Rus pulled a magic core from the wooden box and tossed it into Visdon's hands. Activating the Eye of Truth, he observed for a moment, then swapped it out for another, repeating the process several times.
Visdon sat stiffly in the chair, completely bewildered by what was happening. He didn't dare move a muscle, since Rus hadn't said a word.
In truth, Rus was testing for elemental affinity.
Even before experimenting on livestock, Rus had discovered that the energy within magic cores naturally resonated with him—regardless of the element.
This had also been confirmed during meditation. Not only could he absorb the elemental orbs of earth, water, fire, and wind without issue, but light and darkness were also receptive to him.
These six—earth, water, fire, wind, light, and darkness—formed the foundational elements of the world.
All other elements were derived from them.
Nature, for example, was a mix of earth and water.
Steel, from earth and fire.
