Chapter 50 - CH 50: Dragon Meat?!

Ragnar laid on the ground in silence, his eyes glued to the chat, reading their conversation. 'After Astrid finishes killing the Red Death, she'll complete her last mission, enough for the upgrade,' he mused, a thoughtful frown creasing his brow.

He began considering completing his missions before returning back to Ta Lo to continue his training, but something on the screen suddenly caught his eye.

'Dragon meat? Wait, Dragon meat?!' Ragnar pondered, a shocking idea sparking in his mind, making him sit up straight. 'Could I get stronger after eating it, too?!' He thought, if his powers were truly connected to evolution, there was a chance he could level up just by eating, like in anime.

Ragnar quickly checked the Chat Group, hoping to test his theory. If it worked, he wouldn't have to do anything but eat to get stronger!

Ragnar began to salivate at the thought of getting stronger by asking other members in the chat group to send him different kinds of meat in their worlds once in a while. 'Isn't that a dream power!' He didn't even have to get hurt or suffer, just put food in his mouth.

[Golden Dragon]: @Viking Champion, give me a bit of its meat too, after you kill the Red Death.

[Viking Champion]: Why do you want to eat it as well?

[Viking Champion]: Even for you, that'sa bit disgusting right since you're a dragon.

Astrid was actually just teasing Ragnar. She thought he wouldn't stoop that low, but she was dead wrong.

Nothing can stop a greedy dragon from filling his stomach.

[Golden Dragon]: Yeah, I'm going to try if I can get stronger by eating dragons.

[Viking Champion]: Okay but I need to deal with the Red Death first.

Astrid sighed, not knowing what to say. She couldn't believe Ragnar would become a cannibal, eating his own species to get stronger. She shook her head, looking at the volcano in front of her as Skadi landed on the shore.

Skadi inhaled deeply, her nostrils flaring as she caught a scent that went beyond the acrid tang of sulfur. she could feel it, a dragon, a dragon that challenged her very status as an Alpha, causing her to snarl with a low, rumbling growl.

"We're here!" Astrid shouted at the top of her lungs, holding a spike on Skadi's head and taking the bow behind her back.

It was created from a dead dragon's tendon. At first, it was unusable by Vikings since the tendon was tough and hard to pull, even for an adult Viking. But as an Asgardian, Astrid could manage it easily.

"Don't be rude, Skadi. You should knock since we're the guests here." Astrid grinned excitedly, taking three arrows and putting them on the string simultaneously.

Skadi growled in agreement, raising her upper body and knocking on the side of the mountain with her front claws, creating a hollow cave filled with dragons.

"RAWWWRRRR!" Skadi roared at the cave, announcing her presence, issuing a challenge to the Alpha of Dragon Island.

Different kinds of dragons flew out of the cave as if they were in a hurry. They were the dragons who hadn't attacked Berk, but other villages.

A huge fire burst out of the cave after the dragons left.

Skadi, seeing this, breathed out ice towards the cave, countering the fire.

The collision of Ice and Fire created a huge mist that covered the shore.

"I say we should have followed the kids' example and ridden a damn dragon. We'll be squashed by these huge dragons, Stoick!" Gobber complained, holding his hammer and looking around, but the mist obscured their vision.

"We don't need any dragon's help!" Stoick said, still not fully accepting the existence of dragons in Berk. He was even wary of Skadi.

Astrid, perched on Skadi's head, narrowed her eyes and pointed her bow forward. She could feel something massive coming towards them.

"RAWWRR!" The Red Death burst through the mist, charging at Skadi and aiming to bite her on the neck.

Skadi roared in response as the Red Death appeared, colliding with her head. Their collision sent shock waves through the air, clearing the mist, shocking every Viking on the ground.

For the first time in their lives, the Vikings witnessed a clash of titans, two colossal dragons locked in a battle of raw power. Their jaws clenched around their weapons, unease gripping their hearts as they watched the spectacle unfold with awe.

The Vikings knew, deep down, that this fight, this epic clash of dragons, would forever be etched in their village's history, a story that would be passed down through generations.

Astrid, holding a spike on Skadi's head, saw that the Red Death was bigger than Skadi. She frowned, but didn't panic. Taking a deep breath, she ran and leaped to the side, firing three arrows simultaneously, aiming for the Red Death's eyes.

"RAWR!" The Red Death roared in anger as her eyes bled, but their attack wasn't over yet.

The sound of a Night Fury spread through the sky as an indigo blast hit the Red Death.

Astrid, who was falling through the air, stretched out her hand as the Night Fury flew past. Hiccup caught her hand, pulling her up onto Toothless' back.

"That works! Nice job, buddy!" Hiccup said excitedly, looking at the Red Death, disoriented from the attack, giving Skadi a chance to stab her with her horns.

"Fly back!" Astrid shouted, holding onto Hiccup's shoulder and crouching on Toothless' back. "I need to blind her eyes on the other side."

"Do we need to? I mean, she probably can't fi–" Hiccup didn't finish his words when he looked back and saw the Red Death push Skadi away before breathing out dragon fire, burning Skadi.

But thankfully other dragons appeared, helping Skadi take away the Red Death's attention.

"Now!" Astrid shouted, she knew the other dragons couldn't help much, even if her friends wanted to help them with all their strength, at the same time she didn't want Skadi to suffer. Now seeing Skadi being burned, anger rose in her heart.

"Let's go, bud!" Hiccup whispered, holding Toothless' reins tightly.

Toothless's eyes dilated, flying into the sky before spinning and diving down, opening his wings and flying straight at the Red Death, opening his mouth and shooting out a plasma blast.

BOOM!

"RAWWRR!" The Red Death shook her head, the plasma blast interrupting her fire breath. She roared towards the Night Fury but then saw something falling from his back.

Astrid fell from the air, not a single ounce of fear in her eyes. She aimed three arrows at the Red Death's eyes, letting go of the string.

SWISH!

The arrows flew with fast speed, striking the Red Death's eyes with pinpoint accuracy, completely blinding her.

The Red Death opened her maw, a roar building in her throat as she prepared to unleash a fiery blast at Astrid. But a blast of ice, sharp and cold, hit her, interrupting her attack and blasting her to the side of the volcano.

Skadi, seizing the moment, charged forward, her horns piercing the Red Death's flank.

Astrid, still falling, grabbed the rope attached to her waist and flung it around one of Skadi's spikes. With a powerful swing, she let go of the rope, rolling on the ground to absorb the impact.

When she pushed herself up from the ground, Astrid saw Skadi pulling her bloody horns out of the Red Death. Before Skadi looked at her with worried eyes.

Astrid chuckled softly, sitting on the ground and raising a thumbs-up, mouthing, "Go."

Skadi's eyes filled with relief, seeing Astrid was okay. She lifted her head up to the sky, looking at the dragons who were flying aimlessly, too afraid to land.

RAAWWRR!

Skadi roared, a sound so powerful it shook the water close to the shore.

Astrid couldn't help but show a happy smile as the dragons flew down, lowering their heads in submission to Skadi. Even the Night Fury landed on the ground, offering his respect.

Astrid knew it was done, her mission was complete. She whispered, "From now on, there's only one Alpha here."

•-----•-----•-----•-----•

Ragnar sat on the ground, waiting for Astrid to finish her fight so he could finally test his theory. Suddenly, he felt someone's gaze on him, a gaze that was more than just curious, it was cold, calculating, intense and brimmed with something he didn't quite understand.

Ragnar turned his head and saw Ying Li, her face now clean, staring at him with an icy expression.

Ragnar pretended not to notice, slowly turning his head away. 'She wasn't over after what happened, huh?' He thought, scratching his cheek awkwardly.

"Son, you better say sorry," Elliot said, walking towards Ragnar with Sicilia holding back a smile. "Otherwise, that girl is going to beat your ass so hard," he chuckled.

"Stop laughing," Sicilia scolded her husband softly, before pulling Ragnar up from the ground. She hit Ragnar's clothes to remove the dirt while giving him advice, "But your father is right, you need to go and say sorry, since she's technically the one who's going to teach you."

"I know, I know," Ragnar whispered, walking towards Ying Li and Ying Nan. He stopped in front of them, bowed his head, and said sincerely, "抱歉, 我只是真的想赢/Bàoqiàn, wǒ zhǐshì zhēn de xiǎng yíng (Sorry, I just really want to win)."

"Why do I feel you're not really sorry?" Ying Nan asked skeptically. She crossed her arms, her gaze fixed on Ragnar, her eyes narrowed with a knowing glint.

"What?" Ragnar looked at Ying Nan incredulously. But deep inside, he was amazed by her instincts. He wasn't serious, he just wanted his training to get easier, not harder.

Although he was ready to suffer, it didn't mean he would give up on finding an easier way out.

Ying Li's eyes, on the other hand, softened, but she still put on a serious expression. "You know winning is not all there is to it in fighting and sparring," she said, standing up and passing Ragnar, walking towards the table.

"Or is it because I'm a girl, that's why you can't lose?" Ying Li asked softly, taking two wooden spears from the table.

Ragnar felt choices flashing before his eyes as he heard her question. 'This is definitely a trick question.' he shouted in his mind, if he messed up, he had a gut feeling he would suffer if he answered incorrectly.

So Ragnar could only think of the best answer in his mind. "No, I don't have any problem with you being a girl. Even my mom can beat my father."

Ying Li paused, blinking her eyes before chuckling and throwing one of the wooden spears to Ragnar. "Since you said you're serious, how about studying Mandarin yourself?"

Ragnar caught the wooden spear and breathed a sigh of relief. His answer worked. "I already know Mandarin," he said confidently, walking to the middle of the training ground.

"Really?" Ying Li asked sarcastically. She knew there was something wrong with the way he spoke their language, even if he was fluent. His tone was quite strange. "You can't?"

"I can," Ragnar said with a sigh, a flicker of resignation in his eyes. He knew it was inevitable. Sooner or later, he'd have to study it with the kids, especially since they were planning to stay here in the future.

"Good," Ying Li said with a soft smile, spinning the wooden spear as she smirked. "After you learn Mandarin, maybe I'll go easy on you." She raised her fingers towards Ragnar, signaling for him to attack.

"Wait!"

Ragnar, who was in his fighting stance and was about to attack, turned his head. He saw Jiayi walking towards him, making him smile bitterly.

Ragnar knew what was coming next. Raising his head, staring blankly at the sky, he whispered, "Not again."
