Chapter 149 - Chapter 148: The Start of Plant Magic

Yang Tao returned to his world and began working on creating a large number of mysterious puppets.

Excited, he thought to himself, "My puppet army!!"

This is what a true puppet master of the Age of Mysteries should be! In the game, those little half-meter-tall puppets were nothing but cute—they didn't deserve to be called puppets at all!

Not only did he create a huge number of them, but he also made all sorts of upgrades and security add-ons. The sheer amount of work didn't tire him in the slightest. He was too focused on his puppet army to feel anything but excitement.

Before he knew it, he had used up all his stored materials. Looking at the large number of puppets inside the chest, he started daydreaming, a sly grin appearing on his face.

But for now, there wasn't much chance to use them. Once he faced a strong enemy, he could just unleash his puppets and teach them a lesson!

Since his materials were all gone, Yang Tao had no choice but to pause his research on the Age of Mysteries and wait for more resources to come in from spontaneous generation and his farms.

In the meantime, he decided to try out Plant Magic—this so-called "magic" mod that was really just disguised technology!

Back home, he looked around at the already crowded open space and sighed. "Out of space again? I could've sworn I flattened a big enough area!"

He pulled out his long-unused diamond drill and got to work clearing more land.

Since Plant Magic didn't cause pollution, he decided to set it up right next to his house.

After half a day of work, he had cleared a large, flat area. Yang Tao wiped away imaginary sweat.

"For some reason, working like this always makes me think of Zabuza…"

He first crafted a Petal Apothecary out of stone—this was the starting point of Natural Magic, just like the crafting table in the base game.

Next, he placed down a mysterious puppet, installed a liquid transfer core, and used the puppet master's bell to bind it to the Petal Apothecary. Then, he set up a wireless water source and marked a water spot with the bell.

Watching the mysterious puppet spring into action gave him a deep sense of satisfaction.

"From now on, I'll use puppets to handle simple automation. That way, I'll really feel like a boss! And I won't even have to pay them!"

With the Petal Apothecary now filled with water, he started crafting the first key item in Plant Magic—White Daisies.

White Daisies could transform regular stone and wood into Living Rock and Living Wood.

He tossed four white petals from the mysterious flowers into the water. As the petals floated up and down, the recipe appeared—just one wheat seed was needed to complete the process.

He took out a seed and threw it in. With a soft *pop*, a White Daisy appeared in the Petal Apothecary.

Following the same method, he made several more.

White Daisies weren't very fast at converting materials, so making a few at once would save a lot of time later.

He planted the daisies and surrounded them with logs, watching as tiny white sparkles drifted from the flowers into the nearby stone.

One by one, he planted the rest of the daisies, placing either logs or stone around them.

After waiting a bit, the first batch of logs suddenly transformed with a *pop*—they had turned into Living Wood!

Two pieces of Living Wood could be crafted into a Livingwood Twig, an essential material for making the Forest Wand.

The Forest Wand could bind certain Plant Magic structures and activate formations—similar to the wands from the Age of Mysteries, but without any attack power.

Soon, all the blocks around the daisies had finished converting. He dug them up and immediately placed fresh logs and stone in their place.

Now that he had materials, it was time to craft something new.

The Mana Pool, as the name suggested, was used to store mana.

He opened the handbook that came with Plant Magic and checked the next items he needed to craft. The more he read, the more he realized something.

"No wonder people online were saying this isn't a magic mod at all. The 'mana-generating flowers' are just different types of power generators, and the Mana Pool is basically a battery!"

Yang Tao scoffed. "Might as well just call it 'Plant Tech' instead!"

Next, he began crafting a Mana Spreader. It only required six Living Wood, one gold ingot, and a petal.

"At least I don't have to run around collecting mana essence anymore!"
