy be in another country?" "How is that possible?" he said to Tecro.

Back at the orphanage, Elsa asked the other sisters to bring water to revive the mother superior while she tried to wake her in the chair where she was seated.

"Mother Superior, are you all right?" Ana asked.

The mother came in and responded that she was, but it hurt her deeply to see Aiden in that condition.

"They can't kill that boy." "He's a bit distracted and wild, but a good boy," she said to herself while drinking the water, and the other sisters fanned her with sheets of paper.

"Look, Mother, the broadcast is still on," Elsa indicated, and everyone watched the screen.

The other children were attentive to the commotion because all the other sisters were running to the mother superior's office. Some children who were nearby heard what the news was about.

"They say Aiden is in the neighboring country, and a giant dragonfly wants to kill him," they commented.

The news spread across the campus, but it changed each time it was told. Some said a giant lion was going to kill him, others that a monster was going to eat him, and so on.

Meanwhile, the news continued, and at the scene, Melisa kept narrating when they saw the beast being hit, and something cut the tentacle holding the boy, rescuing him on the spot. The audience was happy, even at the orphanage and the sheriff's office.

The camera began to focus on who had hit the monster, revealing a small puppy with some bruises and one eye half-closed. It was a light brownish-orange color, more like beige, and its ears were a bit unusual: one stood up, and the other was down (the one that stands up is to the left), Melisa commented.

At the kennel, the two workers, Er and Timmy, along with the veterinarian, were left speechless seeing the puppy on TV that had once been in their facility, facing that monster.

"I knew it; that dog had something from the time I brought it," ER said.

"Definitely possessed," added the other worker.

The veterinarian didn't know what to do or say; he just kept jotting things down in his notebook.

- "That dog is strong," the audience was heard to say.

The broadcast continued, and viewers kept writing, amazed by the dog that had saved the situation. Although the animal looked in bad shape, they wondered how a dog could do that or if it was really a dog. They had many questions.

"Go over there quickly and move the camera," she instructed, pointing to the new people who had entered the battlefield. They seemed to be a group of people consisting of two elderly men, a woman, four young people, two scientists, and three children. Quickly, zoom in on that area.

"Oh!" "Look, they are filming, it seems," said Lidia, looking towards where Creg and Melisa were.

"Yes, it's true," said the children with her.

"Do you want to listen?" Tron asked.

"Okay," said the children.

Tron pressed some of his buttons and activated the TV function, and a hologram of the news came out. They began to listen to what Melisa was saying.

Eduard indicated that if Adia had heard them call her 'madam,' she would have been upset, but she was sleeping, one of them commented.

"This is bad," said Marie. "If this comes to light, we are going to have a big problem."

"Yes, I know," Gat agreed, echoed by Ezequiel. "The old man is going to be very upset."

"I thought you were the old man," Gat said.

"Oh, you mean the older one, the boss."

"Hey, respect your elders," Rino said.

When showing all these people, the mother superior's soul once again left her body, as she couldn't believe that Maria and Billy were in that place.

"Immediately, go find them," Elsa instructed some novices.

When they were young, the novices began their search throughout the premises for the other two children who also seemed to be missing. They asked teachers and orphans alike, as well as other staff. No one had noticed them; they hadn't been seen in several days. One of the children, who was very gossipy, as most called him, was Juan, and he was seven years old. He knew all the details and everything that happened in the orphanage because he had his own network of informants.

At first, he didn't want to say anything because the others always looked at him badly whenever he opened his mouth, especially the boys who helped Maria escape. But he was taken to Elsa, who made him spill everything and indicated that they had gone to look for their friend Aiden and had gotten into the car with those two guys who came to ask about the boy.

But how can all this happen? "Now there are three children lost and in grave danger in another country, and we can't do anything about it," said Ana, the mother. Elsa, we must reinforce the security measures at the orphanage because "it seems that anyone can escape right under our noses," she added.

What about the phrase they always say: Everyone has the opportunity for a new beginning? "No matter where you are heading, if you move forward with love and happiness, you will always find a new dawn," said the boy.

"That has nothing to do with this," Elsa said firmly. Go with the others, and you sisters, go and account for all the children. We can't lose anymore.

The sisters wanted to keep watching the news, but they were a bit scared of Elsa. Besides, she gave them a very threatening look. They had no choice but to do what she said. Everyone left the mother superior's office, except for Elsa and the mother, who kept watching the program.

People were still commenting on the live broadcast and congratulating The Dark Knight and the canine for saving the boy, but their happiness was fleeting as the monster hit Sir Larot with its lightning bolt, sending him flying. The dog began to defend himself by launching a few attacks, but to no effect. Then, everyone was frightened and saddened to see that the monstrous being had impaled the canine and knocked him to the ground. When Aiden woke up, it could be seen that he approached the canine and cried for it, while Urion went towards a helpless child to cut off its head.

Those watching the live broadcast couldn't believe it. They posted sad and helpless emojis, as well as some discomforting memes and GIF images expressing their powerlessness in the face of the scene they had just witnessed and now seeing what was coming next. Some animal lovers wrote that the authorities should go and end that thing and file an animal abuse lawsuit and many other things. Melisa's boss and the others in the studio were also worried and shocked by the news they were witnessing, just like everyone else in their homes. The ratings skyrocketed to levels never seen before.

In the background, Melisa could be heard narrating:

"We can't do anything in the face of such savagery, and I also feel helpless for not having been able to save the puppy and now just watching how they are going to kill the boy," as Urion lowered his weapon towards Aiden's neck.

We moved to a large dark room. In it, there were people also watching the scene on a big screen. In front of the screen was a person in an armchair, making sounds of annoyance while the other collaborators and scientists watched worriedly.

He turned towards those present in the room, revealing an older man wearing what appeared to be a long black glove covering his right arm from the shoulder to the fingertips. On the shoulder of the glove, there was an inscription that read "BOSS" within a shield with what looked like embedded swords. The man had white mustaches that shone in the dim light and a long, pointed beard reaching his chest that looked almost golden, matching his fair complexion. He was of average height and wore a dark blue tuxedo with a white shirt and a red tie. In one of his chest pockets, he carried a sort of red handkerchief. He took off the black glasses he was wearing, revealing his crystal-clear eyes.

"Quickly, pass me the phone; I need to contact Marie immediately," the man said angrily.
