Chapter 100 - Chapter 100: One Hundred

Given her mediocre proficiency in healing magic, Senna decided not to cast any spells to treat Lys's injuries.

Instead, she turned around and went to the storage room, retrieving a dozen or so boxes which she levitated beside her using the Levitation Charm.

"These are my creations. Give them a try," Senna said, opening all the boxes and arranging them neatly.

To Lys's surprise, they were a row of wands.

"The Lam family, back in its glorious days, produced outstanding talents in all kinds of fields!" A mysterious pride flickered in Senna's amber eyes.

Ignoring her mother's clumsy spellcasting skills, Lys marveled at how her mother seemed to know everything while hurriedly wiping her hands on her cloak.

She picked up the first wand. It wasn't suitable—it felt scorching hot!

The second one, "Black Walnut, Serpent Nerve," didn't work either; it barely reacted.

The third, "Applewood, Mermaid Hair," wasn't much better. After waving it, Lys began to spit bubbles.

Senna waved her own wand to clear the floating bubbles and remarked, "Applewood doesn't like people with a dark magic aura."

The fourth and fifth wands were also unsuitable. One wand, with Kneazle Whisker as its core, even jumped back into its box on its own. Lys hunched over and picked up the eighth wand.

"Willow, Wiggentree Branch, 5 inches. Extremely adept at healing. Made for your father, but it never accepted me," Senna said, glaring at the wand with a hint of resentment. She gestured for Lys to give it a try.

It was a perfect match. As soon as Lys held it, the wounds on her body began to heal. When she waved it to cast a healing spell, a white light flashed, and her right hand appeared completely unscathed. Even her left arm started to itch slightly.

Swallowing hard, Lys glanced at Senna, thinking this was enough.

But Senna motioned for her to continue. "Willow is excellent for healing and silent casting. It favors those with potential but has a lack of a sense of security. As for Wiggentree..." Senna shrugged. "The wood and core are both unsuitable for combat. Keep trying."

Sliding the short willow wand into her sleeve, Lys picked up the remaining wands. One particularly long wand made of Blackthorn with a Dragon Heartstring core reacted strongly, causing the light ribbons at the storage room door to shimmer with joy.

"Look at your wands—how utterly unsurprising. I should've known your first wand was Hawthorn! Those Applewood and Holly wands were a waste of time for you!" Senna complained, levitating the remaining wands and returning them to the storage room. Before taking Lys into the potion lab, she made her drink two bottles of magical stabilizers to prevent her surging magic from affecting her potions.

"Mom, why couldn't I try these wands when I started school?" Lys asked.

Senna looked at her as if seeing a brainless troll. "Because disgrace doesn't deserve them."

Ah! Mom meant that I was now worthy of using her crafted wands—and two of them at that!

"Where did you get that bag of potion ingredients you brought back last year?" Senna asked.

Suppressing her excitement, Lys thought back and finally remembered. "It was from the school groundskeeper. He has a friend living in the Forbidden Forest, so he has plenty of those things. I brought some back this time too. I remember you liked them a lot, Mom."

Senna smirked, indicating her agreement. Then she held out her hand to Lys.

Those ingredients were scarce, whether through legal channels or the black market.

Previously, due to their price and the lack of a safe source, some potions couldn't even be brewed for Noah.

But with this year's batch of ingredients, her husband's health had visibly improved. Senna didn't mind giving this little lunatic a rare smile.
