Lilian moved at lightning speed. In almost an instant, she appeared in front of Li Cheng and lifted her leg, delivering a kick to his abdomen.
At that moment, Li Cheng flew like a kite with a broken string, crashing heavily against the moss-covered stone wall.
"Pfft—" He spat out a mouthful of blood, clutching his stomach and struggling to lift his head.
This sudden attack had caught him completely off guard.
He recognized this girl—she was said to be Lin Fan's girlfriend. The forums were full of posts claiming she was the most beautiful girl in the world.

"If you harm me, who will study the survival laws of this world? I am the savior of this world! If you harm me, the entire world will condemn you!" Li Cheng roared furiously.
He seemed very confident, as if his position as the research Director truly made him the savior of the world.
Lilian sneered coldly.
"The entire world?"
"In my eyes, the entire world is no match for Lin Fan."
Her gaze fell on Li Cheng, full of mockery.
"And as for your so-called survival research, it's not even worth one ten-thousandth of Lin Fan's accomplishments!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Lilian stomped hard on Li Cheng's stomach, causing him to scream in pain.
He glared at Lilian in rage. Her words had completely infuriated him.

At this moment, Li Cheng was in so much pain that he could no longer focus on what Lilian was saying. For years, he had been the respected Director of the Federation Research Division, and never before had he suffered such humiliation.
The first time had been because of Lin Fan; the second was now because of Lilian.

Ever since arriving in this world, most of their survival knowledge had come from Lin Fan, not the research division.
So, they sneered at Li Cheng's self-aggrandizing claim.
"Other than your baseless sense of superiority as a government official, what else do you have to offer?"
"If the research division had actually done its job, there wouldn't be so many people siding with Lin Fan right now."
The crowd looked at Li Cheng with scorn.
While they were grateful for the recent information the research division had provided about trading tools with wandering traders, those contributions paled in comparison to what Lin Fan had done for them.
Everyone present in the first level of the Nine-Story Monster Tower, fighting monsters, was smart enough to see the truth.
Lin Fan had accomplished far more than the research division ever had. Even though most of Lin Fan's actions were self-serving, he had undeniably helped them in the process.
Without Lin Fan, their lives might have been even harsher.
So, morally and practically, they couldn't tolerate Li Cheng's attempt to kill Lin Fan.
Meanwhile, Lin Fan stood back up, pulling the arrow out of his back. Thanks to his iron armor, Li Cheng's fully drawn bow had only cost him three health bars.
He could hear the argument behind him, but he didn't have the luxury to intervene. Due to his injury, the Nine Nether buff on him intensified, driving the Serpent Lady into a frenzied state!
