The Tree Demon Matriarch looked at Yang Tao in fear. "If you need anything, just say the word."
Yang Tao smiled slightly. "Have you ever heard of sustainable development?"
...
After saying goodbye to everyone, they each returned to their own worlds. Ning Caichen and Xiao Qian also went back to the city.
Meanwhile, Yan Chixia stayed at Lanruo Temple to keep an eye on the Tree Demon Matriarch.
Back at home, Yang Tao thought about what he had discussed with the Tree Demon Matriarch and couldn't help but laugh.
He packed his things and prepared to explore the Twilight Forest. Stepping into the portal, he once again set foot on the land of the Twilight Forest.
Looking up at the starry sky, Yang Tao sighed. "So beautiful! No matter how many times I see it, it still amazes me."
In real life, you can hardly see the stars in the city anymore. It's not because of pollution, but because the city lights are too bright, drowning out the starlight.
After admiring the view for a while, Yang Tao continued his adventure.
This time, his goal was to find the first boss in the Twilight Forest—the Naga!
The Naga in the Twilight Forest didn't look like the beautiful snake-woman Vashj from World of Warcraft. Instead, it was just a giant green snake.
Yang Tao quickly reached the area where the Naga spawned. Looking down at the massive green serpent, he smirked.
"The first boss looks so basic! But if I just imagine it's a regular snake… Hey, it really does look like one!"
The Naga was made up of large green blocks, moving around happily below. Strangely, the blocks weren't actually connected.
Its appearance and attack style were just like the classic snake game. The only way to hurt it was by hitting its head—attacks on its body had no effect, as if its body was an illusion. Yet, if anyone touched it, they would still take damage.
But with Yang Tao's quantum armor, that little bit of damage meant nothing to him.
He pulled out his weapon. "A true pro should fight up close!"
"Too bad I'm not one!" He laughed and took out a bow crafted from the Tinkers' Construct mod, firing arrow after arrow at the Naga.
With each hit, the Naga's health dropped, and its body became shorter. But at the same time, it moved faster and faster.
Not that it mattered—without the ability to fly or use ranged attacks, the Naga was completely helpless against Yang Tao, who hovered in the air.
"Heh! Not so tough now, huh?" Yang Tao grinned as he rained down arrows.
Finally, with one last shot, the Naga's health hit zero. It exploded and disappeared in a burst of light.
For a brief moment, Yang Tao thought he heard a notification—he had earned a new achievement: [Despicable Outsider].
Shaking his head, he dismissed the thought.
"I beat the boss fair and square. Nothing despicable about it."
He flew down and picked up the Naga's loot. But to him, the Naga scales were useless now.
If he had gotten them earlier, they could've been used to craft some gear or tools.
Among the loot, there was one special item—a miniature Naga head.
"Looks like this is the only worthwhile reward. I'll take it home as a souvenir!" Yang Tao stashed the head away. After all, this was the first Twilight boss he had defeated—definitely worth keeping as a memento.
Flying high into the sky, Yang Tao headed straight toward the hiding place of the next Twilight boss—the Lich Tower.
Last time, he found the Lich Tower but forgot to mark a teleport point, so he had to fly there manually.
When he arrived, the magical barrier was no longer there. Taking out his tools, he dug an entrance into the castle.
Instead of heading straight to the top, he planned to clear each floor one by one—after all, there were a lot of treasure chests inside.
As soon as he stepped in, a floating book flew straight toward him.
This was a special monster that only existed in the Lich Tower.
"Well, that's a neat little thing!" Yang Tao smirked and took it down with a single arrow.
Like a starving man in a feast, he eagerly looted everything in sight.
Even though he didn't really need these things, who would ever complain about having more supplies? His main goal was to loot a large number of books and paintings from the castle.
Bit by bit, he searched while making his way up. Before long, he reached the top floor!
The Lich King was standing there, looking at him, almost as if greeting him.
At this point, attacking the Lich King was useless. Four shields were rotating around him, making him completely immune to damage until they were broken.
Suddenly, the Lich King teleported to a distance and fired an Ender Pearl toward Yang Tao.
Yang Tao pulled out his weapon and casually knocked the slow-moving pearl back.
The pearl hit the Lich King, instantly breaking one of his shields.
The only way to break the Lich King's shields was by reflecting the Ender Pearls he fired.
With patience, Yang Tao slowly destroyed all of the shields.
The boss entered its second phase, immediately summoning two green zombies that rushed toward Yang Tao.
Yang Tao completely ignored the summoned zombies and charged straight at the Lich King.
"Without your shields, why should I be afraid of you?"
With no defenses left, the Lich King was like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered.
Before long, his last bit of health was gone.
Yang Tao picked up the Lich King's loot—the Crown of Dominion and Frostmourne (a lifesteal staff)—and left, satisfied.
