Chapter 108 - Chapter 106

Aramaki had been through a tough life and knew that nothing is perfect.

Yes, he could wish that his wife hadn't been forced to sacrifice her spirit to save their son. He could wish that his son was less active and more inclined towards a peaceful life at sea.

But these hardships were acceptable because as long as he remained strong, his family would never be forgotten by the World Government.

And they hadn't been forgotten. Using every leverage he could muster, Aramaki ensured that the world's greatest genius personally visited and took care of his family.

His journey to the South Blue Sea was difficult, and the Doctor arrived there before him. Only then did he learn in simple terms what had happened.

His wife had performed a miracle, and his son was in better-than-perfect health.

This world is full of examples of mothers performing miracles for their children, but never before had a child benefited so greatly.

This became evident the moment Dr. Vegapunk saw his son, immediately declaring that he had the Will of D.

This mystical lineage, almost forgotten in history, had many descendants. Now they are distinguished not so much by blood relation as by their extraordinary spirit.

The Doctor was one of the few people in this world who could declare such things and be taken seriously.

William was the name of Aramaki's own father, and he always planned to name his first son in his honor. However, after the Doctor's declaration, Aramaki's William Ox became William D. Ox.

Initially, this caused concern: few who bore the name D. led simple lives; but over time, as his wife slowly recovered, Aramaki, working diligently but joyfully, put it in the background.

Until one night, while sleeping next to his wife, Aramaki was awakened by knocks at the door.

Such a thing had never happened before.

Aramaki, possibly the greatest swordsman in the Marine Corps, always had a strict schedule regarding the time he spent with his family.

He wasn't a harsh man, but could become ruthless if this rule was broken.

As he approached the door, he sensed that there was someone small behind it, and when he opened it, there stood little Riccio Occhiali, who looked completely terrified while staring at the big man.

The sight of the child somewhat calmed Aramaki, but not for long.

When he listened to the confused tale of the curly-haired boy, his blood pressure began to rise.

His perfect son… had lied to him…?

From the boy's disjointed story, Aramaki quickly understood the essence of what had happened.

Aramaki was upset, but his anger soon flared when the boy mentioned pirates.

They were being closely watched by Angie, the Amazon, who felt both concern for her godson and hatred for anything that might threaten him.

Barely three minutes had passed since the boy came to their home when the entire base lit up like a Christmas tree and buzzed like a beehive.

Grabbing his sword, Aramaki of course rushed forward to the sawmill.

He slipped through a window on the roof and crept through a winding tunnel, keeping out of sight.

It took the big man only a minute to find the smuggling port and the three children.

To his surprise, he also noticed a little girl with a gun hiding on a rock.

At that point, Aramaki paused. He would have liked to kill those pirates ten times over, but he decided to observe the children's actions.

They tried to escape, all three fought bravely, but it made him feel uneasy.

They were cornered, but they tried to flee again.

There was nowhere else to run—his son was bleeding from a head wound, but Aramaki knew he would survive. So he continued to observe.

One of the pirates fighting the children was a Fishman.

It had taken all of humanity's history to tame this species, and now that the danger had largely passed, people had forgotten just how dangerous they were.

Aramaki held no dislike for the Fishmen, but he didn't appreciate how the "wild Fishman" had become the "noble Fishman" in the eyes of human society.

The little cowboy was holding his own well, but something was off with the Fishman he was fighting.

He also sensed the presence of the Amazon.

Aramaki kept watching, ready to intervene at any moment.

By now, nearly thirty minutes had passed. The sounds of his men were getting closer and closer; undoubtedly, Ricchio had told his story to one of the officers by this time.

When it seemed they wouldn't make it in time, the little girl with the gun shot the monkey man.

Then he saw one of the island's inhabitants—a teenager born and raised on Vallipo—who was desperately trying to talk to the pirate.

The rest is history—Aramaki saw the condition of his son and, after talking, realized that a peaceful life was impossible for him.

Life has a way of delivering unexpected events.

For Aramaki, this happened when his son found one of the most coveted classes of Devil Fruits in history.

It was a biological Devil Fruit, and a very powerful one.

In this world, the limitations of the Devil Fruits were well known. The reason the world was an archipelago was that the creatures spawned by the Devil Fruits eventually disappeared.
